A*Teens started 25 years ago by doing a cover album of some of ABBA’s hits. A*Teens literally stands for ABBA Teens. It was after that they made their own songs. They are all in their 40’s now, so yes, the men are greying in their hair.

Parts may have been re-recorded. But it was all lip sync.

@@discogareth No they actually said themselves that they are singing live over the old recording. You can hear the men especially, since their voices are much lower now than 25 years ago. There are videos taken by audience members in the arena where you can hear it much clearer. But I admit, in the choruses their voices are very drowned out by the original recording.

@@JolieJames hmm. If there was any live element, it certainly wasn’t broadcast like that. With the exception of Amit and Dhani’s vocals that seem to have been re-recorded, Sara and Marie sound exactly as they did when they were 15. I’ve seen amateur rehearsal and final footage and it all sounds the same.

No lip syncing allowed in the Eurovision. All vocals have the be live. Sweden in general have Eurovision down to an absolute art and with Petra Mede coming back for her 3rd time as host, Eurovision in Malmo is going to be spectacular.

There’s a huge ABBA tribute concert on 6th April in Stockholm to celebrate 50th anniversary of Waterloo. Was really hoping Ateens would do that too, but with Sara being 32 weeks pregnant now, that pretty much rules that out sadly.

I know that A-Teens was very popular back at that time. However, since I am not from Sweden, I don't know how popular they were. is it similar to that of Spice Girls or Take That for the UK in the 90s? also, the concept of A-Teens as a mixed group was considered rare (at least in my perspective), as I am more used to seeing one-gendered groups from that era (boy/male groups or girl/female groups).

I am Swedish and they were way more famous abroad than back home. They toured with Britney Spears and if I’m not mistaking they were huge in South America. It is more similar to S club 7 than Spice Girls.

I know I'm in the minority, but I would REALLY like Herreys to have a moment in ESC. It would be 40 years since their win and they are still out performing for special events. I grew up with them, my first record bought with my own money was them, my first live concert was with them singing Diggiloo, sommarparty and mirror mirror. As a tween seeing Sweden's first boy band dance. I had such a crush on all of them.

They were singing live over the original recordings. You can hear especially the men's much lower voices. They stated in an interview the day before the show that they didn't want to sound completely different from the original recordings, but they also thought it would be ridiculous if they didn't sing at all & pretended to sound exactly the same as 25 years ago.
