If you go back and watch earlier eps, there are small references to May’s backstory - not just the times they mention “the Cavalry.” There was an ep where May and Ward were looking at new icer guns Fitz made. (It may have been early in ep 1x15.) May mentions that when it comes to powered people, it can be hard to tell friend from foe.

The moment where Skye's mother reveals herself is beautifully done. I've watched it before, and I tear up every time. As you did, and I did again this time. Two word: "July second," and the scene is set. I think there are a very few scenes in film or TV shows that compare.

Throughout season 1, Raina was obsessed with "The Clairvoyant" (turned out to be Garret's ploy), and now *Raina* *_is_* *clairvoyant!* The ways this show-and this episode in particular-ties so many different threads together is awesome. We've heard hints of the Bahrain story and Andrew and the nickname "The Cavalry" before. Skye's been searching for her parents since day 1. I already mentioned Raina. The Theta Protocol stuff is another story (which of course you know now since you're quite far ahead on Patreon) but everything else fits together really nicely.

When Coulson is talking to May in the flashback about joining him and Nick Fury, he's inviting her to become an Avenger (probably in a similar role as black widow). I want to see that universe haha. Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and the Cavalry.

Kyle MacLachlan does a masterful job in this season of toeing the line between psychopath and caring father.

Yep. On rare occasions, a series gets a guest star who has a mastery of their craft above and beyond the regular members; he’s one of them. Not saying the regulars are bad, and maybe it’s just that his style appeals to me more. To my eye, he has a more relaxed/less formal approach to delivering his lines; he reminds me a bit of RDJ in that regard. Disclaimer: not an actor, not in the business.

Consider that Skye's father is the monster he is only because he was caught up in vengeance for what happened to his wife and searching for his daughter. All the people he killed were because they had taken his daughter, or they were keeping him from finding her. Or he thought so, correctly or not. So, yeah, I think Skye owes it to him to at least give him a chance at being a father, though that doesn't mean he shouldn't also pay for his crimes. And now we know why May is called the Cavalry, and why she hates that nickname -- it's a reminder that she failed, that to save everyone she had to kill a little girl. Absolutely the right call, given the circumstance, but still traumatizing, and she's never recovered. (And probably told almost no one what really happened.) And by now you know that we'll see just how deep this issue affects her.

She’d already worked with the showrunners before on Dollhouse. Originally from Australia like Lincoln’s actor

Yay. S.H.I.E.L.D. again. Hopefully the time between your episode 16 upload and your upload for episode 17 is a sign of things to come. For a while there, there seemed to be a LOT of time between episodes.

I think that was mainly down to her editor needing some time off over Christmas. I doubt it will be a common thing.

In the comics, her name is Premonition Porcupine. Nah, I'm kidding. OR AM I?
