This was really well produced. The vocals sounded great in spite of me not knowing what was being said. Musically, the drums stood out for me for sure.

Good music to row in a Viking boat to. There's a bit of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" sandwiched in there with some very tasty pagan choruses. ••• PEACES!!!

My absolute favorite Týr song will probably always be Sinklars Visa (Sinclair's Song). It's a Norwegian folksong, sung in a a Faroese dialect of Danish, based of a true story about a band of Scottish mercenaries hired by the Swedish king, sent to attack Norway and getting absolutely decimated by a bunch of Norwegian farmers. It is beautiful and the harmonies are insane. Even if you don't do a reaction to the song sometime in teh future, make sure to check it out on your own. I think you'll really enjoy it!

Glad you liked it man! I knew I wanted to share some more TÝR, but I wasn't sure what song ... then I stumbled upon this gem. I'm personally not a huge fan of live performance videos because a lot of them sound like crap, but I really liked the recording quality on this. (almost sounds like the album) 🤘🤘 My personal favorite Týr album is Valkyrja, but they have such an awesome discography you can hardly go wrong picking any of them! Thanks for the listen. ⚒⚒

you said it feels like a chant or a dance, it's because it is. many early TYR songs are covers of faroese folk circle dances

Very old for that matter. It is speculated that this one was originally written in 13/14th century.

A great band. I do prefer the older records. The Land record is outstanding. Not so thrilled with their pet political cause however.

Smidur or smithur it's kind of a d--th sound

Very few old languages still have this sound. It was imported from Old Norse which is the closes to modern Icelandic and Faroese. Isolation of these islands possibly helped to preserve more conservative features of language. This "thorn" sound was once a normal thing in Old English up to 11 century, at the closing of Viking age and later Norman invasions which brought more French influences to English.

@@iachtulhu1420 ​ Yes but no. Modern Faroese actually lost its ð and it's now pronounced "y" (as in yes) or not at all. While words still look like icelandic, the pronunciation is wildly different. You can also hear at the beginning of the song, it's pronounced something like "Regin Smee'ur"
