Her voice is just so soulful, the minute she opens her mouth, here it comes, bow and arrow, pierces your heart and soul. She had done this one song, when she was younger, trying to remember the name of it. Still stuck in my head.

Nobody can cover Lana like Angelina. Being the first track on Lana's Born to Die album, it is probably the Lana song I have heard the most. I heard Lana's version so many times before Angelina made this cover, that I heard the words she changed/missed the very first time I listened to this cover. This is not my favorite Angelina song either, but it is one that really shows how versatile she is. This is not a song that many people could even attempt to cover, and Angelina nails it. With 130 songs, and a very eclectic list, I'm sure there are many others she has done that you have never heard. She has introduced me to many songs that I had not heard before.

I still have difficulty interpreting the second line :-( All I hear clearly is "Take me to the....." Are you able to tell me the remaining three(?) words? The Lana version has it as "Take me to the finish line".

@@alberttenfoot That is correct. "Feet don't fail me now. Take me to the finish line." I can hear it pretty clearly in both the Lana and Angelina version. The next line is a little "blurry" in Angelina's version. But one of the things I really love about Angelina's style is that she doesn't over enunciate everything. There are a lot of very good singers that (for me) ruin the natural sound by over enunciating. Some of the differences I hear in Angelina's lyrics... Lana says "I feel so alone on a Friday night" Angelina says, "I feel so alone on _the_ Friday _nights_ " Subtle difference, but like I said... I heard the original many, many times so that jumped out the very first time I heard it. The other difference is that that Lana Says "Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain" and Angelina changed "kiss" to "hug".

@@RustyShacklefordChannel Yes, I have no problem hearing the correct words in the second line, when the song is sung by Lana but still have a problem with Angelina's rendition. The fact that I cannot hear them clearly is "bugging" me. I'll get my d.i.l. to listen - she has quite acute hearing - and report back. As I am not familiar enough with Lana's version, I was not aware of the subtle differences that Angelina made and thank you for pointing them out to me.

This is my favorite Lana Del Rey song. It has almost half a BILLION views on KZbin, sold over a MILLION copies, and charted very high (#9 I think). So if you are a fan of Lana, I'm very surprised that you don't know this song. Because of her unique voice, Lana's songs are very hard to cover; and this one in particular is very hard to sing. And not many have had success trying. But Angelina covers this song with perfection. Some, and I'm one, belief it is actually better than the original. Good to see you reacting to Angelina again. Happy Easter I have watched a few of your reactions and I like for one you listen to entire song before reacting, it is really annoying. For this reaction I will just say listen to the original then listen to Angelinas version and as usual she goes beyond the original it's like she has this secret sauce in her voice combined with her ability to live the emotion of her songs is beyond amazing especially considering her age. There is another song by Lana Del Rey called Young and Beautiful you should react to next I just listened to it recently as usual another masterpiece. When an artist is doing a 'cover', I suggest you listen to the original before doing the 'reaction' so you can know if the artist paid due respect to the original or where the inspiration came from for the performance your are reacting to. If you listen to LDR's original, you can hear that, while respecting the source material, AJ improved it and made it her own. As she does with so many covers, AJ likes to do it 'in the style' of the original performer. I can tell when she is doing Billie Holiday, Adele, Amy W., Whitney H., and others by her affectations of those artists' signature sounds. Just my suggestion/opinion. I like your channel.

Oh! Come on! I didn't know the song either & I loved it from the get-go. I went to watch the original and Man! Big surprise for me! AJ's version, feeling, voice, emotions are by far better felt than the rigid crisp version of Lana DR. I believe AJ is doing or has done all these covers before going on AGT to show the various facets & range of her voice whether in jazz music or pop/rock or whatever genre there is. AGT was the final rehearsal to start doing her own music & songs. And stop believing that English is her second or 3rd language. That is not true.

Another thing you should listen to the new songs that she’s written herself are 1,000,000 miles and shield she’s amazing she also did a Oslo which I think it’s about her hometown but these are songs that you should listen to as well they’re not covers their her own that she is written and the one about 1,000,000 miles is the one that she wrote for the record company she signed with it was the first shot out of the box and only like a week after she signed so she’s extremely talented there’s no question about it there is no way there’s another 13 or 14-year-old that can come close to her she’s 14 now she’ll be 15 in January she’s my granddaughter‘s age almost exactly There are a few days apart so that’s how I keep track of Angelina by my granddaughter but you need to look at all of her and see how well rounded she is and how comfortable she is I love your honesty I love your Way you’re very easy you’re easy on the eyes you’re easy on your demeanor thank you very much for your criticisms

I am an old man who doesn’t listen to much music and if you listen to Lana Del Rey minimally it is hard not to know one of her best songs!? I see death everyday and have become hardened to life and this song by LD voiced by a young kid in AJ profoundly moved me like few artists have but what do I know? Agree that “put a Spell on You” isn’t her best match but why not take risks? She has already conquered me and can move on to something else.

If you haven't watched Lana DelRay's video of this song, you are missing out. The video was shot at the Fontainebleau Palace in France, which is breathtaking! I think the idea behind the video is she is a Queen (with two Siberian Tigers), and she is in heaven. I think that video was five or six years ago but it is incredible. Angelina has another version of this song and it is clearer and stronger.

I think it's more about the listener just voicing their opinions too. To me the reactor has an opinion but so does the listener about the reactors reaction. I always thought that's what these video are about. At least that's my interpretation. For me, I can tell when the reactor isn't that into it. And if I was hoping they would share my enthusiasm and they didn't then it's a let down. Just as it seems to be somewhat of a letdown that the reactor is only so so about the performance. Just saying.

The listener also has a reaction to what the reactor has to say. People should be allowed to say their peace as should the reactor. I thought Maunalee just wasn't into the song for whatever reason. Maybe she wasn't in the right mood for that song. IDK. But personally I try to look at any performance as having a goo,d bad or great sound. Which Angelina always seems to sound great. And I don't particularly like the songs she covers. But yet I can always appreciate her talent and would not say that was just alright if her vocals are as she always sings. If she has a bad day and sounded so so then I would say her vocals weren't as good. But that's doubtful to ever happen with her.

Absolutely respect your opinion, I had heard this song a while back, did not know who Lana del Rey was (I am an old fart) but I have been a great fan of Angelina Jordan since I was introduced to her rendition of Fly me to the Moon, which has particular significance to my wife and I, I love Lana del Rey's version, of the song, but as someone else said earlier, I feel this was a more emotional rendition. I would suggest another excellent song from a little known artist (by me) Baby Fuzz, I'm still holding out for you" which Angelina made a track of, one that he afterwards realized had a suggestion of suicide in the end, and which led her to say she would never sing the song again. The video, the song are spectacular in my untrained opinion. Baby Fuzz did not no she had made this rendition until it was leaked. In other words, Angelina never intended it to get out. It is a beautiful interpretation of a song that describes a passionate lost love, that leads to a feeling of despair and loss of desire to live without that love. Long story short, you should give it a listen... it is beautiful. Here soundtrack of a TRXD song "Above the Water" featuring her as the singer is also awesome, more upbeat and totally unexpected genre for Angelina.

I was going to suggest this one to you. It isn't so much the song being good, as the fact that she is singing in a new style. She is completely versatile in her singing. Also, for her being only 11 years old, the voice is very mature for her age. I hadn't heard the original of this song either. I had to go listen to it after I heard Angelina sing it. I definitely like Angelina's cover more. It is a dark subject for her to be singing at 11 years old. She does a beautiful job of singing it though. I think Angelina is going to have a good many surprises for us in the very near future. It sounds like she has signed with a record company and is living in California now. I hope she doesn't change. She is so innocent, and I would hate to see a contract ruin what she has.

@bare meg I also go against the popular vote if this one, and I put a spell on you is considered the best/favorite. I truly am in love with the 7, 8ish year old Angelina. so much raw soul is in the early songs, ie Bang,Bang. Fly Me To The Moon. Gloomy Sunday. and What A Difference A Day Makes. a little older.. Back in Black and Wicked Games, and Valerie still have the simplicity, gravel and innocence. I find that as she gets older, she is using more gradiants in her vocals (is that what it's called when they go up and down unnecessarily?) like in Bohemian Rhapsody. and that's when I change the video. (although, there is a very good performance of I Put A Spell out there) But the very young, simple, raw Angelina that sounds so much like Billy Holiday... I can listen to her all day. And that face is so precious and still so full of quiet emotion. I really like her doing cover songs, I just wish she would keep it simple, like the old days. You keep mentioning I put a spell on you she was six or seven when she did that and her talent then was phenomenal you have to keep that into perspective and take it for what it is you are adorable I love you and I watch all of your critiques but you bring that up a number of times and I think you really have to take into consideration that she was very young and starting out she had just come off of Norway’s got talent that’s some thing you really should look at that’s where she sings Billie holiday a cappella so in order for you to have a well rounded look in view of her I think you need to go back and look at her on your Waze got talent and then revisit I put a spell on you and look at all of the things she is able to do as a seven-year-old think of what your children do at seven or six think of what you were doing at six or seven till just for your own self do that but I love you I think you’re terrific I think you’re honest and that eight ball we could do without I’m 71 been there done that with the eight ball so I appreciate your honesty and I wasn’t sure about the Whitney Houston song if I agreed with you were not the other critics that I’ve listen to thought she was right on and I think she was right on but you would know better than I I don’t sing and I don’t have pets at all so you might want to revisit that as well and see if maybe you can come to another decision or if you come to The same decision which is fine as long as you’re honest and you really have to listen to it and I agree with you about some of her words because English is not her first language however she is getting so much better with that and keep doing what you’re doing you’re awesome⚡️♥️

Yes, the way she sings the chorus is especially good - she maintains the richness of her tone where others can't. The song itself is good but not great. Actually, it goes on too long. One quibble - the way you spoke about the song immediately, sounds like you really think this is a 9, barely. Looking forward to your next reaction!

That's why the camera is better placed at her side, not in front of her. We can't see her lips moving. We can't see her singing. But her singing is always incredible, she can change her voice any way she wants.

This is one of my favorite covers from Angelina. I was not familiar with the original either. When I checked it out though, it was if Lana's original was in black and white, and Angelina introduced rich technicolor to it. I love to play this and Adele's A Million Years Ago back to back.

Watching you facial reactions I could tell as well what you were feeling. It's still a 9! I think once Angelina discovers the other part of song performance on camera (ie. more eye contact, and visual story telling), this song may have more emotional connection. By this I mean more, but using the "less is more" theory. Also, would be interesting to see how she would do on any of "The Carpenters" songs from the 1970's. Karen Carpenter had such a pure voice. Thoughts? Have you seen the Whitney "I have Nothing" video? She sounds the same, different, and better IMO.

Maybe it's the song. I didn't like at first, but it grew on me, mostly because of Angelina's wonderfully textured and raspy voice. Yes, the chorus sounds great. And then when I went to check out Lana's music video, I realized I enjoy Angelina's rendition a whole lot better. If it wasn't for the high-quality music video production, I found Lana's rendition is way too boring.

You can't react to enough of Angelina's performances. I don't know how Dr. Marc Reynolds feels about her, but I think she's the best singer of her young generation. Maybe, of any age. But, I will look into the unnamed 16-year-old singer with all those views.
