I just want to say shame to the people that give you or anyone else hate for honesty. I think AJ is the biggest talent I have ever seen and I’m a huge fan. But that doesn’t mean that every time she sings it will be world class. Even when it is world class it doesn’t mean that everyone gonna love her as much as I do because we are all different and we like different stuff. The world would be a boring place without any progression if we didn’t have different opinions and ideas. Every day of the week I prefer people being honest to people just agreeing for no reason. It’s possible to disagree and be critical but with respect for the other person and certainly without being hateful. I will continue to watch your reactions because they are good, funny to watch and most of all you’re being honest so keep it up!!!

Angelina draws in a devastating level of melancholy to a lament about obsession. Silence, properly used, creates tension. Her phrasing is perfect. Thanks to Chris Isaac for writing the song, but neither his original nor any version I've heard compares to the emotion she evokes. If you go back to the IG portion, you can see the time stamp, Aug2011, and her comment, "Playing on my corner with Wicked Game song". Yeah, just playing with my memories. I listen to it almost every evening before shutting things down. One of my favorites. Love you mother's comments.

I totally agree about the inappropriate video. Too cutesie for the nature of the song. Sune Amtoft has created a beautiful video to accompany Angelina's version of this song. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3qkfnlqe6mZrZY You'll like her version much better with this video. Concerning everything else, I couldn't disagree with you more. Angelina's version is the best I have every heard. The slowness and pausing (negative space) emphasize the obsessive nature of this song. She is a jazz singer and that also gives the song a different vibe. And she's not flat. I've probably heard at least 20 covers of this Chris Isaak classic, and for me, her's is the best; including the original. It's a straight 10 for me. Also, a very strange song to have your daughter rate, or even listen to. Three generations of beautiful ladies; a pleasure to see and hear. Wishing you all the very best. Billy J

By far, the most enjoyable part of this reaction was watching Charlotte's reaction throughout the video! Without even knowing the words and based on her facial expression, she IMMEDIATELY picked up on the "sadness" of this song, excellently expressed through Angelina's tone and voice. Also, watching Charlotte's "ho-hum" reactions to the different photos showing up, then literally "LIGHTING UP" EVERY time one of Angelina's baby or toddler photos appeared. She definitely likes children her age. I also can't believe how well behaved she is without interrupting you. Kudos to you for the good parenting!

It's got to be a 10 for me. I loved the performance, loved the pictures. I think, so far, it is one of her most beautiful song. I love how she is playing the piano with minimum notes that shift the listener's attention to her exquisite voice and interpretation. To me, this is the best version of this song. The way I feel is her voice soothes the soul. Thank you for your reaction.

Everybody has different tastes in music. Wicked games was pretty much meant to be done a lot like AJ did it. It is not your typical song at all. I think that a lot of people would not be drawn to this kind of song but another one of the reactors that I follow summed up her performance perfectly. Here is what she said..... Another reactor thought “this song was a perfect match for Angelina’s “smokey haunting voice”, it was amazing. Pairing this Song and Angelina were a perfect match... loved how it was stripped down with just her and the piano. It is very calming and beautiful. I have a playlist with these types of songs that I like to play at the end of the day for calming and winding down, this will go on it. This is one of my favorite version of this song and I’ve heard it hundreds of times done by various people.”

I totally disagree with you on this one. I love the slow pace & the anguish in her voice. I think what you thought was flat was Angelina's crying voice. I find it extremely emotional & much more on point than the original or the vocal "gymnastics" version by Diana A. The photos are too cute & very distracting, so I have to close my eyes for this one. But different strokes for different folks. Thanks for your honesty.

There's a couple things at play here. First, it's not that the song is too slow... it's that it might be too slow of a song for your the setting you are in. It is definitely not the pacing that would appeal to a three year old... and that was probably in your mind as you were listening. I was thinking it when I saw what song you were doing. If you listen back to this on your own later, you might hear it differently. The second issue (as you noticed) is that the pics really don't go with the feeling of the song. They are great pics, but to get the feeling she is going for here, you kind of have to look away. ....Anyway, it was great to see the three generations react to this together :)

I don't think that this song is too slow - the Daisy Gray rendition posted two months ago was even slower (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmW5hmB3rN2tibs) and it's got almost 3 million views already. One needs to be immersed in a certain mood to fully appreciate this song. Those cute pictures probably spoiled your mood for it. I agree with your mom - it deserves at least an 8 if not a 9. I usually listen to it with my eyes closed, and I find it hauntingly beautiful.

For once I do not agree with your rating, but what a boring world it would be if everyone would have the same taste. Personally I think the slower tempo and the rubatos that makes the music almost come to a full stop at some places is perfect and only serves to emphasize the words in the lyrics and I would double your score and give her a 12 out 10 in this song. Maybe it's not the best choice for a 3-year-old, and maybe you would feel different about it if you had listened to it on your own. I thought I saw some concern for your daughter in your eyes as she got a bit affected by the strong emotions portrayed by Angelina's rendition. A lot of people think the slideshow doesn't fit with the song, but I don't find it disturbing. If you think of the lyrics as describing unrequited love and the despair felt in a toxic relationship, then yes - it might throw you off a bit. But is this the only way to view this song? The video with these photos of "baby Angelina" has been created by her grandmother, so I think we have to allow for a different interpretation. The love she feels for Angelina isn't unrequited or toxic, quite the contrary I would think, but it's so strong it hurts, her heart is about to burst because she can't find enough ways to express this love. Well ... I don't want to put words in her mouth or claim that I know the thoughts and feelings behind this slideshow, but as a work of art, the video is open for interpretation.

Yes, the only scale I can picture this being a 6 on is a "Angelina only" scale with a 1 being her "rollin in the deep" at 5 yrs old on the toy guitar, and a 10 being a bunch of her other songs that are currently tied for my favorite. ...but even on that scale I'm going with a strong 9 on wicked game. I think this was just not the right setting to absorb it. ... but a 6 on the same scale that the 'voiceplay' video got an 8 on? IDK about that 🤔
@YozhikvTumane4 жыл бұрын
@@RustyShacklefordChannel I love how she apologises in that video for the guitar (or ukulele actually) being _"not so good",_ out of tune as it is with strings all tangled up, but it just takes her mom to hum two notes from the song to make her start singing despite the shortcomings of her instrument.

Hey M, the main error that I see here is in you blindly following the wrong recommendation. First of all, this is the wrong song for a family setting, and also not the best fan made video of this song. In such a setting, I think a song like "Valerie" would have been more appropriate. Ciao!💚
@DavidLDodge3 жыл бұрын
The "picture show" was absolutely out of context with the deep meaning of the song. Therefore it detracted from, rather than added to the overall presentation. A song about a sad woman not wanting to fall in love because of the pain of a love gone bad is not enhanced by a series of pictures of a cute young girl smiling at the camera. Angelina's interpretation, however, was excellent.
@DonaldLancon4 жыл бұрын
OK, first off, this is definitely not the song to react to with your daughter. I'm not sure why that was suggested by the person who requested the reaction. Secondly, there is a slightly less distracting version of this video where the pictures are not animated like they are here, but are just shown in regular slideshow fashion (and it doesn't have the Instagram clip at the beginning, either). That's the version I saw first, I think, and it's the one I prefer. Third, yes, the pictures are quite incongruous considering the meaning of the song, and are a distraction from Angelina's singing, but actually they were a large part of the reason I teared up when I saw the video (I think it was actually the second time I watched it). Because they show what an unusual child she was even at a _very_ young age. That deadpan look in almost all the pictures is super cute, yes, but so unlike what you'd get with most of children of the same age that it's… I don't know… affecting. She was so "serious", even at 3 or 4 years old. It just got to me. I have a similar reaction when I watch the very early videos of her "in the studio" at 6 or so, trying to sing big songs that were just a bit beyond her abilities at the time. She's trying so hard and taking it so seriously (and, fortunately, also celebrating when she does something well), that it chokes me up a little.

Just one question, Maunalee. Do you really think Diana Ankudinovas version was that much better? I was pretty sure you would like Angelinas version over hers, at least give a tie, but I was completly wrong (10-6). I would definitely choose Angelinas version, and I like Diana.. This song is about obsessive love, not a belting vocal competition.
@aramancam4 жыл бұрын
The flatness I believe was intentional as is everything when she performs. To me she was trying to convey crying or moaning from the pain in the lyrics during the chorus. The slowness and the halting piano were also intentional to convey the brokenness embodied in the lyrics. I think this one flew over your head. She nailed it but I think you were too focused on technical aspects that were not relevant to her performance.
@alberttenfoot4 жыл бұрын
I agree with every word you've written. Angelina is the only singer who truly understands that this is a song of obsession and is able to have us believe that she has actually experienced the anguish, pain and utter hopelessness in which she finds herself. People always talk about Angelina’s versatility. This song is a wonderful example of it. Obviously not mainstream appeal but phenomenal nevertheless. The emoting, that came out of that song was outstanding. I could listen to it, alone while just thinking of really nothing but just experiencing all of the feelings stirred up by Angelina singing this song and the piano accompaniment. Angelina can stir up so much emotion when she is opening her soul with music and lyrics for us. Looking at the an opposite type of piece with as much impact would be “Song for A.” Again emotion spills out while her voice is perfection. With Angelina...you just never know which heartstring that she will tug. I cannot imagine going to a full concert of hers. The experience would leave me on such emotion overload that I don’t know if I could make it without crying my eyes out. I will definitely find out though. Whenever she has a concert that comes my way I will be buy my tickets!

Clearly distracted by your mother and daughter, your full attention on the video was absent. You judged a work-progress rehearsal as if it were a polished performance. Angelina is not to blame if you chose the wrong song to invite your mother and daughter (who are beautiful!) ... best to re-record.

👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ I appreciate the honest reaction. It's tiresome watching reactors who only ever say the same thing, and make the same faces.

I knew that there would be 8 points Angelina, no doubt. For 21st century Mozart, no one puts a mark. Many vocalists and musicians recognized her genius. Female jealousy and nothing more.

Miserable reactions are no fun to watch. There's a commercial about racoons going through garbage and one of them says "Oh! This is awful. You gotta try it." Is that what's going on here? If so, it's not funny. It's just dreary. Thumb down.

Probably should not have had your adorable little daughter listen to this particular track . It's very dark and Angelina is not afraid to go there . She wrings the last melancholy feel out of the song . That's why it was so astounding that she could sing and make it sound right when she sang Gloomy Monday when she was seven.

Angelina slows down songs to create space for emotions.This takes getting used to,at least it did for me.I didn't like it the first listen,but something clicked and now I love it.

A truly classic song, completely ruined by Angelina's slow motion drone, was anyone really awake by the end?

Do not agree, I think this was amazing version of wicked game.

Good reaction. Pics were a little distracting and unnecessary. Can you react to Daneliya Tuleshova's covers of lovely and colorblind. Also a new cover of The Month of May and her song Don't Cha.

With the scores you give Angelina. I guess the best you would get be about 1 1/2 tops

Hi Mauna! Thanks for your honest reaction. Before my first hearing Wicked game, I felt that this song's cover would have a surprising weird rendition by Angelina. Wicked game talks about a love story full of sorrow and in my point of view Angelina decided to give darkness and weeping, to describe how she does feel this story. Slowed down tempo, only a simple piano, almost a capella.....just showing sorrow. This is only my point of view on rendition. Nevertheless, I would like she didn't play piano while singing, specially in promotion videos. Her skills and uniqueness are 100% inside of her and any other thing than to sing, impairs her concentration. See you in next reacts!! Stay safe and healthy Peace & Hugs!! P.S.: Nice Saga of three lovely ladies 💓
