I know the feeling man. I first heard that album when I was 12 years old in 1977. I was blown away. I was really into percussion and was excited that I got to play percussion in our Jr High school band. John Bonham blew my mind! Zeppelin was the greatest band ever.

I found my older brother Led Zeppelin's albums when I was 13-years-old. The only album I would risk my life to take out of his bedroom was Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holly. That was the start. Then at 14-years-old, I took 10 of my high school girlfriends to 2 Led Zeppelin concerts in a row.

On the way to Page and Plant in 1996 I said to my buddy, "I want them to play Babe more than any song" and they did. It was a rush beyond belief. That being said, that was well past Robert's vocal surgery and there was no way he could replicate what you heard on the studio version. Didn't matter! That's when you know you're a Led Head. But it would never be quite the same after the surgery, let's face it. Dude smoked, dude didn't warm up, just abuse of the instrument.

Live versions are fun to watch but the sound quality always suffers. 95/100 times, the studio version is better. This song was written in 1959 by folk singer Anne Bredon. I believe the first recording was a live concert recording by Joan Baez in 1964.
