The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and they are like gods of music. They are all men and are some of Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint. This is because in the BABYMETAL lore, the Fox God raises them from the dead or summons on them to perform for the girls for each concert. The lore also says that girls have been chosen by the Fox God to be the saviors of metal, and unite the world through metal.

This song is about the girls playing "hide and seek" with a Japanese demon or ogre. The growling voice is the demon asking "Are you ready?". You have to have balls of steel to play games with a demon!

Babymetal played two nights at the Budokan (a venue which cannot be booked, you can only be invited) Red Night & Black Night with different sets on each night. The song is about playing a game of hide-and-seek with an ogre...but a nice one. Another song which has a wonderful instrumental lead in is Rondo of Nightmare (a song about a girl trapped forever in a recurring nightmare) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/boildZyCgrONmac - this is a solo by Su, the lead singer.

The Budokan is prestigious and many developing artists in Japan hold out playing Budokan as their goal - that certainly was the case for Babymetal at the time - but I don't believe the "invitation only" idea is accurate.

Nice reaction ladies. As you noticed, they were playing hide and seek - but with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre) and that was the growling voice (on a backing track - growls in their songs are always on a backing track) asking things like "Are you ready" to which the only sensible response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance. The Kami Band (I think someone already explained kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned to support BABYMETAL in all their live shows since this one (and the night before) in early 2014 ... but they were being phased in gradually playing the encores in some shows from October 2012) always wore the traditional burial robes and corpse face paint. More recently the robes are black and the face paint has been replaced with masks ... the masks are not popular with the fans, we like to see their faces and to see they are having as much fun as the girls. In this show they were Takayoshi Ohmura (pink glittery guitar), Leda Cygnus (black/gold glittery guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums).

I do not normally care for dancing but I love watching Babymetal dance. Their dances, while relatively simple, exist for a purpose. They're not just shaking it or showing off. The dancing often tells the story of the song, as you could clearly see in this song. Plus, like you said, it's simple enough that they can get the crowd involved. Another part of what makes them so fun to watch.

Although 2 of the 3 original members, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, lead singer) & Moametal (Moa Kikuchi, backup vocals & dance) are currently only 22 & 21 years old respectively, BABYMETAL just celebrated their 10th anniversary. Since their inception, they've won over 35 International awards, have been on the covers of multiple industry magazines (METAL HAMMER, ROLLING STONE JAPAN, KERRANG, REVOLVER, etc.). Unlike most K-Pop, J-Pop, or other female 'Idol' groups, BABYMETAL uses no suggestive or sexual imagery, lyrics, or choreography in their music or performances. This is intentional. Their lyrics can be poppy, silly, & fun; however, most are positive, inspirational, & uplifting, & inspire hundreds of thousands of young fans. Also, their work ethic is beyond reproach. And NO ONE can control a crowd like these young ladies. BABYMETAL'S best work is definitely done LIVE; however, "KARATE" is one of the few exceptions to the rule: KARATE (OFFICIAL MV) kzbin.info/www/bejne/faenZHZ-dplrpqM Arigatou! 🦊🤘

Red and Black were their colors in the early years. When they'd do a 2 night concert it would be red night and black night. They did this at Budokan and Tokyo Dome. Black Night was the second night. Red Night at Budokan had some technical issues i think only with the recording equipment. You're right about the connection to horror films. The Kami Band is dressed in burial outfits. So if someone crawled out of a grave that is what they would look like. But yeah its not a reference to horror films but a common thing from their culture.

Ok good reaction again:) The others have answered your questions about the band and concert name etc. So here is a cute story about this song, according to Su-Metal in an interview, when the girls were first played the recording of the demon voice for this song, Yuimetal, the one who looks like a little china doll with the cute chubby cheeks, got frightened and almost started to cry and she made them promise not to play it again, lol she was only 11 or 12 at the time. To bring a little more clarity, the song brings in parts of childhood. When playing hide and seek, the tagger is an Oni - an ogre. They also use Red Ogre and Blue Ogre, who come from a childhood story, The Red Ogre who Cries. The Red Shoes are either from a story about a girl in Yokohama who wore red shoes and was kidnapped by Westerners. Or it could be from Hans Christian Anderson's The Red Shoes, where a girl puts on red shoes and can't stop dancing. It doesn't matter much as the moral is the same - the girls were vain in wearing red shoes and that was what got them in trouble. In Japan Shinto has street festivals, and there is singning and dasncing, and men dress as Oni knock on doors and ask "are there any crybabies?" Which the growling voice asks, Just mant aspects of childhood in the song, The Kami band dresses the way they do becaise Kami means Spirit, and that is how spirits are costumed in Kabuki theater, Very traditional.

Hi. Your explanation is great! But there's one thing I want to add. About a girl with red shoes in Yokohama, I think it's from famous children's song "赤い靴 Red Shoes," the lyrics is "A girl with red shoes has gone. Foreigners have taken her, sailed from Yokohama Pier, to their country. I think of her whenever I see red shoes or foreigners." But she wasn't kidnapped by Westerners. She was adopted by American missionary in Hokkaido, and would've gone with them when they returned. The mother of the girl never forgot her daughter and hoped she was happy in America, until she died. That is what the song is about. (Actually the girl died when she was 9 in Japan, because she got tuberculosis and couldn't go with her adoptive parents. So sad.) But many children misunderstand the lyrics in many ways, and get scared.

Red night and Black night are when Babymetal did back to back concerts in two nights. The songs in Black night are totally different from the Red night, so fans usually attend both nights if possible. Also Babymetal likes to accomodate the full capacity of the stadium by setting their stage at the center. For example in their Tokyo Dome concerts, they set a cylindrical stage at the center so they can have the full capacity of 55000 seats; while most other performing groups set the stage at one side with around 50000 capacity.

The best Metal song ever about playing Hide and Seek. They have songs about eating too much chocolate, eating spicy papaya salad, about time-travelling mint-flavoured chewing gum and about stopping bullying forever amongst other things - all subjects that other Metal bands have yet to address! The song about stopping bullying was one they performed at their first European Metal festival, in front of 65,000 Metal heads who were due to see Iron Maiden headline. The girls were just 15 and 16 and they showed their strength and stamped their Metal credentials on the world that day. They finished with IDZ, Bullying No More Forever and you'll love it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c

Fun video o/ Their live performances are always hight quality, and everyone performing keeps this high quality and high level of energy through entire concerts. Their choreographies are always crafted to match the lyrics and the instrumentals perfectly, to kind of "tell the story" the song is about, their choreographer, Mikiko Mizuno, is one of the best from Japan. You might also want to check a j-pop/electropop group called Perfume, they are very popular there, and like BABYMETAL they are quite unique on their genre, and they also have Mikiko as their choreographer, if you watch enough from both groups you will notice her style. If you want to check more live from BABYMETAL you could try Headbanger, a song about a girl attending her first metal concert on the night of her 15 years old birthday: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3bWgJSDl7N5rdk If you liked that spining stage you might also want to check Akatsuki, it's a solo from Su (the singer), it's kind of a love song, but metal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8 And if you want to see how they are now that they are grown up you could react to some of their songs from their official channel like Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, Da Da Da Dance and BxMxC

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀️👹 If much of their charm is in the blending of the cute and the brutal, this song is a great example. While 'Megitsune' is still my favorite, this has one of the cutest choreographies. They performed this song quite a bit in 2017, but not since. The last time I saw this one was in Chula Vista, California when they were on tour opening for Korn. The growls on the first album, like this song, aren't credited. The musician listed in BABYMETAL credits as TAKEMETAL (Takeru Youda) did growls on the second album. He also co-wrote the music for 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' on the first record.

The concert itself was held two consecutive nights (named Red Night and Black Night) 2014 in Nippon Budokan, usually used for Sumo matches. To play at Budokan, one needs to be invited, instead of just easily book the place. Only the very recognized performers are able to play there. Babymetal became the youngest to ever perform and sold out seats for both nights, with Ozzy Osbourne was also in attendance. Babymetal breaks all genres to be mixed with metal, so there's a lot of options. Maybe consider these: - DOKI DOKI MORNING : Happy-fun- metal about young girls' stuff every morning, their first ever song kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZrVmYRunrGXmNk - AWADAMA FEVER : Edm-punk-metal about bubble gums kzbin.info/www/bejne/a57FqWWKiaaLZpY - OH MAJINAI : Polka-scandinavian-metal featuring Sabaton's Joakim Broden. The Moa Slide! Moa Kikuchi is now too big to slide under Suzuka Nakamoto like that. Sadly, Yui Mizuno left the group for health issues. They share the choreographer with the mega Super Group, Perfume. Perfume is their "big sister" band in the Amuse organization.

I have a current rabbithole im in, Euringer (really it's the singer Jimmy Urine and his music career, he has another band MSI which i love), maybe you could check them out down the road. I have had their song "F*** everything" as my 2020 anthem. If you need a feelgood song, they did a cover og "What a fool believes". The music video is fantastic and made me go "Det' sgudda Martin Brygmann" but no just Jimmy Urine in all his splendor :)

Nice reaction & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。You are now on the verge of the the Fox hole. I am waiting for you somewhere in the hole. (I do not know if there is the bottom or not). You already had all necessary information. so I just want to add two things. ① This was filmed in 2014. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies now and their performance has matured, and yet very energetic as before. ② Their activities are worldwide. Since June last year until March this year (before the pandemic), they performed 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan (total : 49 their own concerts + 6 appearance in festivals). As you may have already known they performed at Vega Main Hall in Copenhagen, too. Please continue to explore BABYMETAL.

Some advice about BABYMETAL reactions: tl;dr: Don't use compilations for BABYMETAL, we have a better solution. Please don't rely solely on videos that are on KZbin (mainly compilations); they're not meant to be used for reactions as the mix of concerts and generally bad editing can make it confusing for those new to BABYMETAL. Also, you won't get the full BABYMETAL experience with these. Some people think they are safer for reactions, but they're not. They may get past the bot initially, but you still stand the chance of your video being blocked later and the possibility of having copyright strikes. Some fans made a selection of "best" performances for each song; I would suggest using it for future BABYMETAL reactions. Here is the link : docs.google.com/document/d/1DqPsavocgGvCyZfUHvrkgJ5KZMaMkmMgjy2UxNNG96E/edit# You should note though, that your video will almost definitely be blocked if these are included in your video and that you will need to do what we call "link & sync". It's very easy and made easier with the help of Reactor Hub, a tool made for helping avoid blocks etc. We made a short tutorial on how to use it : drive.google.com/open?id=1X6hN2BdyKzFmVN9XMEo2M89hsKY0B-bnnHRVVMNY13w Using that you are safe from blocked videos and even future copyright strikes, since no copyright material is included in your video :). There is even a discord for Reactor Hub if you need any help. I'm hoping you will have fun with BABYMETAL in future reactions :).
