💬I made a post on my community tab about this but I lost my dad on 27 March ( kzbin.info/door/QlRvgisyDW43T7K9Txi9Lwcommunity?lb=UgkxVDbEELpe5VtVLgc4YizkeDinQaLHYjCs ). He wouldn’t have liked this song… he liked 50’s rock, old school country and western, Eagles, CCR, and some 60’s stuff… but I want to dedicate the work I did on this one to him. He was around for the first half of the process and two days before he died we were listening to some of his most favorite songs together. He was set in his ways when it came to music but I didn’t mind. I love all the music he loved to listen to. He used to sing Elvira by the Oakridge Boys to me, as well as many Elvis songs. And Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho. 😅 I used to change the chorus to “Tiny boobies” and he would get a kick out of that. Dad, I love and miss you so much. 💜😞

I feel bad for my Dad. He was (and still is) a huge Yes fan, but during the one opportunity he had to see them, back in the 70’s (at a show at a racetrack with a very diverse lineup of other bands, which included Gary Wright, REO Speedwagon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Peter Frampton at the height of his “Comes Alive” fame) he got a spontaneous, bad case of diarrhea and wound up having to go home before Yes played.

The bass line alone belongs in the Hall of Fame. One of my closest friends is one of the best bass players I've ever heard and it's a joy to watch him play it. I couldn't even try lol.

There are few groups in history more talented than Yes. I was a teenager in a band when Roundabout was released way back then and was stunned when I first heard this. It was light-years ahead of anything else at the time. We're talking like 55 years ago, and hearing it now, for the 1,000th time, I'm still appreciative of its excellence. Squire, Wakeman, Anderson. Howe....all masters.

I seen Yes live in concert when I was 16 at the Chicago stadium and what a concert it was I’m 64 and will never forget this song and their show. It’s just incredible seeing all these young folks enjoying what we have grown up on. Real music nothing fake about it. It gave me a huge smile on my face even now.

I remember when this song (and this album) burst onto the scene. In the midst of a generation of great music, when new bands seem to appear weekly, something entirely new to tantalize your ears. And this was the FIRST SONG on the album! Chris Squire inspired bassists for generations.

YES. One of the greatest bands of all time. Very few bands in history have at the time assembled some of the greatest musicians for one band.. Chris Squire on Bass is one of my all time favorites and ranked as one of the Greatest of all time.

He’s not the most talented bassist. I know bassists that don’t like him because he used a pick, or rather a coin. But he is my favorite bassist. His sound, composition, and presence in the song is what makes him so remarkable. I always think that he complements Jon’s vocals brilliantly. He was the first bassist that was an integral part of the sound of a band and wasn’t just part of the rhythm section

In 1973, I rode up to the front door, on a 1968 BSA Thunderbolt motorcycle, at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco to see YES live. They let me park the bike near the front door so they could keep and eye on it. I paid my $6.00 for a ticket and got in line to wait. Someone offered me a couple of hits off a HUGE doobie, then the next thing I know is that I'm pretty sure I enjoyed the show. Damn, if only I could remember it!!!!

Imagine how we felt listening to this back in the day. We had never heard anything like it. Saw them live they were incredible. Yes & Pink Floyd were so ahead of their time. Saw Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" tour in 1973. We were so lucky to be alive then. 😊❤❤

This is the song that turned me on to Rock and Roll. I think I was in 6th grade this year and we moved into a new neighborhood, and one day during the summer this boy, white boy who was my friend invited me to his home. He or his older siblings had this kind of like garage or addition to the house, and it was decked out with black light posters, and strobe lights, and an amazing stereo system, and incense "remember this was the early 70's" and he asked if I wanted to listen to Yes. Up to that point I mainly listened to Motown and the Jackson 5 were my fav group. He played this song Roundabout and OMG I had never heard anything like this and it opened my eyes and my soul to a new type of music, It literally mesmerized me. I continued of course to love Motown and J-5, but suddenly a large piece of me wanted more of this music and the door that opened let other bands rush through like Chicago, Black Sabbath, Elton John, Bowie, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Queen, and so much more. Even today in my 60's I listen to classic rock probably as mush as or more than any other music, and it's all because a little boy introduced me to a whole new world when I was 12 or 13

Another magisterial compilation! Thank you :) I saw Yes 3 times before they had a recording contract. First time Jon Anderson announced "the next song is another from our favourite musical West Side Story" they played 4 rock versions of Bernstein's songs, one Somethings Coming, made it to their first album, and a bunch of covers including Every Little Thing by The Beatles (with Day Tripper riffs). At that time (1968) they were bottom of the bill to Pink Floyd. At their first headlining concerts in 1970 David Bowie was bottom of the bill! Love your wonder work momma!

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I lost my daughter 2 years ago and her birthday was March 27. She would have been 17 this year. I didn't handle that date very well. I bought a lot of booze and did a lot of drinking. For me, forgetting is easier than remembering.

Saw these guys do this concert......set up in away i had never seen....instead of being at one end of Norfolk Scope (Virginia) they set up in the middle of Scope (basketball/hockey area) on a massive round stage that rotated slowly so everyone was totally entertained....you had to have been there....AMAZING

I love your compilations! I saw YES 3 times, live, in Summer, outside, under the stars, fantastic! Side note: When my baby daughter was hospitalized, during a bone marrow transplant, a few times the nurses would encourage me to take a break. I would go to my car and crank out YES. I saw them in an outdoor arena. It started to rain. They walked off & people were screaming Roundabout. They walked back on stage & played this in the pouring rain. We went home covered in mud. Unfortunately I only saw Yes live once, but it was incredible. It was at Red Rocks in '04 and Dream Theater opened for them. What impressed me the most, other than the unbelievable musicianship (from both bands!) was Jon's voice. He sounded exactly as he did when they recorded this all those years ago! One of the best shows I've ever seen!

Yes always delivers. This was great! If you like long hours of work (lol), check out reactions to their magnum opus, “Awaken.” Jon Anderson counts it as his favorite. It’s only 15+ minutes, piece of cake! The icing is the organ, which was played by Wakeman in a church in Switzerland, piped to the recording studio several miles away over the PHONE. In 1977.

So sorry for your loss. This was my favourite song. For a year. I've been a life long Yes fan since first hearing Roundabout in 1971. The next album was Close to the Edge in 1972. It edged it out of #1. They kept changing and innovating until they reached their peak (IMO) with Awaken in 1977. Roundabout may be more accessible but it's NOT their best song! Most fans of my vintage will agree. Great compilation! Loved it to the moon and back!

Hey grl hey, Killer band, such candy for the ears. I think Disney love them because in thr 80s my kids got into DTV which was Disneys version of MTV and they used quite a few of their songs.
