When the real boxing journalists are allowed to ask for the truth boxing will be a better sport, youtubers asking very carefully worded questions is not journalism. We need a full overhaul of how accountable the sport is. I also appreciate Adam trying on this subject but we all know it'll be swept under the rug and nobody will be allowed to ask for the actual details

I think this piece is the best and most accurate one we have had up until now. I have huge respect for this piece as every other journalist seems to be ducking the issue for fear of being sued.

Not much anyone can do about the WBC, but if the BBBofC/UKAD haven't changed their rules yet so that they recognize VADA tests, you'd have to question their competence. It's clear what Eddie's attitude to PEDs in boxing is.

The weirdest thing about this is the media it has driven. Many fighters are boxing now that are fan favorites that got popped for a lot worse than this. Tyson Fury, Canelo Alvarez etc etc, so why have the boxing media only gone after this??

So for me, it's pretty simple. He did a course of Testosterone and then used Clomerthene or how ever you spell it to start back up his own natural testosterone. He isn't the first, won't be the last. From his last two performances where his power has suddenly gone it looks pretty obvious. I also think this has been rife for years. This is boxing 'dirty' time same as cycling, MMA, Athletics. If you watch Nigel's ring walk against Gerald Maclennan he walks in with the 'Essex boys' known steroid and Amphetamine dealers who got executed in a gangland shooting. My point is boxers and 'the sauce' is nothing new. What made Connor's case really despicable was at the time he was fighting Eubank. They put rehydration clauses into the contract meaning he was fighting a severally depleted man at a lower weight when he already had a significant power advantage over them. For that I can't respect him anymore or support him. Too many boxers have been injured as a result of dehydration issues. It is and was just plain wrong.

Good post but be accurate...nothing re. Benn's career ever suggested he had a power advantage over Eubank Jnr. He certainly would have worn better if the fight went long though.

@beejj6190 Agreed, Eubank is the bigger fighter. My point was more pre the failed dope test Benn seemed to have devastating knockout power. Combine that with a weight drained opponent that may not of rehydrated fully could lead to a serious issue in the ring. After reading the book 'knockout' by Andy Clarke. Everything about Benn's actions left me feeling rather sick, especially as I was huge fan of Connor Benn.

Purely objective view with no bias. You are jumping ahead to what benn has to prove. Before you get to that, the authorities have to prove a doping violation. Whilst we previously thought that was clearly the case, based on the decision it seems they have decided not. Something may be wrong with the test.

we still don’t know whether he intentionally had the drug in his system or whether it was an accident. That is what UKAD and BBoC want to know. Benn has claimed that it wasn’t even in his system and that the testing was wrong. Because of that they’ve spent years wrangling over the wrong thing and not focussing on INTENT. Whilst you all say he’s served his time, he actually hasn’t if he can’t prove how it got in his system. That would carry a ban of 4 years!!!
