He is the lead singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour. The song is about a woman who helped him through tough times and he developed feelings for her, but she didn´t felt the same and in the end she let him down real good. Paul Gray, the bassist for Slipknot, helped him to finish the song and kinda forced it (against the opposition of some other band members who thought that song wasn´t their style), to be recorded on the album they were making. Some months later, Paul died after that album was released, now every time he performs this song, it has a double meaning, the woman that let him down and the passing of his long friend and band brother Paul.

I interpret "If I can change I hope I never know..." as him saying that "If I can change why couldn't I for the one I cared about the most?" Those kinda questions can destroy a person.

Indeed , beautiful interpretation Thank you for that ❤️

This was a heartfelt song, the mixed emotions that comes with a break up and the loss of a loved one. Would probably not have heard it unless I had seen this reaction so thank you 😊

Now you gotta react to more Slipknot songs. I recommend Surfacing first. It doesn't even sound like it's the same person singing both songs.
