Great reaction to how Courtney's journey began here in America. It actually started in England when she was much younger singing on the streets around her village (and other towns) for money to help her family financially. Her rise in popularity happened when she auditioned and was a finalist on The Voice Kids 2017 which I'm sure you'll get around to reacting to her audition "Nutbush City Limits" on that show. Never apologize for your genuine reaction or true emotions, especially when it comes to Courtney. Because she feels the music herself, she has a unique ability to touch your soul through a ballad or make you want to stand up and dance by belting out a rock-n-roll classic. Great job! Looking forward to more from you.

A little history into why Courtney seems so shy. (she recently told her fans she's not really shy. She just needs to get to know you before she becomes her crazy self). Before she was scheduled to go on stage she was so nervous they had to push her time slot back a few times because she was getting sick according to an interview on Sirius radio with Howie Mandel. She wasn't used to a stage this big and in a strange country for the 1st time with 1000's in the audience and knowing this audition might be watched by millions on TV later. She stated afterwards how she could be so nervous but yet perform the way she does. Her response was "Once she hears the music she turns into a different person." When you decided to react to her Voice Kids UK performances from 2017 please start with her audition. The shock factor of how she is perceived for the 1st time is always a key. And that audition is also an eye opening shocker. And needs to be watched from start to finish. Don't use The Voice Kids video. They will block you. Use this one where she performs it twice for judges. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXPQZqiCqbt-kNk

Glad you got to the audition that started the Courtzerization process. As usual you have one of the best reactions! I agree with the other suggestions about seeing her with the Struts and seeing her audition on the British Voice Kids. After that, there are some knockout ballads you should see when Courtney was younger. More details after the aforementioned reaction suggestions.

Love her vocals. She was actually on Britten's The Voice Kids the year before AGT but didn't do as well after making that show as it seems the British fans weren't as big on the classic rock vibe. When her previous experience became known during AGT it got her some negativity from the fans and likely cost her a better finish. Many thought her shyness on AGT was a contrived act and the Voice Kids experience only added fuel to that theory although we all know that isn't the case today. She is just shy. Her blind audition from her Voice Kids appearance is pretty good. She did a version of Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limits.

It's such a delightful surprise I remember, and began following her career after this. Her subsequent performances, and then the earlier (pre the Voice kids). It's obvious I love her singing voice, her mastery of drama, emotion and power and of course her talent for continuing to surprise us. She has worked hard for this and has just started to reap the rewards that all that hard work and dedication earned her. On top of all this, she retains the adorable gentle and down-to-earth nature which singles her out from many performers. Courtney will go far - very far, and I want that for her.

You do a great job with Courtney's reactions. I like how you've worked backwards with her, starting off with Old Town Road (which is spectacular). I honestly have not been so excited about a young artists future in I can't remember how long. I truly believe her career will be legendary. All we can hope for is her to have proper guidance as she winds her way down the entertainment road. Many have had great careers, many have had their careers cut way too short. I want Courtney to be there for decades and beyond.

the song ' Hard to Handle ' was by Otis Redding in 1967 and was originally intended for a male singer. Her version iz closer to the Cover by the Black Crowes in the 1990's. Courtney picked up on James Brown when she was 11 and has adapted his performing style when young to her own. She has incorporated moves from a number of primarily black artists including Little Richard, Jackie wilson, Michael Jackson , Etta james, Aretha Franklin and others . She picked up the active use of the stage to help draw audiences while busking for tips to help with lessons and expenses.

A little info on her first appearance at AGT. Courtney schould have started far earlier in the program. Twice they had to postpone her start because of her nervousness. There, she got sick and threw up. So they let her start last. That's why Mel B talks to her calmly. She is shy until she gets to know people. I know exactly how she feels because I'm just like her. I also feel sick and nervous when I meet new people, whom I do not know. Or you should talk to a group of people then I just want to sink through the floor. Even if you can handle it better when you get older and it may not be visible from the outside, you feel it yourself on the inside.

Seeing her do this audition for the 1st time by anyone always leaves peoples jaws dropped to the floor. But even if you know who Courtney is this audition always gets people excited. But it would have been best if you watch this for the 1st maybe 2nd time. It's why it's always suggested early on so often to newby's.

I read somewhere once, I think it was an interview article with Howie Mandel that Clive Davis talked to Howie and told him she's the real deal. And if you didn't catch it Clive Davis was the guy who discovered and signed Janis Joplin when she was very young. I was watching a bunch of older Courtney Hadwin videos refreshing my memory of how good those videos are. I hope you continue watching and reacting to Courtney. She has so many great videos that make you feel amazed at how entertaining she has been over a 6 year period and her best is still yet to come as she matures into a woman. Even at age 9 you get the feeling of Holy crap, who is this girl. At such an early age Courtney had so much passion energy and fun, and she could sing. I just watch her perform "And I Telling You" by Jennifer Hudson at The Voice kids finals. Wow, she was so powerful and dynamic in that performance. She got criticised for overdoing it. But I don't thing those critics understood how advanced Courtney was at 12 years old compared to all other kids her age. She had no fear to act out her feelings and her facial expression and body movements showed her fearlessness. Throwing the mic stand to the ground upset some people but it was a real rock star move and I think most people enjoy it. Great video.
@rickpyzyna14854 жыл бұрын
I love that performance by Courtney also. I know everyone associates "I'm Telling You" with Jennifer Hudson after she was in the movie version of Dreamgirls in 2006. But the role and the first version of the song was originated by Jennifer Holliday in 1982. Jennifer Holliday released it as a single in 1982 and it reached number 1 on the R & B charts. Here's a link to Jennifer Holliday performing "And I'm Telling You" in 1982: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGa7eoCNoct5oNU. I don't know whether Courtney saw Jennifer Holliday's version before she put together her performance for the Voice Kids, but I wouldn't put it past her as it was readily available on KZbin. Anyway, from my limited perspective, Courtney's wonderful interpretation of that song seems very akin to Jennifer Hudson's original version.
@bertpainter83854 жыл бұрын
@@rickpyzyna1485 I should have mentioned Jennifer Holliday. My bad on that. Jennifer Hudson seems to be what most relate to. Kinda like "Me and Bobby McGee" was written originally by Kris Kristofferson while many thought it was by Janis Joplin. Anyway that was a special performance. At first I didn't catch her slamming the mic stand to the floor until I noticed it laying on the stage. I had to watch it again to catch when she did it. I was so mesmerized by her performance and passion. I try not to mention others on Courtney reactions so I won't mention her name here but you may have seen this one already. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpyodJWbl5h0kLc

@@bertpainter8385 I don't know if you've ever seen the coaches' comments after Courtney's final performance on the Voice Kids as none of the current youtube videos contains them uncut. Anyway, there is an instagram page that has the whole final performance, including the comments. Hare are the links if you haven't seen them before: instagram.com/p/BqjY8ftnAAq/ and instagram.com/p/BqjX7pTHHdN/ There's no question that Pixie, Danny & Will i am all knew how special that performance and how advanced Courtney was. Will i am was already looking ahead to Courtney's originals. And there's some cool stuff about Courtney throwing the mic stand.
@bertpainter83854 жыл бұрын
@@rickpyzyna1485 Thanks Rick. It's been awhile since I watched those. I now follow whomever that channel belongs to on Instagram. That's a great channel for all Courtney fans to see. So so many clips of her to watch. I do think Pixie was so impressed and wasn't sure if Jess Foley, who she was the coach for, would win over Courtney's performance. But it seemed who ever did the voting for that show prefered Jess's more conventional style. They were both excellent performances but I think it just came down to taste. But in my eye Courtney won because she came in there with a style very few could remember or relate to from their TV audience. The crowd at the show obvious loved it. lol

Great reaction, as usual, STWJ! You're just as surprised as us how this shy girl off stage can turn into such a lioness as soon as the music begins! 😱 You are flying through these Courtney reactions! LOVE IT! 💖For the next one, I'd suggest you review her audition for Voice Kids UK which she did 1 year prior to AGT, at the age of ONLY 12!! Like AGT, she made it to the finals of The Voice Kids, but lost. In this performance, she sings Tina Turner's "Nut Bush City Limits". 🔥🔥 This was a huge point of Courtney's career. Although her AGT audition was THE seminal moment of her music career, this one is also important because if Danny doesn't turn his chair and pick her, AGT probably never happens and who knows what happens to Courtney? Anyway, ENJOY! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4bKnJhjit6XjtE

I saw them interviewed on TV where they said that one of them would always turn as they didn't want to have a child go through it and nobody turns. That is why he asked her was she moving around.
