This is such a fun song. It is almost impossible to sit still with it playing. High energy, cool grooves, great to see her having fun. This is a masterpiece of a music video and song.

Hey JB, great reaction to my favorite artist, as always. That is a great song co-written by Courtney and Kevin Bowe, well-known songwriter and producer. They also co-wrote her other original this year, Breakable, an emotional ballad reacting to trials and tribulations Courtney has experienced in the past 5 years. It's a different vibe from That Girl Don't Live Here which has rock/swing/jazz leanings contemporized in Courtney's inimitable style. I hope you react to Breakable!

Great reaction! That was a blast! Yeah she wrote that with the help of her producer Kevin Bowe. I didn't realize you hadn't seen this one yet you've done so many Courtney videos. Sorry to hear you've been struggling. I'll keep that in mind for when I got a few bucks I wanna spend on a reaction. See you then!

Hi Jaybee. Always love your Courtney reactions. It always feels like you're a fan as much as a reactor. IMO, you were spot on in your insight as to the primary message in the song and video, but I think there is more than just the single message. More on what I'm thinking about that below, but first the song. Absolutely terrific song by Courtney and the lyrics are brilliant. It has such a good vibe that you can't listen to it and not to want to move with it. It's a complete 360 in style from her first original release, 'Breakable', which was a beautiful ballad, and just serves as a reminder that Courtney can sing just about anything and be great at it. If it wasn't Courtney singing, and you weren't aware of the incredible versatility she has, you'd be surprised that both of these songs could come from the same artist. I love how so many people view Courtney as this hard core, full out, stage dominating rocker, and then, when she releases her own music, she leads with a sensational gritty ballad (Breakable), and follows it up with an uptempo, jazzy song that has the feel almost of 1940's Swing. (That Girl Don't Live Here). Not only is the song fabulous, but the video is a work of art and perfect for the song. First, as you say, Courtney is singing about no longer being that 13 year old girl everyone fell in love with on AGT, and which a core group of fans want her to remain, which of course is impossible. Courtney, with her incredible creativity, used that theme to drive the video, in such a unique way. Past/young Courtney sees new/current Courtney in the video and follows her through the closet/looking glass into a whole new world, in this case Wonderland (from Alice in Wonderland). Secondly, for the last four plus years, the labels have tried to twist Courtney into something she didn't want to be. Another pop princess. Courtney stood her ground and said 'No'. Fortunately for all of us, she did, because no one else makes music like Courtney does. As soon as she could, at the beginning of this year, she walked away from her label and went independent. It's only my interpretation, but at the beginning of the video, when someone comes to the door asking her to sign something and she turns them away, this represents the labels, with whom she is done with. Now that the labels are gone, she has released two fantastic originals in the last few months. Lastly, when all the paparazzi come to the door and she turns them away, I think that she is saying that to be able to release the kind of music I love is more important than the possible loss of fame if I have to sell out to get it. Not only a great artist, but the courage and strength to be true to herself. When Courtney is in control of her own destiny, amazing things happen. She has such a huge library of material that she has written over the last several years that she couldn't release. She's shared much of it, in whole or in part, with her fans, and the material is sensational. She has become such a powerhouse as a songwriter. Now that she controls her own music, it has been said to expect a release approximately every month. So you're going to be very busy. Can't wait to see you reacting to all of Courtney's new original material.

To be clear, I am a full-on metalhead. Personally, it says a lot that she broke through the metal barrier with ease and is a top-tier favorite of mine. Three simple reasons: #1 and without question her voice, #2 her stage and on-screen presence, #3 her refreshing originality. Nice reaction, and hope things work out on your end.

Love your reaction! Your energy is like hers. This particular song of hers pulls from all the best styles of the last century. It has influences from flapper era, big band, rock n roll, the big hair 80's and beyond. I'm an old classic rock fuddy-duddy lady. This tune will take twenty years off anyone. For some reason, it made me think of Bowe/Jagger Dancing in the Streets even though that was a totally different genre.

It won't hit something like billboard unless it can be released as a single, and played on radio or streaming service.
