Okk this video is old and probably you won't see this but finally a reaction of this song were people give actual importance and thought to the lyrics. Some more info: I don't think this is meant to be necessarily a love song. Is more a song about loneliness in this technological world, Feeling tired and fed up with all this constant need that people have of showing off. This song matches Dean pretty well, if you look at his instagram, he hardly posts pictures of himself, or if he does, they are silly ones. He stated multiple times that he doesn't want his appearence to influence the way people perceive his music, he experiments with his looks because he doesn't care about lookin pretty, and that's one of the reasons I love him so much. He is a very honest and humble person, a true artist (he takes often part in the artistic direction of his videos; I bet most of the crazy artistic ideas are his) but he also seems to be a very shy and sometimes lonely individual. And I think he's so relatable. He always expressed how he's not a particular fan of "being famous" and all that comes with it, he simply wants to make music. About the song: I am pretty sure the speech part is just him with a robotic voice. The screen is black because is supposed to reflect you, who are watching, maybe on the phone, late at night, to make you think about how, after all, when looking at a screen, we're all alone... Yeah... I know it's pretty deep. He even posted that black pic on insta writing "instagram: starring me and you" or smth like that. As for Robinson Crusoe, he's the protagonist of a novel that basically ends up in a desert island alone. And is used to describe that feeling when you feel like everyone is living in a different world because you only see their happy moments on social media, and compared to them your life seems shit. Obviously people only show their best side on the web. Another interesting thing that I wanna add is the line "In the whole world it's the same love song". This is my favourite line and I think it referres to the fact that people nowadays express their emotion always in the same way, because we have been taught how to do it through social media. We have been tought how to look, how to live, abd therefore how to love. So every love song is starting to sound the same. Onestly. After reading the lyrics, I just wanted to give Dean a big hug.

I think the water effect relates to the "square ocean" he mentioned. This means he's sinking in that square ocean and the voice implies to the situation when you're so lonely that you can't see anyone but yourself, your voice. Everything is BLACK, not white, not colorful. Inside you, everything is black (full of sadness, loneliness and scare)

Lol it's not! 😅 He is referring to the Instagram grids. He is pretty much saying that everyone is trapped in those square instagram grids made up of false, pretentious imagery. A Phone's LCD is never a rectangle.

I think the killing part was him self-asking-and-answering his ex how's she doin and sayin her short hair looks pretty. That part just gets me every freaking time xD . Also, could you react to MAMAMOO's Starry Night? Everybody who stans Kpop for several years are agreeing that it is THE most beautiful music video in recent years (in the recent decade dare i say loll i've stanned kpop for 10 years) (It was shot in New Zealand btw). In my opinion, it is about his ex-girlfriend. it has deep lyrics warning about SNS too, but the main story is about he still has feeling about his ex. and he suffers from ex's instagram. he said that too many information makes him more miserable. and more he sees he feels lonley. and asks break up some one is this hard? and the end of song he asks about her news. I really like how you guys got the message super fast, and also how you watched the video WITH THE CAPTIONS ON. Not many reactors do the same, and they fail to understand the message. The Robinson Crusoe line is an excerpt from the Netflix show, The End of the Fxxxing World. Recommended watch. Basically a story about 2 kids fighting an existentialist crisis which Dean is referring to in his song. In the song there's a part when he asks if he's living in the same world as what he's seeing on instagram so he is very much going through an existentialist crisis himself.
