@@Metzwerg74doctor who has ALWAYS been woke. It was created by a queer guy, a woman and others and in its first few seasons had black characters on TV nearly 7 years before the end of the civil rights movement. Let’s not pretend it’s new. If you think it is you clearly aren’t a fan of the show 😂😂
@bookswithike325610 ай бұрын
@@Metzwerg74 As a certified wokist, I did not enjoy most of the Chibnall era. And while I loved Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle up until the thing that happens, I'm ultimately against the existence of the 60th anniversary specials. But the Christmas special was a good, fun time and I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here. The problem with the Chibnall era wasn't that it was woke - it's actually the least woke Doctor Who has been since at least 2005, and I would argue 1970 - it was because it was bland and badly written with no actual characters to speak of and an out of character Doctor. And there was seriously nothing significantly woke about The Church on Ruby Road. There are the people who praise everything Doctor Who no matter what, and they're wrong. But there are also people who slap the woke label on any post-2017 Doctor Who and use that to say that it's bad, and they're also wrong. And wrong in a worse way because they're being bigots about it.
@gazzamanazza4pm10 ай бұрын
Can we not do this in the replies to my comment, please? I never asked for this. For what it's worth, while I think the writing quality took a gradual dip through the Moffat era and continued doing so into the Chibnall era, I still enjoyed the show and wouldn't call it "destroyed" in any way, and I thought that while some of the choices made in the recent anniversary and Christmas specials were odd, I think they were well written again and that's what I wanted. Also, anyone who's unironically complaining about "wokeness," *especially* in as progressive a show as Doctor Who, is clearly just clowning on themselves. You don't have to like every choice made in the writing, but pinning it all on this nebulous concept of "wokeness" (a concept that has lost all meaning by this point) is absurd. Take a moment to think about what your actual problem with the writing or show is, and then think about why you feel the way you do about it. Finally, consider the best and most appropriate way to articulate those thoughts, and then make a choice about whether it's worth the trouble of posting it or not. That's all I have to say there. I'm not replying to any responses to this, by the way, just in case someone wants to have a go. I've no interest in a pointless Internet spam war.

Metzwerg74 has been hidden from the channel so any additional comments they make in the future won't be able to be seen by anyone other than them. The payoff for four years of TV was immense. It has Torchwood, Sarah Jane, Martha, Rose, Harriet, Wilf and Sylvia, and a few more next episode. We get to see the Shadow Proclamation and the Medusa Cascade, the arcs around the lost planets, things being hidden a second out, and the bees disappearing all get explained. There is teleportation from the Sontarans, and the subwave network even makes the Master's repeating four notes.

Something a lot of people miss, the whole thing with the 27 planets being hidden a second out of sync with the rest of the universe, well the Sontarans did the same thing with the A.T.M.O.S devices. The Doctor made a very fast and almost unintelligible comment about it when he discovers the device's secret function. It's cool that even the tiniest things in Series 4 get paid off in this finale. Something that I think later series fumbled at. Moffat certainly tried, but it would've helped if he actually wrapped up plotline instead of just piling more on top of the unresolved ones. From what I can tell, Chibnall's plans were dashed by covid and the restructuring of series 13 into what became FLUX, but yeah, there was so much set up in his era that was just never resolved or explored.

The Harriet Jones sub network sound effects of the drum pattern/beat. Hmm I didn't realise they put it there so early then the specials where it has more relevance. That and fhe knock 4 times part of those specials. The writers put so many details in this episode its packed. Thr writing taking a nose dive years later sigh. The amount of Mr Cooper, (think just this episode) or Magpie (lot of Magpie in certain episodes) and other references the show throws at us I always missed but realise now. I mean many Doctors is one thing but many companions like this is great rather than just 3 companions or so of Classic Who. Did you manage to avoid spoilers of donnas return?
@BritanyBinges9 ай бұрын
Sort of. lol There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to avoid spoilers for her or David's return (for multiple reasons). So, it was decided that I would be intentionally spoiled by reacting to edits of 13's regeneration and the trailer for the special. The edited versions gave nothing away except that David and Catherine were coming back. The reaction to those edits is available for absolutely anyone to watch using this link: www.patreon.com/posts/doctor-who-to-94364630

This was the last new episode of Dr. Who that I ever watched. Either I had become too mature, or the series had become too silly. Everything that I have heard about the last few years of the show confirms that my decision was correct.

most of Peter Capaldi's run is quite enjoyable in my opinion. less silly than Matt Smith and Jodie Whittaker. A veteran actor like Peter Capaldi made the role shine. just my two cents. hope you will give Peter Capaldi a try

I don't know what to say about future seasons, but you're totally wrong for calling this stage of show and specially 2008-2010 specials as silly. they were absolutely not

Can't wait to see your reaction to the beginning of the next episode. And also "binary binary binary...."
