I love the woman who is "definitely going to help" - she's bright, capable and beautiful, everything you expect in a TV show to make her a good guy, and... she does not help. She sides with the strong, the team she judges will win, she resists change. She does, in fact, what people tend to do, and it's so much more memorably uncomfortable

@@YorkshireInsight26 I can't really rate companions against one another. I usually rate them based on the stories they are involved with. For the stories told (with David Tenant), Donna is an excellent companion. For the stories told with Martha, she's an excellent companion. The same goes with Matt Smith and the Ponds. Excellent companions for those stories. I can even say that the stories told with Rose were absolutely fantastic for her character. The "guest" companion of Sarah Jane was absolutely amazing when it comes to both her, and the story. Especially given that she was the 4th Doctor's companion, when I first started watching the show. I could be a little biased because of that..... but I still really enjoyed seeing her again. May she RIP. I am very much looking forward to the 60th anniversary special, because of the connections to the past.

We are a long, long way from being accepting enough of our own differences to yet to be ready to meet an Alien race because one thing is pretty sure if we ever do meet Aliens, they'll not look like David Tennant. This is one of my absolute favourite episodes of Doctor who of all time. I love how absolutely full of emotion this episode is, I love the fact RTD took an already established species which we only knew a little bit about and delved deeper into their backstory. The episode is clearly a blatant take on RTDs opinions on capitalism but idm it here because it’s nice to see the tenth doctor side with the aliens for a change. I especially love the fact the episode leaves us to constantly question who the villains of the story are, the ood lashing out at humanity, the red eye representing anger, rabid representative of revenge and patience representative of the ood intelligence and sentience. The scene of the Ood singing in captivity breaks my heart ♥️ every single time. I won’t even lie to you when I say that the whole time I watch the episode I fully support the Ood because, the humans in this story deserve what come to them for how they treat Ood kind. The end scene where the Ood are finally free and we hear them sing 🎶 together in harmony as they are finally freed. One of my favourite favourite episodes of S4, probably in my top 3 of 4 episodes. One criticism often said against Planet Of The Ood is that this is to Doctor Who what Raiders Of The Lost Ark is to Indiana Jones (in that technically the story doesn't change if Indy/The Doctor wasnt there) personally disagree but even if nothing changes without them, The Doctor & Donna were still a catalyst in speeding up events happening. Spookily timed, Big Finish just released the 2nd in its trilogy of Torchwood stories where the remaining 3 from the Torchwood team in Impossible Planet/Satan Pit interact with the ood earlier this week. Weirder still, the actor who played Mr Bartel (the guy who died just before the opening credits), would go on to play someone called Mr Colchester, a member of a Torchwood team thats exclusive to Big Finish-where the Ood go, Torchwood often isnt far behind I guess).
@BritanyBinges Жыл бұрын
Umm, I think I forgot that the team from Impossible Planet/Satan Pit were Torchwood. That is funny timing, though. I've listened to a couple of the 9th Doctor Big Finish audios, but I haven't listened to any Torchwood ones.

@@BritanyBinges think the leader (Zach?) says something to the tune of "This is Captain Zach of Sanctuary Base 6, representing the Torchwood Archive, asking who are you?" to the Devil/Ood To be honest it's only that line of dialogue in the mainline show & 4 Big Finish stories (one of which isn't out yet and in all honesty Big Finish is lot more niche (definitely more expensive) than the TV stuff.) that give any notion that the expedition team was Torchwood/had Torchwood members in the team. Like Zach definitely was a Torchwood member (being in 2 Torchwood Big Finish stories & saying so on screen). Based on their Big Finish stories in the Ood trilogy at the moment being part of the Torchwood range; the Archeologist that went down in the lift with the Doctor (Ida Scott?) & the Guy in charge of Ood (Danny?) probably were part of the Torchwood Archive team as well (or unofficial members like Rhys & Andy in the Torchwood TV series). Like for the rest of the expedition, their Torchwood status is a grey area (again either being allies/unofficial members or being full on members).

@@BritanyBinges NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! You have never seen Sherlock?!!! Here's a fun fact for you then. When writing for Doctor Who (and writing one of the best episode's you've seen) and traveling to Cardiff by train, during those long rides, Steven Moffat loved musing with Mark Gatiss about their love for Doctor Who, but also their shared love for Sherlock and what a modern man he was. Wondering how this man would thrive in modern London, they fantasized about it, untill Steven Moffat's wife said:"Well, write the show itself". Ofcourse, as his wife is also a producer, she wanted to produce the show if only 'that creepy guy for Atonement' would play Sherlock and as Benedict Cumberbatch agreed, we got this amazing show. Only it happened at the same time as Steven Moffat also became the showrunner for Doctor Who (series 5 to 10), you can imagine we only got 3 episode's par season and not even every year. So only 13 episode's in total for Sherlock. I think it's do-able, but are you up for it?

The thing about the bees was actually true in the UK, so at the time nobody really thought of it as a plot line more just a commentary on current life. As there was genuinely a shortage of bees in the UK as thousands of them hadn’t survived the previous winter and then scientists thought it was also down to phone signals decreasing their numbers even more, Reactors have the benefit of living 15 years in the future though so they always manage to pick up on the hints that we didn’t realise were hints at the time 😂

I could've have taken that out because I know how it sounds but I left it in because I went on the journey the show wanted me to go on. I didn't have all the information at that point in time. As we learn the truth, the thought of the Ood being sold and used to serve others is abhorrent and heartbreaking (hence the tearing up when Donna heard their song for the first time).

I have to say with respect and i enjoy your reactions and honesty but i think that's a vanity point of view your a tiny bit mean about the Ood's appearance we can't compare every species that they are going to look humanoid or human looking they are going to have different customs to what a human looks like from their point of view we probaly look gross to them they can't be as too gross as the absorbaloff 😂. This is one of my favourite episodes because not only I like the Ood but also it's good to have the Doctor and his companion on an alien planet which NuWho doesn't do often enough because stories are always often taken place on earth, london, earth, london, earth and it was a nice change yes Donna does take awhile to like but it's the same with every new companion though it be nice to have an alien companion every now and then.

It's not the fact that they don't look humanoid or that they look different at all. I find the tendrils on their face extremely unpleasant to look at.
