I'm surprised that "11:11" failed to qualify, especially because they had momentum on their side going into the semi-final. Listening back on the performance...good God, what happened to Kenzy's vocals? I felt like that was what did it in. Same thing with One Milkali (One Blood); it seemed that Electric Fields had the audiences' attention going into the semi-final. Speaking of momentum, that's an interesting analysis of "Pedestal" and how people had to grow to like it. I personally enjoyed it, as it reminded me of the early-2000s pop-punk phase. I wonder what would've happened had it been framed a such instead, rather than a good song with questionable vocals. I would've loved to see this qualify, but not at "Ulveham"'s expense. Aww man, "Before the Party's Over" has to be the strongest song of the bunch, but I do agree with you in terms of failing to provide buildup before the last minute. I thought the MV had good ideas in terms of staging inspiration; I thought that in Malmo, it was a matter of refining the concept rather than scrapping it altogether (e.g. better camera angles, darker lighting, etc.). But Mustii's vocals really did him in; you could notice him going sharp from the first chorus.
@raphaeltm5208Ай бұрын
Moldova: The NF staging was a big nope, they improved it, the vocals were good, but ultimately the song is very weak. Albania: The English and the revamp for me killed the song. The lyrics and song's structure in English seem weird. It was clearly translated INTO English. San Marino: I think it was good, but it's San Marino, when you have Senhit and FloRida with a very good song but ultimately it flopped, idk what they can do more. Azerbaijan: So boring, even the second guy couldn't save it. Australia: Total trainwreck. Very bad vocals, the dress is a disaster, staging is a mess. Iceland: I agree, DOA. This would do great in 90's or early 00's. Czechia: It was good, this actually could be a finalist. Belgium: This was disappointing, because studio version is way way better than live, the vocals were a big downgrade. Plus, he has no big charisma and seemed weird sometimes, maybe due to poor staging. Denmark: Static performance is not necessarily bad, but this is so generic and flavorless. Better than Love is Forever, though. Poland: Terrible vocals, but exceptional staging, I think they couldn't do more. Malta: This is great, the staging improved the song a lot, but the song itself is weak. Doing Eleni Foureira / Chanel works.

Denmark should have its Anouk moment. The Dutch and Danish have many similarities but every year it is a bit disappointing. I loved Reddi but it was never gonna be a winning song. As of 2020 I think Malta had a chance with 'All of my love' but the performance should have been perfection. Anyway, I agree on almost every case. It's either the vocals or the staging and some goodwill from the public. I'm not sure what to expect for 2025. More native languages? More (gothic) rock? Lithuania, Serbia, Slovenia and maybe Montenegro presenting this new sound? Ireland being brave again? Ukraine giving us quality? This is a competition but I think for most of the viewers this isn't about nationality. Look at Finland and Slovenia. It used to be different but the public vote has changed. I'm looking forward to see what is happening. Not the drama we have seen last year but maybe a future of ESC?

I got a long post but here we go.. I basically agree with everything you said, but got some stuf to add. Moldova needed the clones back. And they could have given it a mysterious feel on stage, but meh! Albania's song was not good to begin with, i agree. San Marino and Malta have that problem where they need to give real quality in order to be noticed like with Destiny, and the chameleon song from Michela. As a studio cut i actually prefer Loop over Liar, but Cyprus can send something average and still qualify. Azerb song was indeed dated. AU indeed messed up with the staging and poor promotion, and his vocal was not good enough either. Iceland was dated, period. Hera deserved a better song, and i agree they were voting against that other song. CR made perfect use of the stage and props, but i don't think people were interested in that kind of rocksong this year. Belgium indeed had a song problem. Gustaf song was dated, but if you still know how to sell it, it will turn heads. And the staging was amazing with the white and pink. Denmark song was too generic and basic, and she was not moving much either. It felt like a rejected Swedish production song. Poland actually did too much the wrong way.. and the vocals were not good either. I still like the studio cut though. And yes im gonna need Malta to drop the 30 songs nf stuff. It's hurting them.

I agree that some of the songs had the wrong introduction, either with non-revamped unpolished version or with poor vocals on stage or with a bad music video. But here's the thing - I don't think that the majority of viewers on the night were aware of it. I agree that Malta, Czechia, and Australia all botched their intros, but I feel like other aspects are also involved. In case of Malta, I feel like there is a certain element of robbery for it being a microstate. Give this song and performer to Norway or Greece and it's an easy qualifier. Malta and San Marino need to put a triple effort only to qualify. They need a top 10-worthy song to scrape through. On the other end, Ukraine or Sweden would need a disaster of major proportions to not qualify. Sadly, the playing field is not the same. Similar with San Marino. Sure, the vocals were not the cleanest, but give it to Finland, vocals and all, it's through. Australia had a staging that, much like its music video, didn't have a narrative, and plodded around. Also, some people are biased against a dark-skinned man dressed in feminine clothes. I mean, the song isn't among my qualifiers either, but I feel like if a beautiful white diva in a gown sang it, many fans would be all ''slay kween'' over it. Czechia... maybe just isn't a really strong song, sorry... I respect people liking it, but I find the chorus a bit jarring. I agree that the staging was right, and that she improved. I love Belgian song, but yeah... the staging and his singing could have been much better. :( Moldova's staging was too bright for this sentiment. This isn't Loin D'Ici. That's a bubbly song. In the Middle is a dark song. No way it should have been staged that way. Poland was really all over the place with the staging. Also, her vocals were tad off at places. And also, the song is very catchy and cute, but gets too repetitive. Albania, Azerbaijan, Denmark, and especially Iceland just had uneventful songs that also didn't pop-up on stage, and I feel like non-qualifications were obvious. In fact, if Sand was by Malta or San Marino, it would not have finished as ''high'' as 12th, but last.
