My interpretation of “I know I’ll never get it,” is her saying I can’t EMPATHIZE with you, but I can SYMPATHIZE. Meaning she’s not in her shoes. She can’t feel her moms fears herself, but she can feel as much as possible being so close to it but not experiencing the diagnosis herself.

Wow. Very insightful and powerful.

Yup, as someone with a chronic illness myself( not cancer,) there are just things that my family no matter how close they are or how much they love me, they’ll never understand. There have been times when I try and explain what something feels like and I’m like “you know when you can’t breath and ____” and their like “no no idea or “you know how when you have __ pain and __ happens” And again im like “what am I doing you have no idea what I’m talking about. But then I go on my facebook groups and I hear people describe what certain things feel like and I’m like “woah okay, someone gets it, I’m not alone “

Watching Taylor one interview, she was talking about going to the mall with her friends. So she calls them, yet each one says they’re not going...no, not today. She asks mother to take her anyway. They get to the mall, she and her mother...and there are her friends. They lied to her. They didn’t want her to go, they straight up lied to her. Her relationship with her mother is so important. So strong. Her mother is always there.

For the "I know delusion when I see it in the mirror" I think it corresponds to another line in the verse "I just pretend it isn't real". It's almost like she's trying to convince herself that things are okay and that there's nothing wrong so to speak, but she cant trick herself. That's just what I think

I thought the same. I have a chronic illness myself, been sick since the day I was born, and when you have those good days, whose good weeks and it keeps going you tell yourself you’re fine, “it’s all gonna be okay” you do anything you can to avoid thinking about your reality
@tassomando53915 жыл бұрын
The first time I heard the first line of "soon you'll get better" I started crying. Since I am a swiftie since 2008 I got somehow attached to Andrea Swift as well. I am sure all the swifties feels the same way. So to know that she is going through something terrible makes me so upset and sad. I really hope and pray she recovers from it.

I think the "I know delusion when I see it..." line is the start of Taylor referring to how she is coping with her mother's illness. Hence her "painting the kitchen neon" and doing all these sorts of things to improve the situation.
@alicepahler76105 жыл бұрын
I cry every time I hear this song. Taylor said they had a family meeting because she wasn't sure she should include this song in the album, and they decided it should be. She did say she wasn't sure if she could sing it in her tours. Taylor also wrote a song and made a video for her Mom called "The Best Day" that tells you all about their close relationship. I was sorry to hear about Gaga's cancer, but am so happy she is fine now. I think you have a beautiful family.

I lost a parent over 2 years ago, he had liver and asophogus cancer and in this song the verse that sticks out to me the most is the bridge "i hate to make this all about me.. but who am I supposed to talk to, what am i supposed to do, if theres no you. This wont go back to nornal, if it ever was. It's been years of hoping and I keep saying it because, cause I have to." That's exactly how I felt during my uncle/parent figures' treatment, he raised me for 15 years of my life alongside my mothers brother as a couple and we were a fanily and sadly with my immediate family I felt and still do to this day feel like I can't talk to them about it because I fear that I will be judged and looked at as if im making it about me and only me, that's not the case but there are times i do say to my close friends i hate to make this situation all about me for a second because it's not just the person going through the treatment it's the family thats effected by it too. Someone asked me whats it was like to have a loved one go through cancer (my dads dad is going through treatment currently as well) and i simply said a rollercoaster, you get the all clear your so happy and then your suddenly told they only have 3 days to live and then your trying to emotionally and mentaly prepare yourself for grief as for me at that time I had never lost someone close to me before but then he was fine and 3 months after that he passed and the saddest but kind of beautiful part is that he passed the day after his and my uncles 15th anniversary together. So it's definitely a rollercoaster. So I seeked comfort in my close knit friends and my furbabies who i actually picked my first furbaby up the same day he had passed and it wasn't planned so it was meant to be ❤ I miss him every day and also since he passed I feel his and my great grandmas energy and spirit all the time and it gives me comfort now ❤ Loved your reaction and i appreciate your stories ❤❤ sending only love out to everyone ❤

I am 35 years old & was diagnosed with Melanoma in October of 2022. Thankfully, mine was the Superficial Spreading Type of Melanoma. (In situ. Stage zero!) I got really, REALLY lucky. My 13yo son and I listened to this together and my sweet boy just hugged me and we both cried. I was very optimistic, even after my diagnosis. I have a wonderful team of Doctor's & Specialists that are ensuring I am able to be in my sons life as long as humanly possible. (Considering the age I was diagnosed with Melanoma and my extremely fair tone skin; the likelihood that it will reoccur is higher than with others/most others.) I was diagnosed in October and thankfully, Cancer free by the end of December! Please, everyone, go get your skin checked. It only takes a few minutes and I promise that you will be grateful that you have peace of mind, when your checkup goes well! I just had my 6 month checkup and my skin looked great! I'll see them again in 6 months, for forever! #MelanomaAwareness 🖤🎗🖤
