Brandon you did kill me.. Putting this reaction online while I was working..that's not fair.. I had to stop and watch it.. Maybe it was my 100 times... And It just kills me all the time.. The way she whisper, she cry and sings.. Her soul and heart open out to people... 100% involved with her body, her soul, her vulnerability. And her amazing voice and resonance... I guess to hear people weeping and drops falling (from 4.30... absolute silence, weep, drops running within the audience I'm sure ). Incredible artist.. Incredible what she is able to do and transmit to us.. ❤❤❤❤❤

@@tnae Quizá me expliqué mal. 😘😘😘

one song, two very unique performances from Lara, it deserves two reactions. Last month, Brandon reacted to "Love by grace" from the "From Lara with love" concert (2000) and I deeply think that the "Live at Juno Awards" version (2001) also deserves an analysis because Lara, just sitting there, with her expressions and her voice, is breathtaking.

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during is own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone. Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on. The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3m2qp5qiKynq7s is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella. Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaqsfZeIdrSGbpo

Stupendous is the word. I hadn't seen this version of Lara performing this song before -- I almost wrote 'singing this song' but obviously that description is wildly insufficient. Even 'performing' seems not enough. Beautiful, heart-wrenching, enveloping... so many words could apply. I was captured by Lara's soul, and not for the first time.

God, I wish I could have had the opportunity to see her live. It would have been something that I would carry with me forever. Great reaction as usual sir.

Lara really has the voice of any angel. She is able to tell the story and her dramatic pauses are there to get you to hang onto the last sentence to process what she has sung and draw you in to the next line. It's like the singing equivalent of a cliffhanger. She really is an excellent storyteller and an even more fantastic singer. She sings in French, Italian, her mother tongue, Spanish, Japanese and of course English. She came into prominence at the same time as Céline whom I love but I love this lady's voice even more. She really is untouchable. Not only is she a very talented Lyric Soprano, she is a first-class song writer. Yes the translation is 100% and conveys the meaning in a not so fluent or natural way in English so could do with some jigging but you get what she's saying. The song is about a very toxic love/relationship. She is in love with someone who really doesn't care about her, who has totally taken over her being - drained her emotionally in every way. Yet she can't get away from this love, even though she feels trapped and void of her words, her happiness and knows that her lover doesn't give a damn, yet there is no escape hence her despair. She makes a reference to her childhood which leaves the listener believing that this relationship is as a result of how she was treated as a child and has become like a self-fulfilling prophecy. It was written by Serge Lamas and Alice Dona, both French singer songwriters. It was sung by Serge at a much slower pace and explains why some of the things that Lara sings sound a little odd at times. Apart from the obvious gender agreement, for instance, she sings comme un gosse idiot which identifies the singer as a man, she would normally sing comme une gosse idiote etc. She also talks about smoking and drinking whiskey which normally are very masculine but not entirely traits associated with men. Don't shoot the messenger lol! I have a few other singers sing this song. Dallida is also another great who sings this song with great emotion. She also dives into her own emotions and digs deep into her own tragedies which ended in her taking her own life sadly. But I have to say, no one sings this song and is able to tell the story like Lara. When they say that you don't have to understand the language to understand the song or that music is the universal language - they weren't joking when it comes to Lara. So glad you found this beautiful lady with a heavenly voice. Once you hear Lara sing, you really won't want to hear any other version. I think it really should have been written for a woman as women put this kind of emotion across differently and more relatable. Sorry to say that as a woman I know that we are more in touch with and willing to talk about our emotions etc. I first heard her when I lived in France. She is now in Canada but she actually is Belgian. Her father is Flemish and her mother was Italian. Yes I am a big fan lol.

Not if you're in the zone like she was here. She taps into something whether it's using part of method acting which draws upon past experience and emotion or if it's something else but she mentally goes somewhere beyond just expressing memorized words. Yes, technically it is acting, but yet somehow she transcends it. Yeah, I am in the lane. 😊

That’s why I am so proud of the name of ky channel. It works on different levels. Because YES, 100 %, this is a marvelous example of very strong acting (in the proper use of the word, as in, skillful application of strong technique) and NO, that’s not acting at all when defined as “pretending” or “acting like…” etc. So yeah, you’re both correct, lol
