That solo at the end was always “the end” to me. Like you said, the journey to the afterlife, but also the sound of mourning when someone you love is gone. It encapsulates the tragedy of it all, in one beautiful solo accompanied by the drums and bass.

I feel the backing music is his soul/mind that leaves and travel away and the solo is his body fighting by survival instinct against what he's doing and the closer to death he comes the faster his soul/mind is going and the harder his body is fighting and the end it all fades away.

The late solo is so beautiful, self-explaining without speaking, how it has ups and downs(i can, i cant, i can, i cant, etc) and finally fading out with the intensity of the "ups", that mean what a people can feel in that sitations, in that particular case you feel the power to stay fading. Thats what i get for this solo. Dont forget they write that with only 19 years old, indescribable talent.

That you do pause and you do give a lengthy analysis and break down at the end of the songs. Is one of the reasons I dig your Channel. I watch pretty much all the reactors. And a lot of them just let the song play and don't comment on it at all and then sign out. That doesn't make me come back to their channels. We want to hear your opinion your emotions your analysis etc. If I wanted to just hear the song I would go just listen to the song.

I would love to see both reactions, especially with Metallica: first the studio version with lyrics, then the live version. Btw, your reactions belongs to my fav! You‘re open minded, kind, have an interesting music backgrund (with rap, jazz, hip hop) and give us your deep thoughts and opinions. Thanks for that. Can I get a special wish? Metallica The day that never comes. First read the lyrics, then do the official video (epic like a whole Blockbuster) and then... live! Metallica is part of my live, like a good friend, sometimes therapy to hear. Saw them live four times. Fade to Black served a lot of lifes. A friend of mine struggled with suicide and didn‘t domit because of this song! Greetings from Germany. Stay save 🍀🤘

as a metal guitarist, I enjoy seeing reactions from many people in this day and age. Back in the days when I played Metal music, most people thought of us as satanist without first listening to the music. Metal music is composed of Blues notes, classical notes and sometimes just freestyle playing with deep emotional lyrics that speak for itself, and a new heavy and fast note/chord progressions to tell a story most people deal with on a regular basis. Keep up with the great reactions. It makes me smile to see that, finally after over 30 years...people are realizing that Metal music is one of the best music genres in history. Cachai

I interpret the end solo as the time frame after a person jumped off a building and right before hitting the ground. I guess that's when memories start flashing in barrage like the solo on your way down before everything fades to black after that.

This song is about someone who's ready to end his life (or even is going throughout his, like, "final days"!!!) It was written right after almost full Metallica's gear was stolen, and James Hetfield was "sitting in silence" thinking almost about to end his life because of that (I think), but he didn't do it, and now they're one of the best bands of all time (and this is one of them best songs!!!) James wrote the acoustic parts, and the fast riff opening the second part!! Kirk Hammett wrote the heavy bridge after the first two verses, and Cliff Burton (Rest in Peace) wrote the harmonizing riff right before the final/very-energetic Kirk's guitar solo!!!

12:23 - Some people have actually asked before if I'm depressed or a violent person because I listened to heavy metal. I point out that me listening to this type of music is one of the reasons that I'm not violent or depressed. the following is from the songfacts website which I thought you may find interesting "Metallica wrote this after their equipment was stolen in early '84 and they had to start all over again. More specifically, James Hetfield wrote the lyrics in response to one of his amps being stolen."

You're correct about it being about suicide, but if you watch the Official video, it's clips from the beginning of Saving Private Ryan when they're storming the beach at Normandy. I imagine that the suicidal part of the song is for all of the poor soldiers that walked into the killing fields on that beach and were maimed or had limbs blown off and they wanted to die. Early in the video it's Private Ryan at the cemetery paying tribute to Tom Hanks character for saving him. Dave, watch this video. No need to do a reaction to it, but it's very, very cool nonetheless. Hope you watch it and enjoy it.

That is not the official video. In fact there is no official video for Fade to Black. The story behind this song as told by James Hetfield himself is that he was pretty depressed at the time because some of their gear had just been stolen, if I remember correctly his favourite guitar amp, first he ever owned, got stolen.
@noahbones1221
@noahbones1221 3 жыл бұрын
Ummm yeah no. metallica didn’t have a music video until 1988, with One. Fade to black was released in 1984. Fade to black is about the depression the band and more specifically James had when there gear got stolen, including a Marshall Amp his mom, who passed away, bought him.

Okay, thanks for the info guys, didn't know about that happening. But the video I'm talking about was on the EetFukExplorer KZbin channel (maybe the guy made his own video), and it was pretty good clips from the movie, made more recently, not in the 80's. Think about it, Saving Private Ryan wasn't out in the 80's, so obviously the video wasn't made until after the movie
