I remember their performance of this at Wembley Stadium in July 2007, just before the huge crowd bounce you could almost feel the air being sucked out of the stadium in preparation for a monster explosion! Excellent reaction fellas, still Stockholm Syndrome for me too though 😉 🤘

Great job with the channel so far guys! The song Knights of Cydonia is a tip-of-the-hat to George Bellamy, Matt Bellamy's father and guitarist for The Tornados. If you listen to the song Telstar (1962) you can definitely hear some complimentary sounds

Regarding what the song is about and his anti-authoritarian stance, Matthew Bellamy’s revolutionary bent comes from an early childhood trauma which was the death of his uncle at the hands of the IRA. So no he isn’t fighting for his life but that experience has influenced his songwriting ever since.

Finally KZbin did the right thing. So it's a draw 1-1 for Knights of Cydonia and Stockholm Syndrome 🤣. New born live from Wembley is a banger too. Cydonia is a place in Mars but also a place in Crete of Greece, not in Macedonia

Assassin at the Mayan in LA is another with checking out. Smaller venue (as one if you well knows) but no smaller sound and doms drumming is (as always) ace. On the general subject of live performances , not sure it fully counts as its a live recording from in a studio and not a gig, but Elbow - loneliness of a tower crane driver with the BBC Orchestra is very different of course from these but still very powerful and very, very good.

I have always preferred Stockholm Syndrome (it is my 2nd favorite Muse song with Sing for Absolution being my # 1) Also it is my favorite set closer, as you saw on the Glastonbury version, once the song finishes you just get bombarded with a medly of riffs (from bands Muse got inspired from as well as from Muse's own catalog) Best example I can give is Stockholm Syndrome Live at La Cigale. For context, fans were to decide whether Knights of Cydonia or Stockholm Syndrome would be the closer and at the beginning of this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmqThY1vosh7o9k you can hear Dom declaring Stockholm Syndrome the winner. I was watching a live stream and could have never imagined what would follow after the song ended they did not only play riffs but two whole songs!! Agitated and Yes Please! We were all floored witnessing such an incredible performance. Had Knights of Cydonia won I don't believe they would had done the same, it would had just been the standard finish, which is not bad but also not as hyped. In short, you never know what you will get after Stockholm Syndrome but you know you will get something, with Knights of Cydonia once the song is over the concert is over.
