FWIW, when I went to see David Gilmour in 2016, I thought that at 70 years old it would be the last time we saw him live, and yet here he is again 8 years later, and still talking about making more music when he's finished this tour. I just hope it doesn't take another 8 years! But if we're being realistic, the chances of another tour are increasingly slim. This song is undoubtedly the best one on the album, but I do really love Between Two Points too.
@renekarfinger8341Ай бұрын
If you compare the Voice 2016 to now, he got obviously older, sadly. Anyway i'll see him on friday in RAH;-)
@RushfanUK22 күн бұрын
He did say pre tour that he fully intends to produce more music once the tour is over, I saw him on the second night at the RAH last week and it was exceptional and highly emotive.

Dave and Polly nailed it again. Dave said once " I don't write music for sales but what I like and if you like it fine". He also said this album has been his best work since DSOTM.

I think so although it’s not as complete in terms of a body of work.

So happy to hear new Gilmour... First saw him in concert in 1989 in Cava Dei Tirreni, Italy (2nd row center... simply amazing) with the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour and frankly can't think of a better way to destress and be Zen than with a Gilmour guitar solo.

Yeah, definitely classic, I just love the sound of his guitar playing and his voice, always soothing to me. And yeah, I totally relate and yes, you're right, the greats always seem to create one last hoorah to their careers, before passing. That's what happened to my favourite Billy Thorpe, he didn't even get to finish recording Tangier, but what a great album, a masterpiece.

Great to see Dave up and about again. The song is very nice and relates a lot to us older Music Junkies. Great to see you guys going to see him at the Hollywood Bowl soon. You should sneak in a few of your own Phone videos of parts of it and show them to us some time. I'm sure Dave would not mind. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to seeing the Oasis Tour coming to Melbourne next year. Cheers!

I only got the album a week ago and have not stopped playing it, and this was a great choice of track to play. I haven't seen the video before, so thank you for that, beautiful. There's obviously no mistaking his voice when you hear it, but how many other guitarists can you identify the moment they start to play? How amazing that show will be, I'm very jealous, but I hope you have an incredible time, but please, no 'nonny nonny', I've no idea what it is, but I feel it should be avoided. ✌❤

Gilmore again shows it is all about the music he is just the connection between the music and the band working together. To me it’s like Duane Allman it’s not about him it’s the music regardless of the setting and music.

I wondered about the Blackstar parallel, too. Sting’s album The Last Ship is a great exploration of his looking ahead at death and mortality and regrets. It took me a a few listens to get past his Northerner accent, but realistically that was his upbringing - if truth be told his voice that we normally hear is probably the one that’s more ‘put on’.
@TheThamesmenАй бұрын
Good analogy. Blackstar. I hope not.

Hi guys, I'm new here. Don't know if you've ever reacted to Elbow? I've never seen any reactors do Elbow ... which breaks my heart a teeny bit. Scattered Black and Whites might be a grand start for such sweeties as you. I came here initially for your reaction to Noel Gallagher's Dead To The World ... I have an attachment to the Manchester music scene of old. This is how Elbow comes in. Thanks guys xxx

Being part of such a legendary band has to be blessing and curse at the same time when you going solo. From one perspective it gives exposure and instant fanbase which naturally bleeds over and on the other hand there is constant expectation of meeting quality and style of the origin band. In that sense I think Gilmour separated himself from PF work long time ago and I dont see the urgency of picking certain track as PF worthy or not. Of course there are elements that link it to musical aura of the band because Gilmour was most crucial factor from music point of view. Btw I want to highlight that album sounds unexpectedly fresh and coherent, Scattered is a classic
