Yes, that is Irene Jansen. I think the other 2 backing singers are Lisette van den Berg and Marcela Bovia. You got Mike Mills, and Tommy Karevic (Kamelot), the other guy is Blind Guardian's Hansi Kursch , and the woman is Maggy Luyten, and of course Floor. Troy wasn't there, although Marko was on a couple other songs. P.S. I've seen 'I concur' on several other channels. I crack up every time.

Arjen has worked with the likes of Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson (among others) on keyboards, that's a pretty solid prog-rock base. In fact, the guest list of musicians he worked with is pretty impressive. @@TheWyldesidewithEricClark Basically all of the instrumentalists Arjen ever uses are fellow Dutchmen. Probably cause the metal music scene is small and they all know each other. And it's easy for them to hop into a car and drive relatively small distances to come together and practice together. Also they can talk in their native tongue together. Netherlands is a small country. To give some perspective ... you can fit the entire country of The Netherlands 17 times in the state of Texas!!! saw a recent SM post of the Jansen sisters. Irene has lost weight, and they look even more alike. if you remember the school reunion show with their parents backstage. they look like their mom, and get their height from their dad. Arjen is The Man. props to him and Joost for putting these shows on. amazing job from everyone involved. from 2017, so months old baby Freya is probably chillin backstage. Queen of the Workaholics.

This concert is a best of containing songs from multiple albums and side project. the last song of the concert features both Floor and Irene Jansen . : The eye of Ra. ( based on the movie stargate ) The other live concert that came after The electric castle and other tales. well that is a full album with a special ancore of a few side projects . and features some older legends as well. Including Fish ( marillion ) , Thijs van Leer ( Focus) and many others. A concert you realy want to enjoy from start to finish .

Everyone talks about Toumas and Arjen. But you know what would be interesting? An Ayreon vs Avantasia double album. Back in like 2009 Arjen and Tobias (Avantasia & Edgu) were labelled as rivals. Which is untrue since both have guest on each other's albums. I KNEW you'd love this one! I was curious why you hadn't reacted to it sooner, but no matter. Your analysis was spot on as to the sound - definitely prog rock at its finest! One minor point though - you didn't mention Emerson, Lake, and Palmer in the "pantheon" of prog rock greats. I don't know about you, but that keyboard/synth sound and style to me definitely smacked of ELP, *especially* the Brain Salad Surgery album, and most particularly Karn Evil 9. When I heard this piece (theme particularly) my mind immediately went to KE9, especially the third impression.

(Let's call it the Dee Snider Irony vid), & Hopelessly Slipping Away (I can't put my finger on why but I get Grace Slick vibes from Cammie on this one). Also sometime you should check out Hansi & Blind Guardian @ Wacken 2016 The Bard's Song & Valhalla (Both songs in one vid about 13 min., crowd participation anyone) I don't think they care, but I believe the Dutch normally pronounce the e at the end of a name as an ah . So It is closer to Eye-rain-ah Jansen (Yawnsen) & Sea-moan-ah Simons.

I agree on the sound of the hammond, but it was even better live. On the dvd, it's a bit flat. In the venue you could really hear the deep roar of the hammond through the leslie. Sooo good. Especially on "And the Druids turned to Stone". Great reaction. Keep it up !

Love Marcela's voice. It is unfortunate that she doesn't always get to be front and center. Her solo works is just gorgeous and I loved her in Streams of Passion. Arjen Lucassen's work is solid, but when he decided to do this monster of a concert, it went through the roof. Live songs bring the best out of good musicians. Besides Floor, there is another female singer - Maggy Luyten with an amazing big rock voice.

It says something when singers like Marcella, Lisset ( sp) and Irene are just "background" or maybe it says something when your writing and main vocals REQUIRE that caliber of backing ? I remember one reacted saying "Wow this is a Super group, but not in a we are the world kind of way". I like that because it would be rather easy to totally waste the talent present ..... and this does not.
