Thank you very much for your words of appreciation. I'm glad that I opened a gate for you to this unique musical universe, in which I see that you move naturally. Today, for example, I noticed that you are much more into the topic than I am with this creative strand of Nightwish, so I learned from you. As far as I know, all your assumptions and observations were on point (including that they used the same key expression in "Noise" - "Color a yarn and the crowds will gather", and that Troy sang in Welsh at the beginning). I would recommend two recent interviews (2022) by Chaoszine, which seem important to me: the first one with Floor Jansen, from April 26 kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3TIlJxoZb2nb8U and the second one with Marco Hietala from 27 July kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHymnZ56ospqaJo I hope you will like it.

The entire Tampere concert is so special, from seeing Momma and Papa Jansen so proud and moved by how far their daughter has come, and how happy she is now, after all the ups and downs with her previous bands, to actually seeing the band perform with such an endless joy and energy, giving their all to the crowd, as they always do, plus, if I remember correctly, that day was Nightwish' 20th Anniversary, which made the even even more important and huge with all the fireworks on The Greatest Show on Earth, here in My Walden, I get Alice in Wonderland feeling, like you say, the "colors" as sort of auras, I don't really know how to explain it

Floor described her relationship with the band, calling it a happy family and these were her protective brothers. She mentioned the fact that they really respect her privacy and her need to not always be “one of the guys” because she is not. Empuu personifies the bands feeling for each other. The others do not outwardly display it as much. Tuomas being the most reserved. He shares emotions in his songs.

I just watched - Ever Dream - End of an Era DVD live. Nuclear Blast recorded the band's concert performance at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland on October 21,2005. This was the band's final concert from their long world tour for their fifth album Once. End of an Era is also the last Nightwish production to feature Tarja Turunen as the lead vocalist, after the concert both Tarja and the band parted ways. Most touching and heartbreaking was to look at Tarja and her happy face knowing that she did not know what would happen at the end of a show. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

Eric, you was completely correct about Tampere 2015 where the Rock Academy reunion talked about (FYI not only her parents were there but her sister Irene Jansen as well. She’s not a bad vocalist herself referring to her contributions as backing vocalist at Ayreon concerts, but not as profession). I think that besides the home crowd (Tampere is in Finland) the presence of her own family for Floor adds extra emotions to the already intense color of her performance. A new version or episode of LOTR with Marko and Floor would-be a moneymaker.

To Marko's metal voices: I completely agree! But he has a darker and angrier side! If you hadn't it in your 'Handy Dandy Notebook": The First song of that Tarja era ending: 'Master Passion Greed'. Marko at it's worriest and most furious side, blaming Tarjas husband (this song has and will be never played live; Listen and you know, why...!) . The second: 'Bye Bye Beautiful' with Annette on vocals, blaming Tarja herself. The third in the row you reacted so far: 'The poet and the pendulum', blaming Tuomas himself with all the possible consequences and Markos part in it. That's why he is such a great loss for the band (and for the Fans).

Again, I am impressed that you get what Tuomas is up to with his poetry and his music. He has the ability to communicate his experience of life and his understanding of the grandeur of nature as no one else really does. It is often the case that what Tuomas does sails right over the heads those who are here just for the headbang. Case in point: the second CD of the Human:||:Nature album. It is a ravishingly beautiful series of tone poems - almost entirely symphonic - the like of which you have never heard. Basically, it's Tuomas' love letter to nature.

The language sung by Troy at the beginning of the song IS Welsh !!!! 👌 Nightwish Noise (Color a yarn and the crowds will gather) and My Walden (Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher, higher Into the wild) ,.....Not Bad !!!! You know your Facts , my friend !!! Walden is a book by Henry David Thoreau, chronically the two years he lived by Walden Pond, seeking solitude and a oneness with nature by living simply and creating an environment that suited him and no one else. He interacted with others, selling beans he had grown, but did not integrate with their institutions. The line in the song “ I do not wish to evade the world, yet I will forever build my own,” captures that nicely, I think. So ,... there is actually nothing more to say , but ... Tuomas + Nightwish = everything NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

Yes, the documentary going back to Rock School, with her parents in the crowd, I think they were to our left, travelled over from the Netherlands. Troy covered in mist, can't see the audience, then starts off, in Welsh! Workington is in England... Gavin and Stacey! Floor rolling her "R", Marko bass double neck playing the guitar part and singing, Troy playing and singing. Kai getting his workout, Emppu clowning and then concentrating. I have watched the whole video now and I agree (concur 😁 ) with all you say. Others have already said that Troy is from Cumbria so I don't have to bother with that. It's quite common that Tuomas does little homages to music and other things that has inspired him, he is not shy of showing that. That's why you can hear the "Enter Sandman" riff in Greatest Show On Earth and see a backdrop picture of something else and things like that. You just have to have the ability to see and hear it. One thing about Tuomas and the others in the band is that they are always "Present in the music" if that makes sense. It happens sometimes when a band is out on a long Tour with many concerts that they get a little bored, they play the songs automaticly and the heart and soul is not really there. You _never_ see that with Nightwish and especially not with Tuomas, they are always there and "In" the music, nothing is done or played on routine. Keep an eye on that in your next NW video. Tampere is Emppu's hometown if I understand it right, so he was the Local Boy who played with Nightwish at that Concert. Looking forward to your next NW video. Cheers / B. Edit (had to look it up first to be sure): The Tour where the Wacken 2013 is in lasted for 572 days and they did 104 Concerts in 34 countries. I don't think a single one was done on routine.

(He's from the North West of England, about 150 miles away from Wales, 20 miles from Scotland, 120 miles from Eire. The UK is tiny, it would easily fit in most of your States.) Well spotted, Gavin and Stacey! The Tampere concert was close to the longest day, that far North, the Sun may not completely set.

I've got a lot more to say and I'm going to make a longer comment, but you were asking if there were some similar references in "Noise" to the reverence to colorful yarns weaving the fabric of music. Yes, you were correct. Noise has a line, "Color a yarn and the crowds will gather, " right before the chorus goes on, "Noise. From the sunless world. Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back at a slave of brave new world." So, there's the reference to coloring a yarn and then going on to mention a black mirror. Thank you for the great video.

Thanks for this one. yeah this one resonates with the crowd when it happens live :-). check out the Wembley version for more camera action on the crowd. Especially when they play it directly after Elan. Which is a song about the vital driving force of live, about people not forgetting to actually live when you get taken up in all the drudgery, obligations and pressure ot the day to day. Those three elan, my walden en alpenglow in a row actually create another layer on top of the layered music. The way Tuomas uses a setlist for a show is in fact another layer. You caught the essence of this one perfectly, at least you evoked the same feeling i get when i hear it. As a kid i was forever daydreaming, making up my own world. And that line: "i do not wish to evade the world, but i'll forever build my own" hit me like a sledgehammer, the first time i heard it. This "he gets me, a kindred spirit" moment... powerfull stuff. Yes Floor's parents were there, they had never seen her perform live with Nightwish, so it was quite emotional for them and for Floor as well. The harmonies are just great. You're right that Marko oozes metal, and you haven't even heard his best vocals yet. Master Passion Greed, pure rage from everyone wrought into an awesome piece of music. Eric.....you made me think about this song so much, I had to go back and listen to the song again, and follow along with the lyrics in another screen to get what you are talking about! I know this song is on my Spotify list, but, I never listened to it in the context of your insight! Thank you Eric...I always look forward to your posts!

When Marko wrote his resignation letter from Nightwish, he used the words, it's my time to look for "My Walden". Even when he broke up, he used the words of a Nightwish song. He must have understood that we understood better then what he wants from his life... Gabriel gave a link to Marko's interview. That interview is really good, informative. It's worth watching.

Floors parents, sister her husband and I think her mother in law was at Floors first concert in Helsinki 2012. This album, Floors first for Nightwish is in my opinion the album with the most beautiful songs, maybe not the best but with the most beautiful melodies, sung by Floor....amazing album.

Have you heard of Emppu's another band back in the day, Brother Firetribe. Their song Heart full of fire (and the version featuring Anette Olzon live at Apollo) is worth a watch imo 👌🏽

About what you said of Marcos ornamentations and that he didn't do that here or in the previous track, and how that is a good thing; I remember a dance teacher talking about styling in dance, and he said: if you do it all the time, it's not styling, it's a bad habit. Equally true in singing.

I’m not trying to dog anyone….. but as a Canadian, Walden’s Pond is a fairly cute discussion of what life would be Iike, living off the land - I have read it. I do admire Thoreau, and his edicts that civil disobedience in the face of oppression is an obligation, not an option. But on Walden’s, he was within a city limit, or a village, a short walk from civilization - never in danger of the life lived in remote communities in northern Canada or Alaska. I have done 5 day hikes that were more remote than his entire time on Walden. Wade Davis, Canadian anthropologist and ethnobotanist who has lived with South American tribes, and wrote the book (and then a movie) The Serpent and the Rainbow about his doctoral thesis and zombies culture in Haiti has a good time poking fun at Thoreau’s great American outdoor adventure….. like I said, I like Thoreau and his premises, but he was not in “the wild”…..

Hi Eric, you'll find Tuomas ofter reuses lines and in fact also phrases of music. Yes, Welsh language but from an Englishman. Your interpretation of My Walden being my own paradise built in the countryside is how I interpret this too.

Many of us called this song Celtic or Folk Metal. You are right about this track that it is metal. Troy is from Workington Cumberland England and not Irish. The spoken words in the beginning of the song was Welsh, but you are already know from somebody in the comments
