REACTION: Oregon derails the Colorado hype train for Deion Sanders | Oregon Ducks Podcast

The Ducks came in as the higher ranked team on Saturday, but the chatter was all about Colorado and Deion Sanders. The Ducks responded by dominating in all 3 phases against the Buffs.
On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin reacts to Oregon's much hyped game against Colorado. Dan Lanning rolled the dice and came up with a snake eyes on special teams in the first half, and the floodgates opened from there.
The win was particularly satisfying for many Oregon fans given the excessive media coverage of Coach Prime and his team. The Ducks made it about themselves and how well they played as they improved to 4-0 in style.

As a Utah fan... Oregon just proved that they are even scarier than I thought preseason. Oregon always has a good offense but that D looked legit. Utah looks like they have a fresman QB who has never been asked to hand the ball to a RB(because they do). USC and Washington haven't really had a meaningful test. Oregon is starting to look like a 2 headed monster. That's as scary as it gets in cfb. That's playoff caliber. Very few cfb teams do both well let alone great. The Ducks play like that instead of like at TT and it will be tough for anybody to beat them.

I think the problem I had with the ESPN and fox sports take shows in the media was , they said all this stuff during the week that basically made Oregon look like outside character and basically said Colorado was going to win. Then when colorado was getting utterly dominated, and people were calling the media out on the bias and BS because it was obvious then people from the media started saying that people were being racist and hating on Coach prime for being too confident, and that’s what makes them insecure, because establishment is afraid of coach prime. It just made me so mad because no, we’re not mad about that. We are mad you won’t give Oregon any respect and Oregon doesn’t usually get respect anyways and here comes some team that’s done nothing getting way more respect.

Very few surprises. Played the odds more often than not. Perhaps that’s what has to happen with so many players unfamiliar with each other. And he’ll need someone who can recruit kids for the trenches. Summary: I can think of worse hype trains.

I think the biggest take away from this game is that Lanning got this team to focus and play with an intensity that is required to win championships. Not something I have seen from Lanning Duck team in the past. This intensity needs to be demanded every week. Chaos, havoc, violent intentions every play for 60 min. Now the Ducks know how to do this. Incredibly valuable lesson that can be duplicated weekly.

Travis Hunter would have made a difference. But, it certainly wouldn't have been a 36 point difference. Favorite play was the fake punt. Casey Rogers is now in my personal Duck Hall of Fame. Looked a lot like Michael Clay on his fake punt against the beavers in 2010. To me, Colorado is going to be a power in the Big 12. But, not this year in the Pac 12. What he's building will be amazing in a couple of years. Actually, what he had done so far at Colorado is amazing when you look at what they were last year and most any year that they've had in the Pac 12.

In your small mind, think of it this way: Lanning was handed a Lamborghini - Deion Sanders took on a Pinot by choice and converted it to a Pontiac GTO in months, as best he could. The GTO rarely will beat a Lamborghini off the line if ever. Especially without major tweaks and up grades. Nobody will be talking about the ducks next week or next month but they will definitely be talking about the buffs. It is what it is all eyes are on the buffs program. You have to be a damn fool to think they were gonna go from 1-11 last year to undefeated this year especially when prime knows he is still building a team. There are certain people that can’t handle his confidence. Now the haters want to see him lose and smear it in his face. They only want to beat Prime. What they fell to realize is that mindset means they have made him the standard. The measuring stick of greatness. The buffs know they have deficiencies but they have to work with what they have until something better comes along. As Prime said get him now and what Prime also knows is that Oregon will lose some of their players to him. He will continue to flip 4 & 5 star recruits. I believe he’s already flipped 2 since Saturday. Once he get the proper pieces it will be a bunch of closed mouths and hating hearts and less laughter. Prime has already won in life and he’s very well decorated. He is nothing but a winner. Every week there will be viewership because of the buffs. So they should be thanking Prime and the Prime effect for the little exposure they are getting because honestly these teams are catching CU’s crumbs right now.

This is the defense that I have been waiting for. It was as perfect a showing that could be possible. Jamal HIll and Bassa play well together. Kyrie was all world. Entire D line brought it. If I want to pick at it, there could have been a couple of INTs for Oregon. Evan Williams has the wow factor. I'd like to see Manning get it together. "I believe" that Oregon is hitting on all cylinders. EXCEPT recruiting. This beatdown was needed to show the recruits what is being built here in Eugene. I'm a CU fan and I was annoyed how the conversation quickly began turning from fans being confident in their own game, to having to start putting down competition like Oregon, as if Oregon isn't about as Dominant as any of the best football teams in the USA As a competitor myself, I'm Glad Lanning had the moxie to REALLY take it to the Buffs and show them there are levels to this College game, and if you want to go against the best of the best he is happy to Oblige that request Buffs will be fine, this is more a check on the fans than it is on Coach Prime in my opinion.
