Fun fact: Metal Sonic's lyrics, "By the end, I will show you all who the devil is." This is referring to Mephilles. Then with Mephiles verse, "The answer is Mephiles, by the end I will ask the question is..." Then at the end, "who will leave you sonic06?" This is like a time loop. Because at the beginning Mephiles says, "the answer is Mephiles." Then with Metal Sonic's last verse and Mephiles's first verse, it also fits well lol This was explained by one of the rappers and I thought it was really intriguing

Aside from Jim Carrey, Eggman to me has always been as threatening as he is entertaining. Like there’s definitely a difference between SA2 where he straight up had a gun (hence the gun bars) and something like Colors, but that’s honestly why I love him as a character and ESPECIALLY why Mike Pollock is one of my favorite VAs ever, that the more ‘lighthearted’ he becomes the more you should probably be wary of him, cause if you look at something like Unleashed and Colors where he’s at his most comical, those are also games where at the very start he’s practically won. In Unleashed he even uses that side of him to bait Sonic. Eggman always ends up showing exactly how he’s still that same guy in SA1 who was utterly terrifying, and the archie comics if anything nail that _tenfold._ I’d definitely give Zach’s best villain bars to his N performance in the pkmn cypher, but that’s explicitly because he ISNT as menacing as he is here and thus better portrays the nuanced “more anti-hero than villain” aspect of the character. Here’s a rundown of Mephiles! I’ve explained these amazing bars so many times i have a copypaste lol Mephiles is the villain of (the very bad) Sonic 06 and Mat packed a TON of fantastic references into a character most people probably wouldn’t have taken so seriously. He’s from the future and is basically in a Cell situation where he’s made incomplete so he goes back in time to absorb his other half, which is where “for centuries I've been on the ledge of an experiment” comes from with how he was sealed away in 2 parts. “In the shadow of shadows, I'm underground” is how Mephiles starts out as this being made of pure darkness but possesses Shadow’s shadow for a body which is why he looks a lot like him. “Rapper, the master, spitting flames of disaster” is a reference to his other half Iblis, basically a lava kaiju known as The Flames of Disaster. Mephiles also uses telepathy and so he _literally_ doesn’t “even need to open my mouth” (as well as a cheeky shot at 06’s animation). The aforementioned Iblis is the body of the world-ending sun god Solaris and Mephiles its soul which is what “You've got a one-way ticket to oblivion, Feel the burning sun rays, this kid invented them” is about. And the last line about 06’d is a triple play. There’s the obvious 0-6/six feet under meaning but in the game Mephiles actually DOES succeed in killing sonic before he abducts Elise, and Sonic has to be brought back to life (“Kill the King, steal the heart of his princess”) AND Sonic 06 was a game so bad it was decried as the death of the franchise at the time. Lastly is one bit of pure wordplay I HAVE to mention: “Came back from future to tell you the answer’s Mephiles” isn’t just a reference to time travel, it’s not just a loop from the question “who’s gonna leave you Sonic 06’d” but it’s *also* a response to the last line of Zach’s verse, as the name Mephiles is derived from the devil Mephistopheles.

Mephilies is the villain of Sonic 06 and the only villain to successfully kill Sonic, plus Mephilies is 1 half of a God that manipulates time, his true form is Solaris the God of time

I enjoyed this cypher because, unlike what they do normally, the best verses were at the start, so even though the rest were weaker, I actually was in a good mood and listened through them all. Normally, with it the other way around, I'm skipping through wack shit mildly annoyed until I get to something good.
