I appreciate how messy and real the depiction of Rose and Greg's relationship was, as well as Pearl's jealousy. I think it's quite a brave choice to allow the "good guys" to be flawed in such relatable ways. They aren't perfect, nor are they given these Shakespearean, tragic flaws. They're flawed in the way everyday people are. Rose obviously has affection for Greg but she's oblivious to his feelings of being disrespected until he confronts her about it. Rose's inability to see this shows she doesn't truly understand Greg. But she wants to. They just needed to figure out a better way to communicate, like talking directly about it. A lesson many real people could take to heart as well. SU's characters are some of the most three-dimensional and real of any that I've seen on TV.

Sadly a lot of the fandom missed this and just demonized Rose, saying she never cared and was manipulative -__-

It’s not directly answered in the show Rebecca talked about it in an interview. Rose Shape-shifted a reproductive system and womb to carry out the pregnancy for Steven

This. She apparently read a whole bunch of medical books to understand how human reproduction works, shapeshifted a reproduction system, and started eating to "feed" the baby. Steven is literally half and half.

I see someone already explained how Rose got pregnant, so in regards to how Steven's biology works, he's essentially a full human, but Rose's gem is rooted in his body and responds to him accordingly. His body can essentially call light/energy out of the Gem into his own body, which is how he can do things like change his age and make cat fingers and fuse. That's a liiiiiiiiittle different than how Rebecca Sugar broke it down, but it's pretty close, and honestly I think it covers all the bases for what we see in the show. Lapis shouting "Just let me do this for you!" while clearly in pain parallels Pearl saying "Why won't you just let me do this for you, Rose?!" just a few episodes ago. The relationships aren't a 1:1 parallel, not even close, but they're similar in that Lapis is putting an unhealthy degree of importance on Steven, to the point where she's disregarding her own well-being, and it's genuinely heartbreaking. "We're Malachite now" is a sentence which will echo across Lapis' arc in both directions. There's a KZbinr named Princess Rizu who has made some beautiful original songs for Steven Universe, and she made one about this episode and Malachite called 'Unstable' that I think really captures the dynamic wonderfully.

"I'm not a real person...is this not how it works?" That's heartbreaking, to hear how Rose really didn't understand humanity and love until Greg. And she's been mistreated too.

5:44 many art, history, and philosophy majors don’t make much money with their major. The joke is that Greg (who dropped out of community college) likes music and heard of them but they were never successful enough to go big. Greg: you’ve never heard of this obscure band?

We don't know exactly how Rose did what she did - we know she created a reproductive system and that steven has a physical, organic body, though. And in Watermelon Steven we learned she has the ability to animate organic life, and her healing ability can heal organic life as well as gem life, so maybe her powers were the right stuff to help her pull it off?

Pearl was Rose's immortal "wife" for 6000+ years, I can totally understand her trepidation at implications of Rose's love affair with Greg.

This is not a spoiler but its mainly theory fans have about Steven’s aging. Because of the Too Many Birthdays episode people speculate that steven can learn to control his aging and live forever like the gems

5:07 The two halves of Garnet's psyche (as Ruby and Sapphire) sharing their take on these shard experiments are heartbreaking to me. They both see things from completely different perspectives, both of which are needed for Garnet to be a good leader: the passionate, tactical part that figures out where missing friends and fallen, fellow soldiers disappeared to; and the emotional, sensitive, and wise part that knows it wasn't the Crystal Gems' or Garnet's fault that they didn't know about it. On top of that, both Ruby and Sapphire were deeply disturbed that Gems who didn't get a say in their fusion were broken into pieces and forced into it irreversibly. That's like creating a Frankenstein's monster out of still-living people who may or may not know each other, and each fragment has bits and pieces of the memory of who they used to be as a whole. It's terrifying and messed-up, to say the least!

An idea to consider... after you've finished the series (but while it's all still fresh in your mind), would you go back to watch it all again? I still see new things after many, many viewings. Many of the questions you've raised so far in the series get answered, so watching while knowing those things can put a different twist on things. That has helped me appreciate the one-off early episodes a lot more. So now I'm wondering how you'd both react on a 2nd run.

00:00 oo is it time To Talk CHILLUH TEEED :) Wait, why _can't_ you grab tissues between the title and the episode, or when you first mentioned it? 3:27 ohh yes "are the other ones with you" heh 6:18 looking straight into his eyes lol And I always wonder how Rose didn't feel that "in your face" vibe in Rainbow Quartz Like a section of her face looks like it's gloating "Adorable" aa reminds me of that serious look Greg got during one of those verses like _I'm really wondering. I'm really asking what I can do for you, smth that no one else can do", and it starts when Rose calls him "entertaining" (then play) 7:32 this hecking shot of her And Greg's nervous 10:30 Chille Tid pronunciation 11:50 Greg, _and_ Food?? Oof 14:29 but in so many birthdays, Pearl's unsure Lol they really have a problem Like they won't understand, but I recently had this thought like...they won't know much about birthdays or [some other example], but Amethyst knew what an internship was

My theory is that Rose emulated\shapeshifted a reproductive system just like human's one, knowing that gem's physical form are solid and they do make fluids like tears so it's totally possible for her to make an uterus with steven's umbilical connected to her gem, further more we know that steven was "made" connected to her gem so he needed it to live, that's why she gave up her form
