I wished people who discover his music spoke French, because that's another layer people are missing. Even simple more filler songs like moules frites if you look at the lyrics you'd think it's about food, but it's one big slang metaphore about having unprotected sex. Here he sings: Tu étais formidable, j'étais fort minable and most non french speakers think he sings formidable twice, the strenghth of the lyric gets a bit lost in translation. I think Racine Carrée is one of the best pop albums of the last decade, there's a full concert of that album on youtube.

In the small city of Etterbeek, 48,000 inhabitants in Belgium, many famous writers, artists, soccer players were born. But 2 names resonate eapecially in your channel: Lara Fabian and Stromae 😀

Possibly my favorite of his songs. I can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. You feel the pain of this man at the end, when he yells. It just punches you in the guts. You can't help but feel empathy for him and his pain. Stromae's performances of this songs are mostly the same each time, but not quite: he plays the drunkenness and the pain a little differently every time. I can see the actor in him. The ability to slip on someone else's skin. He's the rightful heir to Jacques Brel, no doubt. Very different from Brel, but in the essence of the writing, the storytelling and the impersonation of the character, they are of the same ilk. A priviledge to watch. Glad you're enjoying the journey. I also discovered Stromae very recently (I saw l'Enfer, the live version, and still haven't recovered!). I knew of him but never had checked him out (I live in the States, so a bit removed from my native France/Europe). I don't have many regrets, but that is definitely one of them. I feel richer for having discovered him and his universe. It's beautiful to see a true artist at his peak.

Stro-mae is the inversion of mae-stro 😀 King of upbeat rythm with sad and deep lyrics. Also specialist of french word games, amazing happenings and concepts. And total artist: he manages everything music, choreography, videos, dresses, … In fact, his second album was 8/9 years ago and then he had some depression issues, side effect of medication he used against malaria. It took him several years to recover and he just released his new album with the new songs popping up : Santé, l’Enfer, Fils de joie, …

Very smart 😊 Yes i understood that he went through some depression issues, if you get deep down in that hole it often takes a while to get up again. It seems to have worked out for him 💕

You need to know that this video was made with hidden camera's. People were wondered and amazed to see a drunk Stromae in the streets. It appeared even in the newspapers. A couple of weeks later the official song and video was released, and people could see it was all one big act!!! At the end of the video, it says it was filmed with hidden camera's. Greeting from Belgium.

Please react to his previous live show (Racine Carrée in Montreal). It’s on youtube entirely. By far the best live show I have ever seen. You’ll definitely want to watch him live after seeing that.

I totally share what you said, this song is also my favorite one from him, I love everything in that song... The video, the music, but mostly the lyrics, so real and aware on human beings ... Stomaë is a big artist for me, a French speaking beautiful French in his songs... It's just simple, he's a big artist, actor and it's so "formidable" to see him acting... I love your reactions and I follow you... Love from France 🇫🇷😘

I love your sensibility, insight. I was really reluctant to comment, as always, but you changed that because you are so observant. Have seen all your Stromae reactions, and they are spot on. Keep up the fantastic work! Cheers from Slovenia!
