Excuseme, Sir. The staging was ment to be Filmed from below, with shots following the lines of action. The thing is that the Camera work destroyed the concept and made it look like a mess. Is the same thing as what happens with the focal point in the solar System. If you put the Center in the Earth, the Planets of the solar systen would have really weird orbits, but setting it in the Sun makes them very neat and easy to understand.

La canción tiene gancho evocando una especie de folklore gallego, y la puesta en escena tiene potencial. Teniendo en cuenta que TVE anda un poco floja en ese aspecto y que tienen 4 meses para mejorarla con un equipo profesional, creo que es la mejor con diferencia.

Spanish Tanxugueiras fans don't expect Terra to be liked by someone who doesn't understand what It symbolizes. Terra is the representation that Spain is multicultural, that Spain is Galicia, Asturias, País Vasco, Andalucía, Cataluña and the other autonomous communities. The performance os inspired by the tradicional dances of the diferent regions of Spain, as is the costumes.We are deeply proud of Tanxugueiras and their song for that It means, and because it represent us. The repetitive and short letter has a reason. The song is based on the traditional songs of Galicia, which are like that, repetitive and often unconnected, to seek that necessary hypnotism in ritual dances. Their vocals were some of the strongest of the night for me, though I thought their staging was a little messy and needs some refining. That might help the camera guys find some better shots too. But even then, I was beyond surprised the juries placed this fifth. It will be very interesting to see how it does in the final against the songs from semi 2.

The dancers are dancing “muiñeira”,but the singers are singing a traditional “pandereteira song”. The singing of the pandereteiras is actually a lot mor complex and nuanced than what they are doing,probably because otherwise the folky tone with be excessive. The pandereteiras have always sounded exotic to me,being Galician,because they have a kind of mystic derviche - like spirit.

Im spanish, Galician in fact, so I watch the reaction of the audience and they were mad, jeering to the jury I was pissed because even in Portugal cheers us up with this group and Salvador Sobral showed it in the festival. From what we know about the RTVE we are thinking that is everything already spoken with the jury to create the drama and the sppectation so they will do that festival more times. I hope they will win and if that happens the vast majority will be extremely happy

@@ShanesEurovisionReview We the spanish have been robbed by just 5 people, the jury. It's been an outrage. One member of the jury has worked several times with the winner (Chanel -really Chanel? for God sake-) at least in the last 8 years. This show was prepared. I voted for both Rigo and Tanxugueiras before I knew everything was arranged. To vote you had to call to a paying number (2€) or send an sms (1,45€), so basically those five people decided the winner and our money was just stolen. I'm so fucking angry that I can't even sleep... and I'm not even an eurofan. But it was like for the first time we felt like we were part of the process, we were part of something we feel very very far like Eurovision (I know there are spanish eurofans, but in Spain we don't care about the contest in general because we always do shit).This year we had the option to chose between two true anthems, one representing feminism, the other one representing true spanish culture. It was in our hands, we really felt it. No more ridiculous, no more songs that we don't care about... but they stole even that from us. Chanel, an amazing dancer, won just because the song was composed by important people form the american music industry = lot of money. Rigo and Tanxungueiras composed their own songs, so the industry wasn't going to see a dime from them. Definitely, they took the hope from us along as the money. Fuck Benidorm Fest, fuck Eurovision. I wonder who is gonna watch that fest next year.

The dance is traditional dance but the skirt is a modern version of the ones women use when doing that dance. The whole theme of the performance was mixing modern and traditional (just like the song does) but the producers messed up. There's a time the three of them get together in the middle and look as if they were doing witchcraft but the camera was miles away from them so it isn't that noticeable!! (Witchcraft and witches are another pilar of Galicia's culture)

Hi ^^ the song might sound a bit repetitive due to its folkloric nature. "Ailaralala" is a traditional Galician "tune" that is often repeated over and over again. The video clip is impressive and I think I'm not mistaken that it's their best song to date. Song they published 6 months ago. A visual gem worth seeing. I agree with you. If I had a little more strength at the end of the song it would already be unbeatable. The dancers are dancing the muiñeira, the most traditional dance in Galicia. Everything is authentical and traditional, and they know how to give it that point of modernity so that you don’t even know that all that is on stage is really centuries of history, of our history. This is much, much better live, but still can't see it connecting with enough people at Eurovision. One interesting point about the voting system being used, it is what was used to choose Mahmood from San Remo. He also didn't win the public vote and we know how well that turned out for Italy. They got over the initial backlash quite quickly.

A classic case where a favourite fails to live up to the expectations you have created in your head. I do really like this song, and vocally they were great. But the staging was just really disappointing for me, far too many wide/long shots and the dancers just didn't work for me. If I am being honest, I think I would have preferred them to just be on the stage standing in front of a microphone stand 🤣. If this was to win the staging would need to be changed in my opinion, because this wouldn't do well with the international public/jurors. It's interesting you mentioned about pyro, because I feel that used in the right places would really be effective. But no one used pyro last night (that I can remember), so I am assuming it wasn't an option to use it. So hopefully if chosen at least some pyro can be utilised in Turin.

Haha I think people who loved the song were disappointed with the staging. For me who wasn't exactly a lover of the song I enjoyed the performance! I do get it...when you are so passionately behind a song you want it to be AMAZING and you are looking at it as the winner of Benidorm Fest and as such you will be over critical. I was just looking at it as a song that was 'nice' that I liked more performed live....I had no emotions attached to this song...and as such not expectations...so was difficult for me to be disappointed :-) Haha I quite liked the dancers but again it seems people who LOVE the song did not think they gelled with the song.

Another interesting fact is France had their Celtic language of Breton as a Eurovision song in the 90s. So perhaps rather than be mean spirited Maria it might be beneficial for you to read some history, realise that the Celtic nations share common historical traits, exist in other places & these people relate to each other’s culture in a pan Celtic manner. Also I abhor ‘toros’ bullfighting - I find it inexcusable, the same way I find the Spanish States treatment of minority languages in Spain. Possibly a bit old fashioned but I say well done to them for incorporating it into the piece. They clearly want to have all parts of their culture represented in the performance which is really admiral. Wonder how’ll they get on in the final now……

As far as I know, song structure has been taken from Galician tradicional music ("muñeiras"), so I think that's why they didn't want to change it. Both Tanxugueiras and the song are great, but fan expectations were too high (fire in the stage, witchcraft kind of things and lots of crazy stuff). They won public voting, though, and have the strongest support here in Spain. I know jury voting placed them fifth, but just one point under third and fourth placed contestants (if I'm not mistaken), and I can relate to that feeling as Chanel and Blanca Paloma really did such wonderful performances and Tanxugueiras' was just ok. I don't really get all the noise fans are making regarding the jury.

I honestly think the main reason was, at least i feet that way, is that they came 5th after Azucar Moreno. Azucar moreno wasn't as strong in vocals or performance, or even the song.... I liked blanca paloma, it was beautiful, and Chanel did a great performance. Varry brava was ok for me. But tanxugueiras did deserve a higher place than 5th.

Yeah I was stupid when I looked at the jury result...I did not see at first how close the points were. yEAH i FELT SORRY FOR Tanxugueiras as there was so much expectation on them and that song so anything less than perfect people would have been disappointed....so I guess that's why Chanel and Blanca were talking points as they kind of came from. nowhere and no one really had any particular expectations (generally). It's never easy being a front runner.

Here in Spain, they are theories that the organisation/jury doesn't want them to go with a song in Galician, that they would bever allowed that because you know it "doesn't represent them". But we've sent songs on English before and that didn't represent us either so... double standard? Maybe, Politics? absolutely. Other theory is that they agreed on knowing they're the favourites to "compensate" the punctuation. But that didn't happen with Rigoberta (that was nice performance too) I don't know what to believe. The camera work is a disaster, no closeups of the singers but random close ups of the drummer and dancers all the time. One of the girls goes to the back of the stage at some point for no apparent reason. We have absolutly no idea what's going on on the large screens. There is no focus on anything happening on the stage. The girls had a very cool make up that we barely get to see. I don't see any progression in the performance, a bit of a mess.

The performance was messy, need to tighten up. Yes its repetative and for me it goes a bit boring. Men dancing in skirts is a plus - but they should not lump together with the singers as they did in parts of the performance.

Great reaction!! I do agree that the staging falls a bit flat in terms of epicness after the bridge, if they brought it to the next level and added some fire or pyrotechny shooting up from the stage... that would be the cherry on top. And yes, camera angles were a bit off especially for them... There are rumours about the TV station doing it on purpose, which I wouldn't be surprised by... knowing that the jury didn't want them on the final judging and that it's not the first time a song that is not in Spanish get sabotaged its way out of the competition. We will see what happens tonight, but I would really like to see this going to Eurovision. As someone who belongs to this culture, it makes me tear up just watching it be represented on Benidorm Fest. I'm so proud of them!
