I'm so glad to see more TesseracT! This was another great one. There is something about this band that really amazes me. I think I said before, that I generally don't like growls. This band fits them in so that they matter, mean something and add to the music. Great analysis, too Bill. I loved the drum cam. I don't know why buy I always enjoy seeing what the drummer is doing. They're so often hidden behind the rest of the band.

One thing I like is that the music is "airy and clean", meaning you can easily follow the drums separately when listening, or just follow along with the bass. The instruments never blend together into an audible mess, so to speak. Same with the vocals.

Thank you, my friend! I feel the same way about them and I agree about the vocals- Dan gives us a lot to work with- incredibly dynamic and always interesting. I've always enjoyed watching drummers since I was a wee lad. I suppose it's how all four limbs are in motion creating something magical.

Jay likes the second Auxiliary hi hat because he likes to keep tempo on the main hat with his foot, he has 3 crashes, 1 ride, 2 hi hats (right hat is not controlled) 1 China, 1 splash and 1 stack consisting of a trash crash and a trash China :)

Thanks for that clarification, my friend. I didn't think the right Hi hat was controlled. Love the trash sound! I've seen a lot of drummers use those these days which is understandable cause they sound so damn good! 🤘❤️🤘

The singer Dan Tompkins is actually one of the designers for the game, he taught himself the computer programs needed to work on the environments and characters of the game. He has had a couple of live streams of him working on the game. Takes so much time.. oh the patience you must have... Amos, the bass player, is also doing artwork for the game and their albums, and he plays a major role in creating the main story of both the game and the album. The Strangeland universe. He's lived in Hong Kong for many years, hence the slightly Asian themed art work.

Wow! that's amazing! Their talent knows no bounds. I can only imagine the process of creating something like this. As a kid I had a Tandy TRS 80 computer and a book of code to create 'games' Even a simple game took weeks with very little payoff (no graphics, just text with Yes or No answers) and you had to save it to a cassette!! There weren't even floppy disks at the time! I think what they are doing is so unique and so timely, too. Music is no longer the go-to for kids anymore now it's video games. TesseracT is on the cutting edge bridging the gap! Thank you for the info, my dear friend! ❤️

I really like how you pick up on details in the music composition that I hadn't thought about. I think the notes you refer to as "keyboard" are actually the lead guitarist with effects on his guitar. It's kind of his signature atmospheric sound, it can be heard in many Tesseract songs. 🤩 Musically, I love the speed and pacing of this song. The guitars are FUN! The groove is fantastic! Yes, that is the maze you can see in the game, the maze of your own mind (also visible in the video for the song War of Being), the truth buried deep inside. To get to the truth, the real self, you need to battle all the legions (your fears) that hides inside the maze. We all know it's easier said than done...

Yeah, I can see those notes being a guitar track- very atmospheric! Maze=mind- BRILLIANT concept! I would love to see these guys hook up with Revnoir- musically and conceptually they have a commonality. Ah! one can only hope! 🙏

As for the lyrics: The grey - I interpret this as being the grey blur we all get stuck in sometimes, when we run on autopilot, when we sink into depression or feel numb. "living life in monochrome" , he sings. Everything is the same color, no nuances. "Drowning in the undertow". Wallowing in "constant tragedy". Just wanting "instant gratification" (whatever that might be...) to feel something for a little while, and living in this pattern will quickly spin things out of control... the guitar and the bass feel like they are spinning out of control in the song... 😁 I love the ending of the song, like giving a strict order to yourself "settle down and start your war!!" The war with yourself, to get out of The Grey... The red and purple child-like figure in the thumbnail is a part of the game, kind of like your inner child.

I can see the allegory there- the grey, the monochrome- that depression that can overtake you and leaves you numb and despondent. I wonder if this is a modern phenomenon? Did our ancient ancestors ever feel this 'grey'? Probably too busy trying to survive and not get eaten by sabretooth tigers!
