REACTION TO "All The Lovers In The World (天下有情人)" & "Thousands of Songs (千千闕歌)" From Zhou Shen

So we'll be listening to Zhou Shen sing two songs today. The first one is actually a duet with someone by the name of Li Keqin? And the second one is a solo performance where Zhou Shen sings in three different languages. Both were obviously amazing but I think the second one stuck out to me more. Maybe it was because the song sounded really familiar to me or maybe it evoked more memories and emotions, idk. As always, Charlie's voice was just so gentle and beautifulll.

@YellowBerrio, sure that male singer in the MV is Zhou Hua-Jian, the female singer is Ms Qi Yu. They did the original song in 1995 and the MV released in 2011 was the 3rd version by these two famous singers in 3 different albums. There are many cover versions around by other singers as well. Zhou Shen & Hacken Lee's version is probably the latest one and the most famous one now. Don't forget this one is from a live stage performance.

By the way, Ms Qi Yu in the MV is the original singer of "欢颜" (Huan Yan, smiling face) which is the song covered by Zhou Shen on his TV debut in 2014.

The other singer is called Hacken Lee, a very famous singer in Hong Kong. He and Zhou Shen has sing alot of nice songs together, they participating in the singing competition , which every participating team will be formed by one senior singer and one young singer. The official title "People in Love" is the best translation for this song, it is much much better than the Google's translation ("All of Lovers in the World") that is based on word-by-word translation technique. The second song is a cover version of a Japanese song:夕焼けの歌- the Song of Sunset. There are many cover versions, in which the Cantonese version《千千阙歌》-"Thousands of Songs" by 陈慧娴, Priscilla Chan Wai Han, (released in 1989) is the most famous one. The title of 千千阙歌 is a mixture of Japanese and ancient Chinese while 阙 means "a piece/unit of" (song). The direct translation of the title would be "many songs". The Cantonese/Chinese version of this song has totally different lyrics with the Japanese original song although the melody has been kept.

Huh, someone had actually shared with me a link for this same exact performance, by these two artists but they were singing in Mandarin. Lol I didn't know they also sang it in Canto. But I only understand basic, simple Cantonese words. Such things as lyrics to a song I won't really be able to understand except maybe just a few words 😅

Your cantonese pronunciation is better than Zhou Shen LOL. Zhou Shen had a little bit mandarin accent. However his voice is really as beautiful as the original cantonese singer Priscilla Chan.

Haha thank you 😅😅 it's probably 'cause my native family speaks Cantonese although I, myself only know the bare basics of the language lol. Zhou Shen's native tongue is Mandarin, right? Maybe that's why. Still super impressive that he can sing in so many different languages! And yesss, he's got such a beautiful voice for sure 😍

@@yellowberrio Zhou Shen's native tongue is Hunan dialect. I think China has more than a thousand dialects, vary from place to place. Cantonese is one of them, a well known dialect in China. People usually talk in their own dialect in their birth places. This brought a problem that Chinese couldn't talk to each other in different dialects a hundred years ago. Nowadays Mandarin is the official language of China and all pupils must learn and speak Mandarin in school so almost all Chinese know Mandarin and it became a common language in China. However that causes some dialects gradually disappeared because teens don't use them.
