Okay - so my entire community was telling me about THAT cinematic. Well we finally reached it. My first experience with Diablo has been an absolute journey, the game is so well done.

The acting between lilith and inarius in this scene is fantastic. The regret and resignation between them and inarius' voice waivering when he says "it all ends... with you" shows the love he once had for her... just so well done.

God I love this scene but I still believe Lilith set this entire trap up cause she knew inarius and his soldiers would lay siege to hell and would come for her I mean she's not stupid or to be underestimated which makes Lilith even more dangerous plus if she and inarius truly had a fling throughout the millennia then she knows his strengths and weaknesses

@@amaziiin yea, the celestial beings are "ressurrected" in essence but not in identity. There might be a new archangel being born from the essence of Inarius, but they won't be Inarius itself.

I've seen some people guess that she's a demon now, taken possession or something once they lost the light. Could be truth, could be cope. I guess we'll have to see what happens if they decide to actually pursue it and not just shrug her survival off. Same feeling with the whole end of the story and why the main character just kind of accepted because of Mephisto's influence from the beginning, WHO knows I suppose. Best guess is what Aaron said and it was just a re-write and money saving with Blizz recent track record.

It's the way in which it happened I imagine. An argument, Inarius stabs Lilith, Lilith seeds doubt, Lilith stabs Inarius and tears his wings off, done. Knowing the lore, knowing how long Inarius spent in hell and was twisted by Mephisto's hatred, knowing how unstable his character is adds context and it does make sense that it goes down the way it goes down. Without the knowledge of the lore, you see visions throughout the game of Lilith doing all these things and command all these powerful allies and Inarius just... exists as a counterpart. You see him once where he rejects you and looks at a stained glass image of himself, then you hear about how he's an equal and polar opposite of Lilith, then in this cutscene he kills two demons on the way to her, gets stabbed once, begs for help and goes out just like that. The game doesn't show how Inarius is actually powerful, he sits (well, floats) in a church whilst his zealot followers plant his flag everywhere they go. Then the game doesn't really explain why Inarius is the way he is and you also can't find it in written lore in the game. He is a very powerful angel, but tormented and prone to doubt and insecurity because of this. As the game doesn't show this and hasn't explained it, it just looks strange how he's taken out so easily. This specific cinematic and Inarius' downfall is done well, but there hasn't been enough build-up towards it that was visible to the player.

Agreed. It reminds me of Bolvar getting curb stomped by Sylvanas in the WoW Shadowlands cinematic lmao. We finally have the opportunity to explore more of Inarius' character and motivations and then blizz just decides to give him an incredibly anti-climactic death... like why.....
