You don't need to draw a stupid line between drug addiction and it. It's bad enough on it's own. It takes advantage of people with mental illness. Another thing, the drug dealers and the drug addicts aren't the 'bad' OR 'good' guys. They are just people like you and me, under different circumstances. Some of them are bad, some of them are good. Companies should just increase the Pay to Win. Like, make 'endgame Soft Cap' free to play players can reach in 1 month cost just $100k then the Hard Cap fully Geared cost 10 million dollars. And then the top endgame, cost 1 billion dollars. I would like to know which 'Whale' reaches those numbers and is still proud and defends the game. We look at these Whales as big spenders but ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, they are spending just a little money. And it doesn't affect them. Like regular Americans spending 10$ in a game. It's little money.

That kind of mobile game is like drugs. 'Pay to win' makes you feel better than 'Free to win'. Game makers focus on how to make you addicted in gambling and empty your wallet instead of making good game contents. There're so many mobile games like that in my country China, even some online pc games.Although they're shits, there're still many players being addicted to it and throwing lots of money. $100,000 is not that much comparing to chinese 'pay to win' players. "Me being a pay to play, how does this affect the game of a free to play player?" I will tell you. Because you pay insane amounts of money for the game, you literally incentivise game makers to create games exclusively made for you. You incentivise game makers to add monetization to everything. And this isnt even just mobile games, it clearly isnt, we have seen how this has been creeping more and more into PC games. It used to be that if I bought a game for 50 bucks, I had a game, with everything in it at my disposal, where I could play to unlock achievements, often in the form of skins. Then they started making skins pay to play only. Then they started adding customisation just to increase the amount of payment ppl do. And its obvious why. If you pay 100k on a single game, just think how many copies at 50 bucks that is. You singlehandedly pay the same amount that 2000 other players would spend on a tripple A title. That means any player who drops 50 bucks on a game only pays 0.05% of what a single whale pays. Or to turn it around. 0.05% of whales pay the same amount of money as the entire rest of the playerbase. Why on earth would any company care for the rest of the playerbase, if they can instead try to get more whales. Double the amount of whales and you get 50% more profit. And for most games that only means to get a few hundred or thousand whales into the game. So it very much so affects the average player. Cause games companies would rather build casinos for ppl that dont know what to do with their money, than to create fun video games. Especially as a lot of people never had this type of money to spend on games in their entire life. I have like 100 bucks a year to spend on video games. And these insane purchases from people that have too much money are the reason why those 100 bucks are increasingly worthless. I can buy less and less games, and get less and less content in the games I do buy. And this is just the systemic issue behind this bs. The fact that these types of games systematically take money from children who literally cant afford it pushing entire families into financial ruin is the cherry on top of all this nonsense.
