Playing the piano in Kazakh colour costume in a spotlight building it up, getting up, moving to central stage doing knee drop and crazy voice athletics. He was actually fighting for his life there, but it befitted the song as well. Such a great choice, if he had the right at that time to choose the song. In my opinion Dimash version is #1 in every category except for the English pronunciation. Lara is great but Dimash is on a level all his own.He applies a vocal control to his notes that is filled with detail and great intention. Lara and Dimash for me are yin and yang. I love them both. They have many artistic similarities, and they have distinctly, almost opposite energies. Igor said long ago that he was composing a new duet for the two of them. I hope it still happens someday, because it will be exceptional.

Hi, Sabina. I simply love your reaction to these two vocalists singing "Adagio", versions which incidentally I haven't seen before. We must bear on mind that this was probably one of the prime songs of Lara that drew Dimash's attention. To me, myself a (67yo) musician, Lara's influence is as clear as daylight, regardless the version(s) that Dimash has seen and listened to. Also, while Dimash (and he does this every time always being very dramatic) draws you in immediately, Lara in this performance does that gradually instead. Each of these artists did, firstly, how they wanted to do this; Secondly, why did they choose to do it in this way? I would leave that as an open ended question. It's anyone guess. Love you, Sabina, for putting these two greatest of artists side by side. Your reaction is beautiful and stunning. ❤

Dimash did the same a while back. Very ill. Had to get injections in his throat on site to be able to sing. Other then he was sweating profusely no one could tell that he was suffering. Best professionals ever. Most others would have cancelled.

I had seen both videos, but not one right after the other. I enjoyed the juxtaposition. The two artists deliver different vibes. Lara: she's *demanding.* She's a strong woman who knows what she wants and she'd damn well better get it, because she believes she's worth it. Dimash: he's *begging.* He's a vulnerable man who is desperately searching for commitment from a loving partner. Both are convincing in their roles. I felt that Dimash's energy level - while high relative to most other performers - was scaled back in the Sochi performance. For raw energy, his Singer 2017 performance was over the top. I liked that about the Singer performance. I also liked Dimash's arrangement. It didn't *only* let him exploit his vocal skills and range. It has some nice ornamental melismas not found in Lara's original song, and that long sustained note where the orchestra is moving the song along while he remains fixed on one note, and then takes it upward, is almost the most gorgeous sound I've ever heard. Goodness, but it's beautiful. But Lara's performance is more mature. She is in perfect command, whereas Dimash in 2018 was still searching for it. He found it in later songs, such as Love Is Like a Dream and Passione, where he is in absolutely perfect command of himself, the song and the audience. Dimash today is at Lara's level as a performer, with the added bonuses of vaster range and more vocal techniques mastered. It's a pleasure to listen to either. Or both. Yes, let's listen to both! :-)

Dimash always gives his all in every performance. It wasn't because he was afraid of being eliminated. People say things in comments but it's not always based on facts. He wasn't in Danger of going home when he did Adagio... no more than anyone else. He wasn't in last place in Uptown Funk anyway. Dimash sang this song the same way BEFORE the Singer competition. People seem to forget how he performed the song in 2016. He was just as passionate and he wasn't in a competition. So you are correct to say that Dimash always performs at 200% and I think sometimes we take that level of commitment for granted. Personally, I'm not partial to Lara's Performance. She has a beautiful voice and vocal styling but I don't connect with her. I don't feel the pain and the anguish that I do with Dimash in this song. And this song is all about longing and being lonely and waiting for a lost love. It's a passionate song. In my opinion there is no other way to sing it but passionately. And of course Dimash has ruined me forever. My expectations are so sky high now. And you know, he has this ability to take over songs from other artists and make them so iconic that no one will be able to match him... not even the original artist. Thanks for the video. It was cool to see both performances.

Be careful : there is a mashup of them singing "The Love of Tired Swans" together, and a reactor who called his channel Zeus was hit by a copyright strike by Lara Fabian's people. Hello Sabina. Of Brazil. I hadn't seen Lara singing that song. Nor had I seen Dimash singing on the New Wave. I had only seen that of "The Singer". The presentations really are quite different. Her voice is beautiful. I actually really liked her sweetness and soft arrangements, but I also really like Dimash's powerful dramatization. The emotional charge with which he develops this song causes chills. You are right, it causes feelings of love and pain at the same time. Dimash was great, cause he IS great, but I fell deeply in love with his Adagio version from the Competition and so I really can't fully (!) enjoy other versions from him … (you know, what I try to say?)

Hi Sabina, great reaction to these two superb performances, I'm pretty sure he didnt get the lowest score the week of uptown funk whereby he could be eliminated as does the lowest scoring artist each week. It was his lowest score he had received up until then but he was still at position 5 out of 8 performances. 👌👌👌👌😊😊
