Great to see a new reaction to this - especially from a reactor I admire very much - as it’s one of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen. I watched much more after seeing this and have downloaded some of her original music. For fun, the PMJ version of Barbie Girl with Morgan is terrific; for something stunning and heartfelt, her version of Take Me to Church, with just PMJ’s Scott Bradley accompanying her on piano, is beautiful. Morgan is classically trained, has sung on broadway, and sings a lot of jazzy and r’n’b songs with her exemplary empathy for the music.

Ok, we all know (or should) that Morgan is an absolute vocal unit! Her range, control and flexibility are absolutely stunning. The warm color she gets with her gorgeous resonance is breath taking. Summed up, she is an extremely talented vocalist with pristine control of her instrument. All that being acknowledged....can we talk about what a BAD man that is on that Cello!??! Everyone see how he seamlessly switches from an almost classical guitar pickling on it to blending that bow warble with Morgans crescendo? Dudes a bad, bad Cellist, in the most good way possible.

good reaction, sabina. this is by far my pmj favorite with morgan james. her vocals are amazing, but the arrangement is also superb especially the strings. once you watch it a few times and recover from ms james, you start to realize how great the rest of it is. the guy on the cello with the semi solo after her first long belt where he plucks it like a guitar is awesome... anyway, if want to watch another stunning one, check out "all about the bass"... it includes both morgan and haley (my personal favorite)...

Post Modern Jukebox is a "band" around Scott Bradlee. He is nearly the only fix member of the band and he introduces always other musicians and always professional singers. Nearly all songs are coverversions from actually songs in a oldfashion style: Jazz, Ragtime, Discopop for exampel. Morgan James is one my favorite singers in this kind. I love the coverversion from Maroon 5s Maps. This, so my opinion, Morgan James shows her best side.

Thanks for the reaction. She displays quite amazing precision, stamina, and control doing the very difficult "dream on" belts coming one after another in the song. Sadly, it took the lockdowns of 2020 before I found her music on KZbin. Scot Bradleey's arrangement was also very good and on point. It has the only example I know of a plucked "jazz cello" Morgan also covers Joni Mitchell's music. She's one of the few singers who can cover Mitchell well. I'm a bit late to the party, I know, but just found your channel (following reactions to Morgan James and PMJ). They do a great "Take Me to Church" too. And if you like that you'll like PMJs collaborations with Haley Reinhart, particularly "Creep" and and "Seven Nation Army." And then I listened to a Dimash reaction - not someone I'd come across before, and not quite my mug of tea, but I can't help thinking he has an evil twin (not really) in Jinger. Look for the Jinjer live session of "Pisces" and you'll see what I mean. :-)

Actually the vocal is live. Morgan does not permit ANY manipulation of her voice on recordings or live. I was supposed to go see (and meet) Morgan however Covid interfered and I could not go.
