@@Mary-bk2wj - you’re incorrect. Aloha had 280 million live viewers and the Moon Landing had just over 600 million. The Aloha viewing figures are more than exaggerated. Factually the concert was broadcast live to only 6 countries and then to a further 15 countries in a delayed broadcast. Out of 161 countries in the world in 1973 ‘Aloha’ was broadcast in only 21 of them. In 1973 the total population of the 21 countries was 831.6 million! By looking at the viewing statistics in those 21 countries it is clear that an absolute maximum of 280million people watched the concert - which is still a fantastic feat!! The moon landing was watched live by a maximum of 600 million people. Half of the world's existing television stations took part in that broadcast including all stations in the US. Not all of the US stations broadcast the Aloha concert.

Please please please stop with the BS. OK? The suit did not weight 75 lbs....that is you being empty headed and believing nonsense that apparently you are too lazy to research and dispute. The suit is on display at Graceland which I have been to and seen as recent at last Thanksgiving (2023). We had a guide show us around. The cape which Elvis wore only at the end for 1 song weighed about 12 lbs. The suit itself weighed about 25-30 lbs. Stop being gullible and believing misinformation.

@@colmflaherty3963 Hi, On June 25th 1967 The Beatles represented the BBC, and Britain, on Our World, the world’s first live television satellite link-up to be seen by approximately 400 million people across five continents. They sang ‘All You Need Is Love’ Personalities, including Maria Callas and Pablo Picasso, from 19 nations performed various items. The event, which lasted two-and-a-half hours, had the largest television audience up to that date. Aloha from Hawaii had a live audience of about 280 million. Elvis and his wife actually split up in early 1972; they were divorced in late October 1973. It's sweat not tears. Elvis put so much into all of his performances that he sweat a lot during every concert. In addition to which, there were heavy lights on him & his outfits were very heavy. As you stated, Elvis had a unique ability to 'take you along with him' while performing his songs. It has a lot to do with why his fans felt so connected to him. Incredible voice & an incredible talent.

I was not born in the 50’s or 60’s to experience Elvis when he was alive. I can only go by what I’ve heard and seen. I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was about 3 or 4 years old and I was at my Grandma’s home and I picked up a vinyl record of his and asked her to play it. I remember this very fondly because the song that played was All Shook Up and I danced around to it. Elvis was a captivating performer and sang with such passion. Songs back then, were written so much better than how they are now. They told more of a story and the musicians/artists told those stories beautifully with their voices and with the passion they had.

Very hard to find an Elvis song that *doesn't* make you feel some emotion..even if it's laughter because of his antics. However, with songs like this he could rip your heart out. More than one opera singer said that Elvis could do what they did but they couldn't do what Elvis did. Listen to It's Now Or Never and you'll see what I mean. It was adapted from an operatic song.

It wasn't aired in North America that night. Elvis went onstage at midnight Hawaiian time which put North America from 6 am eastern to 3 am western. It was broadcast later with a few songs added. After the concert Elvis and the band came back to the stage and recorded songs to be aired in North America. You can tell the added songs because Elvis isn't wearing a belt as he had already thrown it into the audience.

Sweating - not crying. Elvis was very physically active during performances (no performers today would even attempt to perform at the same physical level for a concert as he did) there were the glaring, hot stage/TV lighting, and the jumpsuits Elvis wore during those years weighed around 40 lbs each. Elvis did cry when he walked off stage after performing "If I Could Dream" in tribute during the '68 tv special from grief over the deaths of MLK and RFK, but never on stage.

Great reaction I did hear from the Elvis’s family that they did not like the movie there was a lot missing and his life was great in the 70s were asked to move he made it seem like it was sad. They are proud of Elvis Presley play Barry and he was a very camping man and exceptional and had a huge heart. They didn’t show a lot of the friends and family that he was close to his cousin and. Sign showing had a great relationship with him in the 70s and the movie made it seem like he was sad that whole time which is not the case. I just thought I would say that because I haven’t gotten over to some of the other ones who talked about seeing the movie just letting you know that his personal family didn’t really care for it.

THAT RUNWAY from the STAGE: Thanks to the genius of producer/director Marty Pasetta, the runway for Elvis was built. Pasetta told Parker he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no. Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to because Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis. Parker said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose weight & Elvis lost 25 lbs. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Without that ramp the concert would have been very different if Elvis did not have the opportunity to get in close touch w-the audience. This was a BENEFIT CONCERT to RAISE MONEY for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. It was expected to raise $25,00 but it raised $75,000. There was no set ticket price -- people were told to pay whatever they wished. Elvis was first to buy his own ticket for $1,000. No, no crying. Profuse perspiration from hot jumpsuit, & mega hot house lights & stage lights.

This song is so intensely about *self-deletion* (which most seem to not fully connect with) coupled with his forever unmatched ability to convey intense anguish through his singing that if you're severely depressed, I'd say DO NOT LISTEN 'TILL YOU'RE OK AGAIN, especially if you're a man and said depression has its origin in a failed relationship and thus matching the song too perfectly for comfort. Danish, I grew up practically breathing Elvis from birth (since my parents basically played nothing else) before even learning English as my 2nd language (my flawless, distinctly southern US accent is entirely due to me singing along to Elvis, trying to mimic his pronunciation). There was a long while (divorce-related) where I skipped listening to this top 10 Elvis songs of mine because I surely didn't need more stuff pushing me towards that 6-feet deep end. I'm as far from a "trigger warning" guy as you'll ever find, but this and Johhny Cash's Hurt are two where it legit might be advisable.

Elvis did choose songs that revolved around what he was feeling and going through in his life. And just because Linda was with him doesn’t take away all of heartache from Priscilla; who was in his life for 14 years. No one can speak to any absolutes on what he was feeling or thinking. @@tlo3571 Elvis was far from being in a good physical place for Aloha! . He had been ordered by Marty Pasetta, the show Director, to lose some serious weight. For the six weeks leading up to the Aloha concert, a Las Vegas doctor had him on a crash diet of prepackaged, dried foods consisting of five hundred calories a day, with the odd addition of a daily injection of urine from a pregnant woman. It was effective, in that Elvis dropped twenty-five pounds for the performance. It is difficult to know this and then not look at the Aloha concert in a different light. Elvis was not a healthy man in peak shape. He was a malnourished man, performing at peak, with little food to properly fuel his body or his brain. Elvis was quite literally running on empty.

This may be Elvis' finest performance right here. The African American female backup singers are the Sweet Inspirations. One of them is Cissy Houston....the mother of Whitney Houston!!! Elvis had to a work out, diet and swim to get in shape for this show. This was the last time he was seen in good shape, the next four years he went down hill, gained a lot of wait, was on all kinds of prescription drugs...and died of some kind of cardiac arrest in August 1977 at age 42. Elvis was a great entertainer but he was a troubled man like so many are, including other entertainers like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Janis Joplin, Robin Williams, the list goes on and on.

I’ve read 32 Elvis books and I don’t claim to be an expert but I’ve never found any evidence that he wanted to grow old with her. Just saying lol he did love her dearly tho and he love his family.
