I think a huge credit goes to their parents. They really focused on allowing them to be individuals and make their own paths. Home schooling gets a bad rap sometimes but this is definitely home schooling done right. Shelter and Let's fall in love for the night have great videos. His are simpler than Billies, not in a bad way, but are still very captivating.

The song was written from the perspective of Amanda Kloots whose husband, Nick Cordero was a Broadway actor who fought Covid for 90+ days, had his leg amputated, and was in a coma, and eventually died of Covid. They had a 1-year-old boy named Elvis, and the last line "he looks just like you" is a reference to their son looking just like Nick. Heartbreaking.

They both have synesthesia so when they write a song it’s really a multidimensional thing for them. (Billie has talked about songs having colors associated with them.) Finneas is really growing as a solo artist. I saw him in 2019 and again just a few weeks ago and his confidence and stage presence has Sky rocketed. I’m a 55 y.o. who is just continually blown away by both his talents and his humility.

As Finneas says, this song is about the world right now for him and Billie going to protests and F'ing 2020 has us all so tired, scared & just plain hopeless, but also if you notice that the lights goes from Red to Blue representing America's politics Republicans and Democrats and how we need to come together "to make the world better than it ever was" and which side of history will you be on with the title (that's what they'll say about us) and "Make the world better than it ever was" (takes a shot at the MAGA bullshit) FINNEAS is a proud vocal Democrat the "bridge" talks of PAIN and how "it never does" get better...referring to RACISM The ending I believe refers to the global pandemic and how it's ( taking patients) and "if you don't wake up I know you tried too" as Finneas states this song also refers to Broadway actor Nick Cordero, who got Covid-19 and had been hospitalized for three months in a coma, and had his leg amputated and never woke up his wife, Amanda Kloots got a huge social media following, Nick was just 41 and they just had a 1 yr old named Elvis which Finneas last verse is dedicated to. But it also represented hope for the future, even though he looks like he's been beaten up and bruised at the end. This song brought me to tears the first 5 times I listened to it and it still chokes me up it's broad appeal to what we are ALL going through right now. this is BEAUTIFUL FINNEAS IS PURE GENIUS

Great reaction! Billie and Finneas just did a Grammy Museum interview which included Hans Zimmer that is really good. Also, their interview on Howard Stern is great, and near the end Howard invites their parents in which is a hoot! Check it out.

My boyfriend send this song to me when my grandfather was sick in the hospital with COVID, my mom was also sick and a bunch of other family members. I was so scared and depressed knowing my grandpa would pass, this song means so much to me.

I started out with Billie as well and it took me too long to give him a shot but I don't regret it one bit.
