I saw a comment under certain idle's video talking about shuhua's vocal. it wrote 2 years ago, the writer seem know much about vocal/music. they said that shuhua's vocal has wide range, and it's matter of time she will surpass other members vocals. now after listen to this comeback I start to believe what they said.

Okay, I'm calling it. The stars of the NXDE era has to be Soyeon and Shuhua. I feel the message is personal to all of them, but Soyeon especially giving two rap breaks to basically shout out to the heavens about it shows her passion. Shuhua, like wise is giving A LOT of facial expressions here and doing so much to give another level and a deeper meaning of the song. I also love that she's comfortable enough now to take equal part in singing, as I really feel she's giving her everything and shining here. Some standout moments (aside from them) is Yuqi's growl and perfect white Marylin-look , Miyeon's "How do I look", Minnie's " Yeppi Yeppi" and of course Animated "Marylin" (but it's really Soojin).

This whole music video was filled with fascinating imagery and references, plus the song is a bop. The fact that they sample Habanera from the opera Carmen in the chorus just brings that extra little spice and another layer of meaning to the song since Carmen is often considered as a femme fatale character because in the opera she seduces and brings about the ruin of a naive soldier.

This music video is so powerful and impactful, the message is conveyed so beautifully; I think sometimes powerful messages are put into music and music vidoes as subtext rather than text, and this is, pun intended, explicit in its meaning. Celebrity as art to be consumed, the way they put the video together, the line about being born nude-- Not to mention they look stunning, sound stunning, seriously it's so amazing if I think about it too much I get emotional. And I'm with you, I hope this song resonates and does well in Korea, because I think it's such an important message--for all of us.

I don't think Minnie's starting verse is tongue-in-cheek: as you said, it is a stage persona. She is performing, just like Marilyn Monroe was, surrounded by audience. Marilyn was a shrewd businesswoman and a brilliant actress who managed to persuade the whole world that she was dumb, shallow and available. Remind you of something? (khm aegyo khm) Soyeon has the next verse and it is in the dressing room, showing the actual, behind-the-scenes persona - a voracious reader, interested in philosophy, a self-made woman.

It was also a huge trend in the film and musicals of that era for women to have mature, overly sexualized physiques but have ditzy, infantilized voices. I figured the song was making a tongue-in-cheek reference to that.

I've said this in another video, but I truly believe it's Shuhua who has brought something special to this comeback (and in no way am I downgrading all the work, talent and effort that every other member has brought to make this possible.). What I mean about that, is finally she has blossomed into a new form, and her charisma brings this slight viciousness? like she's confident, but in the way that it seems that she's looking down on you - which PERFECTLY suits the message of this song. It's this harshness that's almost like 'fuck you'. I especially love her delivery at the end of "you have a dirty mind". Every member brings their own charisma and performance to he group, and now shuhua has brought something unique and new to them, and it rounds it out perfectly. Not to mention, aside from performance, her voice is finally shining and she is rounding out Yuqi's deep voice with her own, as well as bringing lightness when needed. Just. Shuhua makes this comeback and deserves all the praise and hype she's receiving. And again, I'm in no way downplaying the efforts and work of all the other members. All together they make this what it is and is not possible without each of them. Another side note - by classifying Shuhuas presence as 'bitchy' or fierce, I am not saying she is like this as a person. Don't twist me. EDIT: Also, to add to my point. The fact that she went blonde, when before she said she never would and we believe she wouldn't, adds weight to this comeback and the message of WHY they are all blonde. It makes you think about the blonde.
