Don't forget how cool the dancing was. He is the best in making videos and he is such a constantly great singer. His bass is always evident in Voiceplays videos. His voice does not get lost in the mix like some bass singers. Nice review.

The dancers are Dracula, Wolfman (complete with fleas) and the Frankenstein Monster. Another, much cleverer, viewer described them as Dr. Geoff, VladGeoff, WolfGeoff and FrankenGeoff. Since I read comments, I also learned that the dance moves emulate Frankenstein strangling, Wolfman slashing and Dracula swinging his cape. I decided that the hug is Dracula wrapping himself up in his bat wings. Also the opening la la la portion has a bit of Toccata and Fugue. On his Patreon page he introduces the song with apologies to Bach and Beethoven.

Reading through some of the comments here I don't see anyone mentioning Geoff on the right doing the Floss as narrator Geoff dances with his wife. A fun little detail, easily missed. Also the keen eyed have seem Kathy's legs twitch as Geoff sings that very low note on "son". Another brilliant piede of work here and a nice reaction to it.

As everyone else has already said, the women is Kathy, Geoff's wife. She also makes an appearance in Voice Play's Daddy Sang Bass video. If you like Johnny Cash, you'll like that video. Its so fun. I love this version of this song! I think when it first was released, I must have watched it about 5x to try to catch everything. So well done!

I honestly think he should put "inspired by" rather than "cover"... his songs are ALMOST always a completely different song. I first found them on Oogie Boogie, and when I went to the original song it was almost unrecognizable. The original Monster Mash is very much a song of its time, a early pop dance style that really wasn't scary. Oh, we listened to it for Halloween, but not for a spooky playlist. Geoff made the song back into a spooky song that will be on my list.

Geoff is part of Voice Play & Disney founded Voice Play & hired them as their acapella group. Voice Play has owns the rights to the Disney cover songs. That is why they stick to the original while they put in their own twist .
@veronicathunander45793 жыл бұрын
I guess they’ve been recommended before, but VoicePlay’s Nightmare Before Christmas series is great. You’ve done the Oogie Boogie, but there’s also “What’s This?”, “This is Halloween” and “Kidnap the Sandy Claws”. They’ve also done a spooky variant of Superstition!

Another fun Halloween one to watch comes from another two of VoicePlay's members, Layne and former member Tony. They own PattyCake Productions which does a lot of Geoff's solo songs and the whole group's. They've done one called Bump in the Night which is a spoof on horror villains and is absolutely hilarious. They both sing in this one and are in character. It's a long intro into it but so worth it. LOL

I'm not sure if this is a true fact, but I read that Geoff has a range of 4.5 octaves. I wouldn't much doubt it! The "dead lady" is Geoff's wife Kathy, who actually did all the makeup for the video. Don't know if you caught it, but after she screams, Geoff says, "Oh good, you're awake." Lol! :D Superb!

I never liked the original Monster Mash. Terrible, I know! But I can't stop humming Geoff's version! And I lovelovelove that he actually got the dance choreographed! I didn't realize that that was part of my dislike for the song until I saw Geoff dancing and thought- 'Yes! That's what was missing! The actual dance!!' But of course, Geoff just has the kind of talent that can transform just about anything. I'm so glad he redeemed this song for me.

I loved Bobby Picket's original as a kid, but I gotta say Geoff's _Monster Mash_ is *so much* better. It's not just the Geoff is a much better singer, but he adapted the song for modern folks. The faces Bobby would pull and impressions of Boris Karloff and Bela Legosi are just plain dated. Geoff's vampire, wolfman, and mummy personas were great.
