I think the autotranslation is 95% spot on. Sometimes it doesn't make sense because it's literaly translating everything he says and he's talking like he's having a conversation not like having a pre written speech. He starts some sentences, but doesn't ... so some translations look weird especially when being cut up.

The subtitles didn't really get his point across, I fear. Till is a very special character because he sits right there in-between comedy and cabaret. He is political sometimes but he always wants the laughter (not like Schramm or Pispers, I would say). I would say Moritz Neumeier is another one and he is also very good friends with TIll. He is more sarcastic than Till but I personally like him more. I fear that there aren't really clips of him with good subtitles, though. Edit: I created a channel myself, where I upload manually translated german cabaret and satire/comedy clips. It's called "German Cabaret" if people want to look it up

Till Reiners is an ascending star in the German comedy scene and I strongly recommend tracking his career for your German comedy reaction, there is a lot of his material already online available. Personally, I found this piece not so funny and would reccomend the "Falsch aber Lustig" ("wrong but funny") series, as it is by design densly packed with gags that show more of modern German humour instead of e.g. square Loriot style. But it includes a lot of puns that may be hard to translate and YT's autotranslation is not helpful.

You better should try to get confirmation if the translation actually is done by someone who speaks both languages and understands how to translate the metaphors and jokes into english, before you watch it. It is a shame when actually good and smart comedy gets lost in an automatic translation.

Yup, these automatically translated subtitles are really not good. They not only lack punctuation but are often simply incorrect or cut in a way that the punchline doesn't come through. If I only knew English, I would have no idea what the guy is rambling about. I don't want to elaborate too much, but in short: He's making fun of how people in Germany are so foolish to vote for Nazi parties again due to some inconveniences with the current situation. The subtitles make it seem quite the opposite, as if he supports that. This is NOT the case. Till Reiners is absolutely, unequivocally left-wing politically.

I like him and some others around him, but I sometimes miss the old league of satire like Hildebrand, Bruno Jonas and very much Volker Pispers for their vast knowledge and deep understanding of the topics they are tackling. These Comedians that dabble in sarcasm and cynicism and talk about politics may have their heart at the right place but seem a bit shallow to me. But sure, not everyone can be a legend.

Where I agree is that the old comedians were more critical of the system and the order of things in general, especially Pispers. I think that’s why the material from then is so rewatchable nowadays. I think modern comedians have to deal with the dilemma that on one hand not much has changed on a systemic level, while on the same time society has to deal with the ever aggravating consequences. In essence I would add to your point that older comedians reflected more on the root causes, while modern comedians focus more on the effects of todays problems

the problem with afd is, they dont have any soultions or policies for our current problems. their high numbers are mainly an indicator of how bad and disorganised and stuck in their ways all the established parties of the status quo political centre are. so now, they are not doing enough to stop them because that would mean theyd have to change their whole systemic flaws and their are not willing to do that. its always big talk about innovations and reforms, but hardly anything meaningful happens. people feel ignored and frustrated. thats why he says "oh i had a bad summer, sorry gotta vote nazi now"

Unfortunately, I really don't like him. A comedian has to make me laugh. A cabare artist has to make me think or laugh or have a good point or be philosophically or have a well written show/story/song whatsoever. But Till Reiners doesn't possesses any of these qualities. He just talks about stuff, everyone already knows (like the AFD or the climate and doesn't do much deeper research in it) and just uses some poorly executed black humor to make people laugh, just because it seems so harsh and forbidden what he says. Some might say, this is just the role Till Reines plays, but for me he just really does not put in a lot of effort. Combined with his arrogant attitude (partly also the role he is playing) just makes him more unsatisfying. He might have some kind of justification for his actions, since some people laugh and he seems to earn money, but it just really doesn't feel good at all. Just in comparison, Sebastian Puffpaff or Falk Pflücker are doing some similar things, but are much better in how they do it. The create the same image and partly talk about the same stuff, but with more thought and creative work. Sometimes I find it sad, that some people seem to have low demands, but then don't visit Mario Bart but people like Till, just because they at least want to feel smart. For me he feels like the same level, than Dieter Nuhr, maybe even a bit below. I probably could name at least 30 Comedians and Cabare Artists, that provide more value than him and are better.
