Mamamoo has become a standard by which vocals are judged. I put Big Mama in there as well, but I think that the younger folk probably don't know who they are. On top of talent, they're also a very likeable group, aren't they? They've also been very independent from the get-go. Yet another group that you can't understand why anyone wouldn't like them.

I was actually very impressed by Mrs Coach on the Killing Voice reaction because of the little things she was able to pick up on about the girls without knowing anything about them. The only thing better than Mamamoo live with a band is Mamamoo live with a band and an audience of moomoos, who become the collective 5th member with their fanchants and provide that extra jolt of energy that pushes the group to their peak. Mrs Coach wisely noted that their music appeals to people of all ages. I turn 70 this year and I may be a jaded old fart muttering "You call that music?!" when it comes to most current pop songs but I fanboy like a kid when it comes to Mamamoo. I hope you get your wish to see them in concert. Too bad you didn't know about them when they did their first US tour last year. Mamamoo has never been the most popular kpop girl group, partly because they're under a small label lacking the resources and clout of the Big 3 or 4 agencies. I think it showed the respect they've earned around the world when they joined TLC, Destiny's Child and the Spice Girls as the only girl groups to sell over 70K tickets on their debut US tour, which they accomplished despite an almost total lack of tour promotion by their label and zero media coverage or radio airplay in the US. Since I thought it might be my only chance to see Mamamoo in concert I went to the shows in NY and Baltimore and they were just as fantastic as you'd imagine. Fyi Wheein will be doing a solo world tour this year. Dates and locations haven't been announced other than the opening concerts in Seoul in late February. You might want to subscribe to her label's yt channel at www.youtube.com/@THEL1VE and her IG account at instagram.com/whee_inthemood to keep track of updates in case she comes to a venue near you. Mr Ambiguous has an interesting backstory that I think you'll enjoy. The song was originally called Mamamoo and was written for Quincy Jones by Kim Dohoon, a well known kpop songwriter who is the co-CEO of Mamamoo's label RBW and the guy who formed the group. The girls performed the song for Quincy when he was in Seoul for a concert while they were still trainees and didn't have a name for their group yet. QJ decided not to use the song so it was partially re-written, re-titled Mr Ambiguous (Mr Ememoho in Korean, which sounds like Mamamoo) and became their debut single. The original song title became the group's name. In the dance for Mr Ambiguous, which was choreographed by Moonbyul, they make that mustache move with their fingers and have done it ever since as part of their harmonized self-introduction. While it's true that this is a terrific live performance I think it's worth watching the MV to see them as young, raw rookies cuz right from the start their voices were anything but young and raw - their talent was top tier from the get go. During this session on It's Live they also performed Where Are We Now and I'd highly recommend you watch that performance and the MV too. Where Are We Now is one of their vocal masterpieces and was my personal pick for 2021 SOTY, not that that matters to anyone but me lol. 😂

@@CoachCastTV You're probably right about the bigger label theory but there are a couple of things you may not know about. First off, if it wasn't for RBW's Kim Dohoon it's very possible that none of the members would have ever debuted and they certainly wouldn't have debuted together as a group. RBW plucked the members from the scrap heap of audition rejects and retreads from other companies. Solar failed about 50 auditions with other companies because she was thought to be too old (over 20). Hwasa was sent packing from at least one audition and told she was too fat and ugly. After their debut people petitioned to have her removed from the group because they thought she didn't fit kpop's beauty standards. Moonbyul & Wheein signed with RBW after failing to debut with another agency. Second, I don't think being a small company is an excuse for how RBW has handled Mamamoo's career. RBW made a number of mistakes over the years that hurt Mamamoo and they've never made much of an effort to promote MMM globally. No artist under RBW has achieved the level of success in Korea or internationally you'd think they would based on their talent. For example, MMM albums typically sell around 100K copies while the most popular kpop artists' albums sell in the millions. By contrast, Big Hit was also a small company but they managed to help BTS become the world's biggest boy group. RBW has been both a blessing and a curse and like many moomoos I have mixed feelings about the company. They've been a good artistic home for the group but I don't think any of us were surprised when Wheein and Hwasa left the company.

I think rbw is pretty much divided into 2 teams, the business team n the artist team. Kim Dong Hon is the head of the artist team, kim jong won? The head of business. I think KDH is doing pretty good in recognizing talents n training them. Although since his own style is pretty strong, i think its a good idea to leave if they want to grow further. I think new experiences r important 4 artist. KJW on the other hand, i dont think he believes or like his artists. (or even the music industry in general). Instead of actually investing in the artists, he tried stupid stuff like nfts, gold, etc. He got ambitous n tries to acquire this n that company for the ips. He tried everything except the actual music production n marketing. So..... go figure.

I love It’s Live the band does a great job of capturing everybody’s songs and it gives members a chance to just sing without choreo getting in the way. There’s a lot of great segments by many groups. I remember liking Brave Girls, Billlie, and Purple Kiss off the top of my head. Mamamoo toured here last year. I got to see them in Nashville. They also had a concert movie in US theaters that was pretty good.

They are very active, with group, solos, collabs, covers, and OSTs they do 20+ songs every year and they only finished a world tour last year, I saw them in LA last June. Wheein is apparently doing a world tour but the schedule is not yet published. They will be back to the US at some point, last year was their first US tour, many cities and it was successful. They will be back in the US, it might be a couple of years. Solar for example started a project Solar gamsung, unbelievably good covers, The kind of songs where you will cry for some. after 10 songs, she stopped saying she will get back to it, well 2 days ago she did it. They are very active but they dont let on what they are doing.

Howdy from Louisiana! I'm glad y'all have stumbled upon Mamamoo and are properly appreciative of their boundless talent. It's nice to see y'all can identify the things that make their voices so incredible just off your gut feel. Things like Wheein's clear, forward, airy and honey-like tone, Hwasa's rasp and attitude, Solar's control on her belts, and Moonbyul rapping with a rhythmic and melodic feel instead of just saying a bunch of words fast and angry. If you'd like more great performances to react to, 1. The Way to Sampo - a cover they did on Immortal Songs, almost has a gospel feel to it. 2. "Mamamoo Studio M Stage" - a mashup of 3 of their songs played with some of their house band. Finally, the song you heard here Mr Ambiguous is their debut song from 10 years ago, but they have rearranged it several times over the years. They closed a concert with this, and it's absolutely worth a watch to hear it with their live band and crowd. Definitely recommend even if you don't make a video to it. If you look up "SWFS Concert full" on youtube and click on the 4 hour video, hop to 3:51:45 - 3:59:00 to see them bring the house down. Keep making Mamamoo videos and I'll keep watching :)

Im a huge blackpink fan but I love Mamamoo as well, so I’m glad you guys are reacting to more of them :) and Hwasa from Mamamoo is my number 1 ultimate bias of any group. Love Hwasa so much - a lot of her solo stuff is great too. All 4 mamamoo members have some great solo songs.

They are one of the only goups that I can listen to, all day every day, on Spotify... both as Mamamoo, the subunit(Mamamoo+), and solos Because of the diversity in their sound, their ability to cover others, to change genres... in all aspects.

I went to their Dallas, TX concert last year and I can tell you, they are some of the most amazing performers live. Their vocals and stage presence is off the charts in person. Even with their limited English, you can just feel all of the love and passion they have for what they do and towards their fans. I almost cried being able to witness them live and in person.

Thank you for this reaction. It's a lovely little performance--for one thing they seem to always take it up a notch when there is a live band--but respectfully you still have not reacted to a Mamamoo live performance. Even if its only a 'studio audience,' Mamamoo almost always finds a way to inspire and react to the energy of their fans. Unfortunately, I believe this performance of Mr. Ambiguous was still during covid protocols and that is why there is no such interaction on display, if indeed there was even a real audience present at all. I hope you will soon find a live performance that you can react to that puts the group's live dynamic fully on display. It's a core component of the Mamamoo identity and the Mamamoo experience. Thank you for the wonderful reaction! One thing I love about this live version of Mr Ambiguous is the way Solar and Hwasa trade adlibs at the end. It's so fun and spectacular. This is something they added recently. In the original version and in countless previous performances, it's Solar belting adlibs by herself. Now when I listen to the earlier versions, my brain fills in Hwasa's part. It fits so perfectly with Solar's part. The other thing I love is watching the four members having so much fun on stage together.

Actually that's not true, Hwa Sa and Solar have been doing those adlibs TOGETHER since the debut. I posted a comment above linking the original MV, and 2 live performances that show them doing it.

I think I got confused because the album version (on Hello and on I Say Mamamoo the Best) seem to be missing just a couple of the adlibs near the end, and the small difference in the live version I ended up exaggerating in my mind. Yw, on both of those versions it's also Hwa Sa and Solar singing the adlibs, but if you watched lyric videos that someone made, a lot of those get who sang which part wrong ESPECIALLY the adlibs. So maybe that's where you saw it. I see those and get so frustrated with them. I actually asked one channel if they spoke Korean, and they said no. They just use Google translate (Gah!). They just want to be the first to get a video up, and get views, they don't care if they have it right, or if it's close to making sense. It's a shame really. Some also, just barely know the groups, so they can basically guess who is singing.@@moomoobebe

Queendom, Mamamoo, I Miss You - This is a live version from a from a music competition show called Queendom. There isn't a MV for this song. Mamamoo just toured in the USA last year.

They just finished there last world tour, and their fist time in the US, in June of last year. MAMAMOO joins the ranks of Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, and TLC as the ONLY girl groups to sell over 70,000 tickets on their FIRST tour in the USA. This makes MAMAMOO the ONLY girl group to achieve this milestone AFTER a 21-year gap. AND the ONLY Non-English speaking girl group to accomplish such a feat. -Wheein's extended her contract with RBW for Group activites until the END of 2023. NO "Official" word on if Wheein has extend her deal for Mamamoo again. -While doing her Solo work exclusively with The L1ve label. -Hwasa has just signed with PNation(don't know why, even her Friend Jessi has left it). -There has been NO "Official" word what type of deal, if any, Hwasa has made with RBW, To continue with Mamamoo. Don't forget that RBW holds a lot of the rights when it comes to Mamamoo. So the Fact that the members want to Continue Group activities, means they have to make an agreement with them. Now you have THREE companies that have to agree to terms, and schedualing. Along with the 4 members individual scheduals. As well as the SubUnit Mamamoo+ (Solar & Moonbyul) It's going to be a logistical nightmare.

Ah, mamamoo returns! Always love to see these women on your channel and hear your thoughts. Always makes me put on some more Mamamoo after! I'm not really sure what gets blocked or not, but I would guess that videos from their channel usually don't? If you look for one called "MAMAMOO - I Love too (Never Letting Go)" on their channel, that's a live from one of their concerts (their first, actually!). Emotional, beautiful, and I won't say any more! And for a COMPLETELY different kind of vibe, you can also find a video on their channel called "(MAMAMOO) '아재개그' 버스킹 현장". There's no English title on that video, but copy and paste should work. This one is their song "AZE GAG" (or "Dad Jokes") performed live in a shopping mall. There aren't any captions on that one, but you wouldn't understand most of the lyrics that way anyway. The lyrics are a bunch of dad jokes, puns, and cultural references that need more translation than a quick caption can do. So if you watch that one, don't stress the words (or you can imagine the cringiest dad jokes you can haha) and just enjoy the vibe!

*BAND LIVE* like *KILLING VOICE* is such a great place to hear live vocal music from talented groups. I also recommend another live vocal KZbin channel called *THE FIRST TAKE.* It is Japanese BUT several Kpop groups have appeared on it like (G)I-DLE and XG. *MAMAMOO* harmonize so effortlessly, you should check out some montage videos that show that or videos of just how funny and chaotic they really are, so funny.

Okay, if you like Mamamoo and Moomoos there is a video to see (and react). It's an amazing stage performance that shows the bond between Mamamoo and Moomoos. A lot of people will say react to this one and this one and this one and it's too much with them... There is a serious amount or audio only tracks available on KZbin. I believe they are not so bad for copyright. The differing styles of music genres Mamamoo cover is amazing and amply demonstrated with the music videos, let alone the myriad of audio only tracks. As always, I love your Mamamoo reactions! Someone commented that Hwa Sa and Solar just started to do the adlibs at the end of the song recently, and actually that isn't true. It's always been Hwa Sa and Solar going back and forth with the adlibs since the debut of the song. Mamamoo did make sure to say at the end of EVERY show during the US leg of the tour that "Mamamoo will Continue", so I am sure they will do more together. They just have to get their company situation figured out, and soon Byul and Solar's contracts will be up... SO we are hoping they will either sign with the same company Hwa Sa did, or create a company between the 2. It wouldn't do them any good to sign where Whee In is, that company isn't doing well. But any way it goes, I am sure of one thing, Mamamoo will continue, because they keep their word. @@CoachCastTV
