when we first started quarantining, i stayed at my dad's house for a couple weeks crashing on the couch so that i wasn't by myself. the memory and feeling of going through all of omg's mvs at night and listening to their discography while going to sleep is so vivid for some reason. i got into other groups then too, but omg just really stands out as helping keep me in good spirits during that time

Being a gg stan, I of course, knew about OMG but their music isn’t exactly my style even if I can appreciate how talented they are....... .....Then Queendom happened!!! & I was a fan almost over night (I can say the same about Lovelyz but that’s a story for another day). And yes, their Destiny cover might be the best performance I’ve ever seen on any competition show! I would argue that SG had as much of an impact on their career as Gee did for SNSD. Now I’m not stupid enough to believe OMG has had near the same impact on kpop as SNSD but the song basically saved them from disbanding. And while a lot of people know SNSD now & over the years, the reality is they were kind of floundering prior to Gee & were it not for the SM money machine they may have been close to disbanding as well....if you don’t believe me just google SNSD Black Ocean. For my money Dolphin was easily a top 5 2020 b side of the year & this coming from a massive inSomnia (DC may or may not have had the other 4 😂)....it just hit different. A couple of random thoughts... -Mini with that short brown hair in SG will never not be a good look. -Speaking of Mini, her rap in Remember Me is so damn good...unfortunately she is often over looked as a rapper because of their music style & concept but she’s extremely talented & has great flow. -Queendom Jiho, with the long blonde hair is sexy af, I’m just sayin! She has been setting the standard for 3rd gen visuals since their debut! And yes, I am a Jiho bias....Jiho nation rise up! And her savageness plays so well against the backdrop of the eye catching, sophisticated beauty! -Arin, THE ending fairy, has had the most amazing glow up in kpop history...fight me! -Binnie in Remember Me (& especially the outtakes in Dolphin) with that red hair & 40’s inspired look will forever be a fucking mood!

For years I listened to boy groups almost exclusively. I wasn't a huge fan of 2nd generation girl groups. Most of their songs weren't my style (I always had a few exceptions with each group though) except for APink, I was all about APink. But then groups like GFriend and Laboum and Oh My Girl came along and I totally got more into the girl groups. Oh My Girl is probably my favorite though. I love their quirkiness.
