I was feeling optimistic of Malik after I saw his highlights these last couple of preseasons in Tenessee. At the very least I could see the vision Gute had when getting him. I thought Tenesssee did him dirty. He seemed to be developing but according to the Titans fans in the comments their HC was a complete idiot with how they handled him. Essentially they wanted a guy with Malik's tool kit to be a pocket qb. It was so incredibly stupid that they would discourage him from doing what he does best. Either way when looking at the highlights at bare minimum he was gonna be better than Pratt or Clifford.
@JordanRAАй бұрын
MLF game planning absolute master classes utilizing what Willis does best. he does not force Willis to throw and encourages him to run like you should with a guy like this. Many designed keeps, misdirections, and making the downfield throws when they present themselves. I think Willis getting to work with tom Clements is a blessing for him to develop and he can no doubt be a starter for someone, they just need to use his skillset and like you said, not force your Michael Vick type to be a one dimensional pocket passer

Great game. I was very impressed. Opportunistic defense with turnovers, outstanding 4th quarter defense which is new in GB this year, and the offense taking care of the ball. Effort on both sides of the ball was high. The bad? Penalties all over the damn place. Offense leaving what’s working far too soon. No designed runs for Willis in the 2nd half? Running up the middle in favor of the outside? Kraft drop that you eluded to (otherwise a great game from him). I think they left a little meat on the bone by not scheming 3-4 quick slant plays open. Completely avoided the middle of the field passing. Not sure if it was communication on that deep pass to Wicks or the sun, but his ball tracking device seemed to be broken on that play. Lastly, pressure on the QB from our base defense was lacking for the first couple of quarters. But like I said, that 4th quarter was sick. They didn’t get tired and Barry Ball it. They went for the kill. A fantastic performance overall. Just gotta clean stuff up and play a full 4 quarters when we start playing against better QB’s.

Love your content, but I gotta say this: Rashan did get a sack that was unfortunately nullified by Preston Smith committing the penalty. Additionally, with a lot of those sacks that we got when we saw three and four players in the backfield, Rashan was with that group. Lastly, the previous weeks, they were contain rushing. The first priority was to contain the quarterback, so it wasn’t that they were unable to get pressure, they just weren’t pressuring in the standard way. These guys have been doing their job through all three games, we just saw the splash results in this game.

Next week we are gonna need to put together a complete game to beat the Vikings. Rashan Gary got a big 3rd down sack early negated by Preston Smith lining up offsides, also had good pressure on other guys sacks.

I think the question that has to be asked is does MLF work up a few wrinkles into the playbook where Willis is in the game as a second RB along with Love and Jacobs. Fake him on sweep motions with WRs getting down field - defenses would have to have someone watching him running as well as WRs. Could create a surprise explosive play or two - as well as open up the inside if LBs over commit.

Malik Willis will be a starting quarterback somewhere someday. Jordan is the man and rightfully so, but we have all seen instances when the "guy" suddenly is no longer the "guy'. Prior to this year I thought, well if the QB starter goes down then the season is over. Well I love Jordan and at the moment he is the better quarterback, but thank God for the first time since Matt Flynn that I could say, QB starter out, we're still good. That feeling alone is immeasurable. Also, our defense is REAL for the first time since 2009. We need to clean up zone in the middle of the field, but otherwise we are a top 10 defense for sure. Did you know that the entire time Tom Brady was a quarterback, that he only played 3 seasons w/o a top 10 defense? You know how many Rogers had while here, 3 that were top 10. THAT my friends is why we didn't get at LEAST 2 more Super Bowls while Rodgers was here. If only.... You need the "man". But the statement that defense wins championships, will never ever change. They can’t really run this style of offense because Love is not really a mobile qb. Malik is able to create so much more with his legs which gives him more freedom in this type of offense. Love is a gunslinger, that is his play style. The recklessness from Love comes from throwing over the middle of the field which we are not really used to.
