This is sooooo good! Maceo Parker is a funk LEGEND!!!!!! I’ve seen him about 10 times, even got on stage and sang some of Stand By Me with him! Bucket list moment of my life!!! I’m gonna recommend this video to a bestie that’s a huge Prince fan! A friend of ours was one of his lighting techs for years and he brought her Prince’s stage tambourine that has his symbol on it, needless to say it’s a prized possession!❤

I've seen this many times with Maceo. When Maceo starts playing, the whole band gets tighter and funkier and more focused. He generates his own energy and the band has to keep up. In this case this is Prince's band we're talking about!

Just a genius. A once in a generation artist who excelled at Guitar, Bass, Keys, Drums, Dancing, Singing, Song writing and Producing. Too Funky.

It is 2:41am and you two are just adorable to watch! I'm a huge Prince fan and it's nice to see new fans discovering the genius I've followed since 1979. You are in for a treat if you go through his catalog. It's vast and it's deep and you will be a better person having have had the experience of getting some real talent to entertain you. There is literally nobody better.

He would often play guitar and piano or guitar and drums in the same song on stage. He could play almost anything and played everything and did all the vocals on his first albums. He continued to do most of it throughout his career. If you want to watch him do multiple instruments America would be a great one. He played a little of the song here on the bass.

The 2011 Inglewood concert video is also a gem with Prince playing both guitar and bass in his cover of Hollywood Swinging/Play that Funky Music

After every concert no matter what the city, Prince would pop up in some club, in the town he was in, and play for another couple of hours, He did this for years,

During this period Maceo became an official member of Prince's traveling entourage of historically influential musicians. That lead to many incredible live performances, reminiscent of James Brown's stage scorching performances!

Nice find. I have never seen this before. Big Maceo fan. I listened to his cd “life in planet groove” a million times. He was part of the “horny horns” with the great Fred Wesley (trombone) and Peewee Ellis(trumpet)

Just to let you know Maceo Parker was the sax player for James Brown. He is called the "Funky Sax". He is incredible and that is why Prince gives him the floor, he is the man.

I'm definitely glad you're taking the Prince journey, you have to check out the Musicology Auburn Hills 2004 DMSR . I love Prince all together but he's on a whole nother realm where he's performing live

Also detected "777-9311" by The Time (which Prince often did a lot of things for) and his own song "America." I am familiar with Sly's thank you song too, but I didn't pick up on it like you.
