"... So unexpected! " Is the PERFECT reaction to LITERALLY EVERY QUEEN SONG!!!!!!!!!!
@johnsmith-es7zk14 күн бұрын
As a Queen fan back in the early days it was the unexpected that thrilled me. Each time a Queen album was released I would buy it and rush home to play it never quite knowing what surprises awaited. It was like opening presents. Never, ever was I disappointed. The sheer variety was astounding but always with that special unmistakable Queen style and sound.

It's good to see the younger generation listening to (and appreciating) the music I grew up listening to in the 70's. This and A Night At The Opera are still two of my favourite albums almost fifty years later

Queen was the first rock band I ever saw live and this 1976 album was the one that tour was promoting. 'Tie Your Mother Down' was a pretty big hit at the time. Saw them again the next year for their 'News of the World' tour. Life was never the same for me lol!

Wow. It must be a decade or more since I listened to this album and yet it's still all there in my mind- every melody, every harmony and most of the words... such a good album. I must have played it to death in the mid '80's when I first bought it. It still works :)

Thanks, Verdy! I first saw Queen in Jan. 1978 when I was 17... they opened with "tie your mother down"... what an amazing experience...(I was in love with Brian and my BFF loved Freddie..sadly, that didn't work out for either of us.. but love is still love even when it's unrequited).. p.s. .. Thin Lizzy opened for them, and I was mesmerized by Phil Lynott.... I just forgot about Brian for a bit.... (I'm glad you listened to the album version... ),...

Loving your reaction, can’t wait for side two. In my opinion, whilst A Night At The Opera contained two top tier Queen tracks, Bohemian Rhapsody and Death on Two Legs, I’ve always preferred A Day At The Races as an album. Possibly swayed by it being the first album of theirs I owned. The Millionaire Waltz, You Take My Breath Away, Tie Your Mother Down, and the anthemic Teo Torriatte are all belters and their harmonies were at their best, but not only does it feature Somebody To Love, which I consider an even better song than Bohemian Rhapsody, it has my favourite of all of Queen’s songs, White Man.

"The Millionaire Waltz" was intended to be the new "Bohemian Rhapsody," but the biggest hit from this album was "Somebody to Love" instead. Everything Queen did until "The Game" album was simply perfect. They lost their edge a little bit after they switched from rock to the pop genre.

You're enjoying this too much. Cut it out! As for the harmonies on the 2nd song, that was the whole band (or at least 3 of them) singing various harmonic lines multiple times Just piano; on all of their first 5 or 6 albums, it'll say somewhere on the cover that they use no synthesizers. I think "Jazz" might've been the first one where they included synths.

I think Roger should've been lead singer on "Tie Your Mother Down". His voice is more suitable for the harder rock songs. (like "Modern Times Rock & Roll") Can't Wait for you to do "News of the World", my favorite Queen album. I think you're gonna love "It's Late".

Are you Verdy's comment police ? I have been enjoying this young ladies comments for a while now and don't always comment, but felt I had to on this. After a lot of promising rock stuff from the 70's, I just find it disappointing when she dips into the pop World. She'll be doing ABBA and the Carpenters next.
