Queen made 4 rhapsodies: March Of The Black Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Millionaire Waltz and Innuendo. Rhapsody by definition means a song comprised of a few different sections. Queen created so many hits and masterpieces and they will be listened to until the end of time. Freddie was the greatest vocalist that ever walked the planet and we miss him. This is one of Freddie's Masterpieces kind of a prelude to Bohemian Rhapsody. There are so many elements of this song that I love. John is killing the bass on this one ad Brian is rockin that Red Special. Roger is perfection. Freddie got his inspiration from many things including art. A couple of his songs are actually explaining a particular piece of art so it is possible that this song is even a mashup of several fairy tales. The live version of this song is only a snippet, not the whole song by any stretch of the imagination. It would not be possible to even come close to the album version of this with just the three voices and single guitar tracks. Thank you both for your reactons.

Such a glorious masterpiece! In their early work, they wrote a lot of fantasy/mythology-themed songs, which are among my many favorites! "My fairy king", "lily of the valley", "nevermore", "the fairy feller's masterstroke" and of course "Seven seas of rye live at the rainbow" are highly recommended. March of the Black Queen is so intense it was rarely sung live and only a small portion was sung as part of a medley. As others have said, this is often thought of as Bohemian rhapsody's older sister. At this early a time in their career, who knows what musical sorcery was cooking that would either be fleshed out or ended up in the wastebasket! One of the best things about Queen is that their songs were rarely pinpointed at a specific subject or meaning, they preferred them to be wide open to interpretation. Once again, Queen provided a superb fantasy tapestry thats a treasure-trove of possible interpretations, especially who the titular Black Queen could be. Personally, when I hear the line "I'm Queen of the Night", the opera lover in me automatically thinks of the main antagonist of the same name from Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute". That being said, "Black Queen" and "Queen of the night" are archetypes all her own that has been used to describe several figures in mythology and folklore, but I digress. Another reactor, Darc Helmut did a very interesting reaction to this song with a particularly intriguing approach and interpretation to the lyrics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ6ag3R4adyZZqM Your reactions are awesome! I'm so glad you're both enjoying the ride so far. Queen's music is a rainbow of emotions and a musical buffet for the soul!

One of my favourite Queen songs. It's complex, and a little surreal... and as Mrs Coach said, has a fairy tale vibe. Freddie had it mostly written before Queen was even formed. It's considered to be a counterpoint to 'My Fairy King' which was released on their first album. It gives me Bohemian Rhapsody vibes too, with the changing keys, and tempos, and the feel of being multiple songs all smushed up together...

Coach, you have an extremely bright ear for Roger's singing. 😅 Many people don't hear him and think that it is all Freddie's voice because they blend together perfectly. 🥰 At live performances it was Roger who always supported Freddie and many times sang instead of him when Freddie had to rest his voice. Years before he met Brian he was known as "the famous singing drummer from Cornwall". Brian spoke highly of Roger: 'Roger is intellectualy extremely bright. He is sharp, bright, witty and he is in touch with the world. He reads the papers and is aware of trends. Roger's dream is to be a rock'n'roll star, to live it and breathe it, and he does." 🤘

And it's missing as a complement to the song "Funny how love is", it was a mistake on the band to put this part without the other one in the video. Queen II is like "Sgt. I'm an old Queenie (63) and have had discussions about "March of the Black Queen" many times with other Queenies. It isn't unusual to hear us talking about the Trio of Songs That Belong With Each Other. "March of the Black Queen," "The Prophet's Song," and "Innuendo" are indicative of the different time periods Queen went through with their Prog Rock side. Freddie used to say that Roger did "dog whistle notes." In most bands Roger would have been lead singer. Never forget, with Queen it's not over till it's over. Queen II was basically a concept album. Most songs on the album are fairytale related, because it was the glam rock period which had lots of connections to the gay community even though most glam artists were not gay. The goal was to leave the audience wondering. Why else would a band made up of four guys call themselves "Queen?"

Fantastic composition, musicianship and songwriting in general, remember this is in their very early days, Bohemian Rhapsody or Mongolian Rhapsody as Freddie was going to call it was just a pipe dream. Same song but a fair amount of differences.

Hey Mr. & Mrs. C., yes, the song was the highlight of the black side... Some people believed 👑QUEEN II album was a concept album, per se. It was based on the fantasy stories of the "Seven Seas of Rhye"... and the subsequent story lines of the "My Fairy King" and "Great King Rat" who loves the White Queen, but never approaches her... the "Ogre Battle" to control the territory of Rhye, the White Queen 👑 turns to the dark side (goes mad after experiencing the "Fairy-Feller's Masterstroke") and thus ends with "Nevermore" and "Funny How Love Is".... yes, all from the mind of Freddie, writing stories for his little sister while living on the beaches of Zanzibar.... blessings.

Freddie wrote the Black side of Queen II. I won't pretend to understand it completely but, in short, the Black Queen is NOT your friend! For a tiny bit of context, I'll offer the following: Powder Monkeys were boys that manned artillery guns on warships in the 16th - 19th centuries. ("praying in the dead of night") "The Water-Babies" is a 19th century children's underwater adventure story. "Boil and bake" is taken from Shakespeare's "Double, Double Toil and Trouble" poem We all know fo & fie comes from "Jack and the Beanstalk" but, also, Shakespeare characters commonly used "fie" to express disapproval. Check out "Nevermore". Short but one of the best! Thanks.

One commentator, some time ago, thought this was references to the early slave trade out of Zanzibar that the British ended. The blue powder boys were the ones who loaded the war ship cannons below deck. It all does feed into the fantasy stories Freddie and his sister made up or listened to as children. Perhaps the Black Queen refers to Queen Victoria who was in morning for her husband for decades.

Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. March of the Black Queen. Shows Freddie songwriting & Queens early development. Not every song is gonna be great. But this is showing how future song ideas came about. By the way have you herd Time by Larry Lurex aka Freddie Mercury

We have not heard that yet.

Observation - You have never reacted to Bad Company, whose singer Paul Rogers who, after Freddie died was Queens singer on the first tour. Also, no reactions on Tyuzu's newly released album that is getting a lot positive praise.

Had an idea - for a completely different perspective - seeing as you are Roger fans, why don’t you check out Roger cam, live at Wembley, “Now I’m Here” and watch him destroy those drums? Great fun. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jn6xf39_qcqXj5I

So, Mr. Coach lots of times said that No 1 for him is Ac Dc, No 2 - Def Leppard. Where does Queen stand???
@CoachCastTVАй бұрын
I wouldn't even try to answer that for any group without knowing all or at least most all of their catalog. Queen is certainly impressive so far and a joy to discover. But there is so much from them we haven't heard. Honestly, aside from AC/DC and Def Leppard, other groups that rank really high would be Van Halen (probably 3rd), KISS (perhaps 4th) and then it gets very murky from there. Those are the soundtrack of Coach's life and that's why they will likely always remain at the top for me personally. But there are so many good groups...and we are now discovering more. LOL

I thought you are becoming THE fan of Queen, but now I see I was mistaken...
@CoachCastTVАй бұрын
Oh we both have a very healthy appreciation for them, no doubt. But you cannot replace the soundtrack of youth, songs that are ingrained in your very being and have much deeper meaning than just the song, but are associated with memories.

Love you’re reactions . Can you please react to Zico Spot featuring Jennie of Blackpink😊

I always think about Galadriel from Lord of the Rings when I am listening to this song (when she imagines herself like an evil powerful Queen). Does the song have anything to do with it?

Forgive my interrupting Queen, but wanted to make you aware (if not) that New Jeans went on KZbin and did an unauthorized half-hour broadcast ripping Hybe apart, detailing all the ways Hybe has been dissing them ever since the MHJ thing blew up. They want MHJ back, say they're not going to follow Hybe's orders blindly, and gave a dealine of 9-25 for it to happen. They didn't say what would happen but bets are either Hybe disbands them or they start filing Mismanagement lawsuits to force contract termination. It really is war. Good for the girls for standing up for themselves and taking the fight to Hybe personally.
@CoachCastTVАй бұрын
Wow! That's not something we've heard of these groups doing before. That's a very risky move, but surely they have had some advisors on this topic.
@michaelmayoАй бұрын
@@CoachCastTV You should really check out the video. It's only 26 minutes long and it's just the girls recounting how miserable they've been and instances where Hybe has not only blown them off, but pubically disrespected them so they've written off talking to them completely. I don't know what was the last straw, but it sure looks like this has been building for awhile and just needed a last nudge. They've probably got enough to go to trial, which is going to force out all internal communications and probably drag Illit and Le Serrafim in as well at some point. This could be the Battle Royale of Kpop contract disputes...

@@michaelmayo Fascinating. We'll try to check it out. Amazing how some business relationships just go totally sideways sometimes.
