RAP AGAINST DICTATORSHIP - ประเทศกูมี (ประเทศกูมี "Pra-tet Koo Me" = We do have them in our f…ing country “the title of the Rap song”) I love them all and also hope that they do stay safe and the current military junta government regime does not ‘witch hunt’ all these Rap artists. Actually, if you came to Thailand right now, you would only see the tip of ‘Thailand iceberg’ - the country looks pretty peaceful and beautiful; people are smiling, etc., etc. But deep inside the largest part is submerged and can not be seen easily. It is really ‘a bad apple’. It has been ‘fucked up by the Thai military.’ Everything in the Rap song is symbolic: The Rap artists are a symbolic gesture of anger and frustration by the Thais who have been ruthlessly suppressed by the ‘Thai’ military coups d'état regime; black and white represents the country being in the dark (sorrow); only the colourful Thai flag (the guitar) represents the tip of Thailand iceberg that appears to the whole world showing that Thailand is beautiful and peaceful. The songwriter and the video creator are so ingenious that they could make the Thai language go hand in glove with the Rap singing style and insert the real incident that took place many years ago in the past as the background - the real incident that took place in the heart of the capital Bangkok, many years in the past (all these were generated by the cheeky ‘Thai’ military who always wanted to play politics). Please pray for peace and democracy in Thailand… The background: In memory of Mr Vichitchai Amornkul, a political science student at Chulalongkorn University (the background of #ประเทศกูมี = “We Do Have Them in Our F…ing Country” the title of the Thai Rap song) Vichitchai Amornkul was born in Ubon Ratchathani, Northeastern Thailand (Isan). He was brutally murdered and hanged under a tamarind at the Sanam Luang Gardens (the Phra Meru Grounds in the heart of Bangkok). His dead body was lynched by a crowd of young people who kicked and thrashed the body with a chair… Young people gathered in a circle and cheered… OMG…these people called themselves Buddhists and they were born in a Buddhist country. I loved how to try to express to audience. Personally, I have no issue to understand your English accent. There are 10 rappers in this MV. at 5:10 it's about tragedy in the most recent coup d'etat, it's a massacre event, around the same time in 1:45. I had few explanation on some materials about Thai modern and/or culture in this MV, which are not political concerning. Feel free to visit.
