I think: long long long practice & training. In a behind the scenes Video Eli tells how they were wandering around before a show (yes, it's that long ago) and practicing their riffs when they (himself and Layne) decided, that Geoff had to do some riffs too - but down... first he said "nope, can't do it!" then he practiced too... yes, it's that long ago... 😊😉

Love your appreciation for the way VoicePlay makes covers their own. There are a lot of groups that essentially only make copies of the original (which can be alright, sometimes), but one thing I've always loved about VoicePlay is how they put their own spin on everything while still respecting the original.

Geoff...you just never know what notes are going to come out of his mouth. He's got that huge range and is so nimble running up and down whatever range he's playing with at the moment. My favorite idea for a collaboration would be Geoff, Tim, and Avi! They are all absolutely incredible, but each has such a different tone. I just imagine them breaking into instant viral status if they ever got together! And you mentioned playing sax? Do you ever play it here on KZbin or anywhere else?

a cover of a cover of a cover..the first person to sing this was David Alen Coe then George Jones then Stapleton..and so on...i don't know these dudes name except Geoff...ole buddy on the far left was bangin on the vocal runs then the other dude,,Kevin?.(.not sure if that's his name)..came in strong with some more runs and Geoff is a master of bass vocal runs...the other 2 dudes are just meh imho...beatboxer didn't impress me at all...i guess i'm so used to hearing Adam Rupp..no hate just one persons opinion..but you know opinions are like....well i'm sure you know the rest of that phrase

These boys are really good and I like them, don't get me wrong, but this isn't a right song for them. They are too young and lacking the life experience to deliver the message of this song. (but let's hope they stay that way, too! One thing for sure is you don't wanna know how it feels when 'the bottom of the bottle is always dry'.)

Sorry man, but that was just awful. Love for a song is in the ears of the listener, so I'll never belittle another person for music or a song they like, and I don't give out thumbs down for reacting to a song, but this version just pales in comparison to Chris's version. This is just sooooo bubble gum pop, I think It made my sugar spike. Chris's version is pure blues and a tribute to Etta James, even though she never preformed this song, Chris uses the same chord structure she used in most of her songs, and many of the same notes, even though the song was originally written more with a country twang.
