Wow, I think it is brave for the to have only discovered horror in the last few years. The fact that they seem to think Get Out, a decent movie, was somehow the first horror film with social commentary. I am not sure I saw what value Meagan brought to the collective conscious, other than some tik tok dances. I am also stunned that Ti West is whom they spend time on and don't really spend the whole article gushing over Ari Aster. I often read folks discussing "elevated horror" and I laugh. I enjoy Jordan Peele and thought Nope was excellent, inspiring some memories of Jaws. Having said that, I am gonna need the critics to get entirely off of his crank now. The effusive praise they heap on him after a minimal effort is downright patronizing. I think he may have what it takes to be a force in the genre, but this notion that Get Out was somehow wholly original is crazy. US was interesting, but entirely uneven and although I personally loved Nope, it doesn't seem like even critics did. Imagine having released 2 films (before Nope) and having everyone constantly discuss how brilliant you are for essentially your first film. It is clear what they are doing with Mr. Peele and it is almost as problematic a thing as I have seen in this modern era. I just grow weary of non-horror fans, mostly young ones "discovering" horror for the first time. Horror, the genre that has been shocked full of allegory and commentary and satire from the beginning. Thew genre that has elevated women far before mainstream cinema has. What a hack of a writer. Its clear they just googled horror and came up with this article.

From that opening sentence, it's painfully obvious that the writer has no real knowledge of the genre.
