The Weeknd's shtick when he first came into the spotlight was the super heavy, blunt and simplistic lyricism packed into the songs. Trilogy, his first three mixtapes, really shows the dark side of a young man dealing with a lot of really messed up lifestyle choices and vices. It's sort of a journey beginning with the highs of a fast lifestyle, and ending with the inevitable lows. The whole project is an amazing listen front to back. I would love to see your reaction to it! EDIT: He was only 20 years old during the making of House of Balloons (mixtape #1), and 21 for the rest of Trilogy. Important to remember when listening to the intense subject matter.

Wicked games is The Weeknd's best song in my opinion,by far. I first listened to it in 2018 and it still gives me shivers to this day. I think he's the most talented singer/songwriter from his generation. It's no wonder he's the artist that first got me interested in the R&B genre,as I grew up mostly listening to metal music as well. Cheers!

hey man! just been binging ur videos big time! love the channel and breakdowns. The weeknd (abel) is my all time favourite artist so this is awesome to see! just a heads up of his old music - a lot of it can be quite dark and he liked to explore this side of himself and sort of 'expose' it so he can see the mistakes he's making. Its a common theme across all his music about his past but just know that he does like to explore the darkness which is exactly the reason he grew so much because of how unique it is! Abel's a good guy, he's just had troubled pasts and delves into his character in his music.

If you have the time I would highly recommend you listening to his first three mix tapes that are combined together to form "Trilogy." There is an earlier EP before this but for starters Trilogy is probably the best place to start and progress through each record in order after that.

After watching like 10 of your The Weeknd reaction videos, i gotta say, welcome to the xo fam. Every Weeknd song is a masterpiece on its own, and albums tell a cohesive story about him and the character he is creating. All of the albums are worth listening to. If you haven’t yet, check out his album Kiss Land, maybe react to Belong to the World, if you haven’t yet? Oh and definitely check his Superbowl performance! It was phenomenal!

I’m really enjoying your reactions to The Weeknd! You def have to listen to the Trilogy in its entirety. It will blow your mind the things he was singing about between the ages of 19-21 because that’s how young he was during those 3 mixtapes. As well how musically creative and In tuned he was, Trilogy created its own sub genre called Dark R&B and changed the R&B genre as we know it today. Keep it up man 🙌🏽
