Gig platforms need to stop talking about being paid by the hour. We are paid by the order, not the hour. They're trying to dummy down words (hourly, tips, etc) so W2 people can relate but it only makes things worse.

We are making an average of $24 - $25 an hour, BUT - not consistently. That is the misleading part. I can say I make $30.00 an hour.... for about 2 hours out of 40. lol... And, for me active time is the only time that matters because I dash from home, so I'm only actually 'working' when I get in my car and start driving. I'm lucky I don't have to drive to a location or sit in my car for hours.

2:24 I do it in Jersey the way they keep running the algorithm they won't let me actually schedule I've tried everything some people can schedule most can't. For those who can't we've noticed a trend when we try to do doordash doordash is constantly trying to push us further and further out literally use us like we work for a station. They do not respect the zone limits they do not even care they've cut people out of certain areas by overlapping them. They've taken business from Other restaurants. I've gotten McDonald's deliveries from Long Beach island to littlelake Harbor. Same thing with wawa and the customers keep complaining about that and doordash doesn't give a s***. I've had more customers and restaurants complain about doordash sending their deliveries out when the customers said they wanted it from a particular place that's because the customer is supporting a particular business and doordash will not respect it.

DoorDash uses active time to measure pay when it should be total time from turning on dash to shutting off motor at home. I average just over 20.00/hr start to finish daytime hours no evenings. 30/hr during dinner time.

I make around $23 active time and over $13 dash time. I live in a small city in east Texas with a University.

I think both are important. Yes I would like to make at least $2 per mile but I also want to not waste my time slumping for these apps more than I need to, so the more money I can make in an hour, the less hours I need to be out there working for these apps.

The one commenter..."I don't factor in fuel because because I use the same gas to drive to my full time job and other stuff." Bro, seriously? Lol. Fuel is an expense no matter what. Know your cost per mile and adjust your dash time earnings to NET. Depending on your market you may realize you need to stop taking certain orders.

active time is bs for dd. It also creates a shit environment where people dont tip because they think DD itself pays us 25 an hour. No transparency is a huge issue and dd intentionally takes advantage of it.

I think it's kind of accurate if you use the app exactly the opposite of the way DoorDash wishes you would.

Me personally, sometimes I do make over 20 dollars a hour, other times I might make 15. I only do this part time, but I have met several Dashers in my market who consistently make 800 to a 1000 dollars a week, but I'm not sure how many hours they are putting in and they say it like it's an easy thing to do. So if he is saying "Drivers Are Earning Close To $25" I would say a more accurate statement would be many drivers or most drivers are making this, depending on market.

2:41 No you cannot even offer it As a part time in many places. Because doordash has switched over to scheduling top dashers who would have had 1st choice don't get the 1st choice anymore. Because you can't clock in any time and choose your hours you're unable to actually get any money. Active time verses in active time still accounts for gas lost. During the summer I couldn't sit in the f****** black car with tint. I had to run it which means I used gas sitting around for 3 hours waiting for deliveries and then I only get paid for 2 which is $40 that means $30 to fill up my tank. Leaving me only earning $10 which goes into food. That's not part time there's nothing to gain you're literally just paid enough to do the job not enough to actually Make anything out of it. They use platforms like you guys who live in areas where the business is thriving think about link think about it Jersey only has Chinese restaurants Italian restaurants Italian restaurants Italian restaurants Italian restaurants Italian restaurants Italian restaurants McDonald's and wawa. The most you get variety wise is during the summer and even the menus for the seafood or all the same. That means the only service doordash has to offer New Jersey is convenience and door - has specifically taken out the convenience. In many places across this country doordash does not legitimately offer a service making them a scam. I just spent 8 hours today trying to navigate this f****** thing because of all the changes they made and I only made $30. There's no profit in door - most of the time. I've yet to be anywhere where they're happy with the service that doordash actually provides if it wasn't for the fact that doordash has set up a monopoly for some areas and some businesses their competitors would have taken over. Grubhub is much more preferred to the customers where I live but the restaurants are encouraged by doordash not to enlist grubhub. So most businesses don't offer grubhub service Leaving them forced to depend on the s***** service doordash provides and it's not the drivers it's not the restaurants it's doordash itself you can't get help because the people you call have to redescribe and they're constantly pushing the blame on somebody else. I've sat in a room with the restaurant owners arguing with doordash's 3rd party contractors about what's the complication was and because the complication was the app itself they did not want to provide a service and kept trying to make it seem like it was my fault or the restaurant's fault when they realized that we weren't playing games and that we were both in the same room they're attitude changed because we caught on to the scam. Doordash's only service is Deniability.

1:46 Tony is never going to address that he does that intentionally neither the business nor the customer's notice if the business knew and the customers knew they would know it's a s***** investment and they wouldn't participate it's common sense. He doesn't expect the doordashers to actually associate that information and tell the public. Hey when he says we make $25 an hour hes counting active time only. Which means these guys could be clocked in for 5 f****** hours wasting their life And only get paid for an hour and a 1/2 because doordash f***** u* the business the customers aren't happy the restaurants aren't happy And dordash pins everybody against each other. Now they're really not happy because a lot of us have started working alongside with our restaurants in order to Forced door - to take responsibility. Literally during a storm they tried to make us go into a danger zone a closed zone a closed zone when the restaurants were telling them no I was telling them no and even the township had to call in and tell them no but because nobody can contact doordash and we have to do it through a Contracted company in India they didn't know what the f*** to do.... Doordash does everything it can to avoid doing its job. And Tony blames everybody but his s***** business scam because that's what it is a scam. At any given moment these towns can choose to cut doordash out and operate these delivery services themselves. The only reason why they haven't yet is because nobody's figured out how to organize. Nobody even thought it worth their time to organize because nobody thought the business would last this long. But now they know the mistakes they can do it they will do it some have started doing it.

Tony Xu should have said 25/hr peak average pay for 1.7 hours a day or whatever it is. I made 600 one New Years Eve doing Uber. So does that mean I make 600 a day doing uber? According to Tony Xu that is how much I make. Dude is super slimy embellishing the facts.
